I just re-watched an old video of mine where I was tackling T4 sites in my old Broadsword, before I got nuked in one of those T4’s… and the payout, calculating the price for the filaments that was 8 mil each, it was around 8 mil per T4!!! If I think about it today I get still mad about it…
That Broadsword was worth more than 1 Bil all in all… and was put to its limits… to the point where I died in a T4… absolutely crazy what I was stretching my limits to…
Today I don’t even do T3s basically if not for fun… I don’t look at the payout anymore…
My will to go on and on, testing my limits in the Abyss has completely waned away… what was the point of risking my ships anyway??? At 30 mins per site it would have taken me 120 runs to repay me of just the Bradsword fit alone: that is 1800 hours, or 75 days, or 2 and 1/2 months….
Does anybody know if the situation has gotten a little better in T4s?
Both in payout and difficulty, I felt it needed badly a big risk/costs re-adjustment. I would like to hear someone else’s thought on this… also it felt to me that Battlecruisers should have been allowed in Abyss space from day one, but it has never happened it seems. Only some special events like Capsuleer day some Battlecruisers are allowed a little window to shine…
I haven’t done abyssals much, but isn’t the value of the payouts balanced by supply and demand? That the easier and safer a type and tier is, the lower the payouts?
I can imagine running a T3 abyssal in a 1B cruiser takes a while to pay out the ship value… isn’t T3 on the easy side and wouldn’t that make an 1b fit overkill and an unnecessary high financial risk?
From my experience - and I do run abyssals a lot - the values presented there are very accurate on average (of course… a shame still some people don’t get what average means…).
For running T3s, a Gila or HAC for ~600M ISK is absolutely enough. Reliably. Means: It will not die if you don’t make major mistakes.
It’s about T4 payout, and yes I am aware of the Povertila, it one of strongest ships.
I always try to do my best with the cheaper fit possibles, and T4’s are extremely hard outside of the Gila. The Broadsword received a much needed buff recently, there are much more efficient ships to run the site yes, but even If I could run a T4 in a 300Mil fit ship, still 8Mil payout for what was basically killing two dozens of highly specialized in killing you ships seemed very weird…
In fact I was hoping that at some point there would have been a sort of reward system also based on the kind of ships destroyed, and not only the loot side of things…
It seems to me that at least the lower tiers ( I run T2 now only once in a while, and I have never attempted a T3 by years now, T4 are a distant memory…) has increased payout a little bit…
It just makes the game more fun in my opinion, there must be a kind of reward system in place to satisfy your deeds, 8 Mil seemed like a joke… Because for T4s at the time we were talking of Highly specialized Assault Cruisers OR the Gila, with the Gila being a little cheaper these days but not back then. The Bradsword price and everything else has also increased. I re-checked my old fit with the new prices and what was 1Bil then it has become 2Bil now!! Same exact fit!!!
It’s not about the money, it’s about the incentive to do it.
If it was given a super-incentive for the higher tiers, I would imagine the Groups that organized
around the big battles, would form groups and fleets to run these high tier Abyss as well, ( Vanguard? I don’t remember the name exactly).
Why do you think that? Sacrilege, Cerberus, Stormbringer, Vagabond, Ishtar, Zealot, Deimos… they all shred trhough T4 Abyssals like slicing bread. You don’t even need expensive clones for that. You just have to know how to use the ship properly and how to approach the different spawns.
The average T4 Abyssal pays like 30 million ISK in ~15 minutes. I wouldn’t consider that bad money.
I remember the Ishtar Active shield fit, it was an expansive fit nonetheless. Not very dissimilar to my Broadsword fit. The Cerberus is by far the best and I agree is somehow easier, but for all the other, I would politely disagree… I have been neuted to death multiple times in T4s before, maybe they have been nerfed a bit… I have no idea… I could actually go on a suicide mission just for curiosity and verify it personally. Do you know by chance a recent upload of someone doing T4s in one of those ships you mentioned I could watch?
Well 30Mil isk is more than double 8Mil average of three years ago, so it has increased!
(PS: You need to factor in also the cost of the filament…)
This is very good news. I know a bunch of players gave up on the game entirely because of that.
Let’s hope a new wave of thinking what is good for the ecosystem and what is not that do not revolves around hacking and slashing what players love but rather provide them with new challenges arise.
