I love these new threads every week people trying to work out statistics as to how mercenaries fund wars as its all just a guesstimate.
Mercenaries get paid alot for protection and attack contracts, these fund wars. (We don’t shoot structure for fun)
Some groups have rules regarding loot, I know afew request all loot is sent to CEO and then its paid out to members or re-invested in war decs.
Mercenaries rarely have to replace ships, though we do like spending on officer mods.
Nearly all mercenaries I know have alts, lots of them, in null, low, wormhole, trading, industry, mining. All people see is “seal clubbers, Jita campers etc…” Truth is most of us are businessmen and have many different incomes on Eve.
As i said in the last thread, mercenary alliances have zero issues funding war decs and its pretty self sustaining, even if it wasn’t we always have more isk to back it up.
Your whole point collapsed (for me at least) at this point. What makes you think their only income is loot drops?
You’ve identified at least 50 active pvp players and of course there may be any number of alts and other players contributing that you cannot identify by looking at zKillboard. Regardless, asumming 50 players, then all they need to come up with between them to meet the deficit is just over 300m each per week.
You think 300m a week can’t be done?
Hell, you can buy 110 PLEX and have 300m in the time it takes your card payment to clear.
Gee… I wonder what groups hold a lot of Hi Sec POCOs, especially those near major trade hubs and on barren and temperate planets. I very much down those one or two people corporations really own them. Rather they may be shells for the larger mercs groups that can field the people amd fire power to take the pocos. And yes, trust me on this, the right POCOs can generate comsiderable income in hi sec.
Can’t remember what’s the name of PIRAT POCO corp…
Omega And Friends Medialabs is owned by VMG, they add more POCO there and then, they also gained a lot from Complaint Department’s POCO when their CEO turned coat and joined VMG… to stop playing soon after. A fine legacy.
I’ve no idea if it does. The thread was speculating about how they can afford so many war decs.
Maybe they are being paid for them all, you know, because mercs. You would be better off addressing that comment to the OP.
I was only clarifying how easy it would be to fund multiple war decs with the number of accounts they have based on the need for a character to make 300m per week. I can make 300m in a day or in 5 seconds with a credit card.
Interestingly, PIRAT maintain 100 more war devs than their nearest competitor, Vendetta. They are also holding wars for much longer periods of time (up to 5 months currently).
Are PIRAT the apical Merc alliance that everyone turns to when they need someone war dec’d?
That makes it an unlikely source of funding for them.
The reason It’s interesting is that their apparent income doesn’t cover their activities. They hold more war devs than any other group by a very large margin. It must be funded from somewhere and we know they don’t spend time at PvE since all of their time is spent camping stations.
You must be returning after a long time, they removed the ability to max out wardecs using shell corps with the last wardec revamp. They also made wardecs basically free to do on smaller corps. While it may have been abuse of a game mechanic, I admit, it was as close as we ever got to counterplay to wardec spam.
Yea sorry that was back in 2008 or 9 when I was still in high sec, didn’t realize they changed it. Been in null and low ever since and don’t really have to worry about war decks anymore.
