Why is EVE so toxic?

I’ve been away from EVE for a while, mostly playing Elite Dangerous etc which has a few clowns but generally a great community. I thought i’d give EVE another go and worked my way up to a T1 Ret and went off to mine in a 0.4 system. Minding my own business and a guy shows up in a T3 and zaps me, then just flys off. No interest in cargo or challenge. Purely to be a dick. Why does EVE have so many of these peeps? Ultimately, all its done is lose another player (not a big deal i hear you say but i can’t be alone in not enjoying this sort of gameplay. And before the “actually…” gang turn up, yes i know i’m not safe in 0.4, my point is more the ‘Why’?

Because the game is about blowing stuff up?

Strictly for another digit in their killboard. Didn’t see you as anymore than an NPC.

As soon as they read that they’ll say that you’re an alt, that you only started this thread to say that ganking costs CCP players, that you’re a liar and that this game doesn’t need you, go back to WoW, Farmville is your game blah-blah…

Ask the ISD to close this thread and go have fun in Elite.

You mean you like blowing stuff up? I think you fall into the toxic category

Because you don’t agree with me so i’m an alt and you’re demanding the thread close? Surely having more players is a good thing?

Reread my post more carefully.

Just did. Sorry, o7

Just irritated that this game is its own worst enemy. Needs a Mobius server equivalent.

It’s quite alright, to err is human o7

Either they’ll learn or they’ll keep losing players, doesn’t bother me none.

Players are hard-up for things to shoot. Idle hands and that kind of thing…

Since the beginning, EVE has cultivated all the douchbags that were banned from every other MMO and had nowhere else to go. A ready made player base, as it were.

EVE still panders to this crowd, much to the determent of building the game to its potential as envisioned by the founders.

If you play chess do you also think the other player is ‘toxic’ when they take your pieces?

I’ve seen various interpretations of ‘toxic’ but it usually refers to people’s behaviour in chat. Can you explain how it is toxic when people shoot your ship in a game about spaceship violence?

When you use such language, and fail at spelling, you sound salty and ignorant.

This is a multi-national game, my trailer park friend. And here in Xanadu we spell things a little different than y’all.

So was he. You were destroying asteroids, he was destroying a ship.

So if you know that why are you then surprised if it indeed turns out to be… not safe?

Give us one good reason why he shouldn’t kill you?

Such threads always make me wonder if the OP is just a bait / joke / sarcasm or if they actually believe what they say (but as the same arguments were presented many times in a serious manner it can be either way).

When Capsuleers became toxic it can be similar to visiting a bar where people drink.

That’s why I don’t go to bars or “pub” as the English like to call those places. They’re a magnet for toxicity, bragging and bad alcohol breaths. No thank you.

Probably not a bad thing that we don’t have Walking in Stations.

Or even worse smelling in stations.
