It is far too easy to gank freighters in high sec and the penalty for doing so is minimal. It takes no effort to repeatedly destroy freighters carrying no cargo and many gankers use multibox programs to do just that. If freighters can’t operate in high sec no matter how little they are carrying then it might be time to revisit a mechanic that is being abused.

Don’t load your freighter like loot piñata, make so that you don’t need a freighter unless you are a professional hauler.

2-3 bil freighter holds are not loot pinatas.

Unless I was hauling for isk I wouldn’t load more 500mil. 2 or 3 billion load is asking for it. Some freighters even get ganked empty so I personally don’t think it matters how much isk you haul. Big slow unarmed ships are more like sarcophagus than ships. But that’sjust me.
I think that is an issue when it comes to high sec, specifically with freighters. Saying that some freighters even get ganked empty is a fact and definitely a major problem.

and where do you know this ? did you gank all these freighters in HS and you can tell because its YOUR experiance ?
they use allowed programms and nothing illegal …. you can use them to ! i had use them because its awesome to organize your chars ! so … whats the problem with these programs ? did these programs kill you ? no they dont, its still need a lot of skill and concentration to use all of your chars at once
and how do you think this stupid ■■■■ ? oO i see freighters every day moving around and not getting ganked … just look at zkillboard and you see how less freighter per day are ganked …

I not sure if we can call it a major problem. EVE is about ships going BOOM after all so maybe the “problem” isn’t viewed as one by devs maybe it is what supposed to happen, maybe it is planned. Maybe players not supposed to fly fully loaded freighters unless they have protection from a small fleet and maybe to fly freighters is given to just anyone but experienced players who know how to transport a load from point A to point B without getting destroyed.
My personal solution is not fly freighters and hire haulers if I need to move lots of stuff. I don’t even think I will fly Cruisers and definitely no Battleship. Small ships are best and loss of it is negligible, affordable and they are more agile for Low-Sec.

yeah, you know why ? because i lerned all the mechanics because from time to time i also want to gank a little bit. this means i need to know how i can catch ppl and what target is a good target !
if i say “you need to be smarter” then yes, you need to be smarter …. all the facts are against you !

And I don’t mean losses only, but an indication of successful freights too.
Sorry I could not be more help. I haven’t played EVE long so for now that will be my policy until I get more skills and more experience. One thing is sure is I don’t want to fly a big slow vulnerble ship with billions of stuff inside.
this is good if you know you dont know enough ! just play the game and lern more about it and you will fly such ships later !

That’s the plan. Learn with inexpnsive ships then take the training wheels off and graduate into a bigger one ( but not a freighter )

Well this is undeniable. You can find them from time to time on zkillboard. But i still suspect them to be on autopilot, with an all cargo fitting, without a webber, without a scout, without knowledge of ganking hotspots, without knowledge of gankers online or not, without a general knowledge of game mechanics, with a quick triggerfinger for a forum whine thread and therefore fully justified. Bored gankers hit also lazy targets. Perfectly fine.
