Some people just don’t think things through. High sec being 100% safe would put an end to moon mining in 0.5 systems. Someone could warp in to your moon mining op with an Orca and 15 Hulks, suck up all your moon goo, and there’s not a damn thing you could do about it. They are in an NPC corp, so you can’t wardec them, you can’t gank them, and if their Orca is fitted right you can’t even bump them. Nope, you’d just have to sit there and watch all the ore that you paid billions for in a citadel and fuel costs get sucked up for free by other players…
more likely the latter, the roaming frigs are OP, adn without proper drones an orca can get scrammed, defanged, and destroyed.
The defense fleets for Guristas I know can be anything from a worm with supporting frigs and logi up to Rattlesnakes, Gilas, and basi’s.
That’s why you take two seconds to look at the Agency to see if there is an active FOB in or near your system before you start mining…
They can already do that because 99.99% of players don’t have the capability to gank even a single boosted Hulk, because of how badly ganking has been nerfed in aggregate.
Players used to hire us to destroy mining competition/loot thieves in wars, and as you mention, that’s gone now too.
Losses to NPCs are only uploaded to zkillboard if the victim has given zkillboard access to their kill api to automatically upload their kills and deaths, or has manually uploaded their ship loss.
Yes, NPC kills do show up, but much less reliably than PvP kills as PvP kills have at least two potential uploaders where NPC kills just have the victim.
It’s not unfavourable to me to have casual players in the game, so replacing bots with casual players is creating a favorable outcome.
So if prices go up, people will still PvP but in cheaper ships because they love PvP, but if prices go down people will just stop PvPing because it’s pointless to blow up cheap ships? Not sure I follow the logic.
So over the two years where CCP aggressively attacked PvE, satisfaction went down?
Every game doesn’t have to cater to every gamer, but EVE clearly needs a broader market than the dwindling market it currently has. Pretty soon they’re going to have to start NPC seeding the market (if they haven’t already begun doing so).
Of course we cant take surpluses from economic growth and apply them to new ventures. Buy a venture BPO. But really, isn’t that what big alliances do? Start out small building up and then gradually build up bigger and better fleets, fight for space, etc. Everyone can do that. The problem is now that resource generation is so much harder that people sit on their stockpiles, because a loss at the scale of old epic battle would likely be an extinction level event.
Yeah well we both agree on the burn nullsec thing then so at least we have some common ground. But my point about nullsec wasn’t that what it does is right, it was that a decade plus of massive scale overproduction hasn’t caused everything to be worthless so I don’t know how it would be possible for highsec to surpass that.
Still remember, long time ago… When I found an afk mining orca in highsec.
Tried to convince some CODE to gank it, but they probably thought I was some sort of bait, since I was just a random that popped into their public chat. So had to wardec the corp alone and solo kill the orca (not doing much forum PvP these days anyway, so don’t really care that “you know who” would figure out my old main to use against me in a silly argument)
Eventually CCP took that ability away as well. Solo frigate PvP ain’t making enough dough to plop down an expendable structure for a week’s wardec. GRR CPP!
The argument was never about eliminating casual players. No one is advocating for that.
Yes, for two reasons:
- The thrill of the “drop.” which pushes us to chase targets, even if we don’t actually need the money/items.
- If stuff hardly runs out, it becomes difficult to win conflicts.
Yes. And once again, the argument is never in favor of hurting or eliminating PvE.
In every hardcore survival game I play, carebears on the forums say the exact same thing. “We need to add a PvP toggle or implement safe areas so that the game can become popular instead of dying!”
Literally every game.
That still has a ceiling.
Just a day’s wardec now.
Man… Highsec sure is a hard-knock life these days
How are those 100 omega acct’s going?
I play PVE only games sometimes, they are called indie games and I buy them on Steam
I don’t think I will ever pay a sub for a PVE only game, I would rather buy more indie games every month
That is a lot of omega accounts. A claim that ridiculously stupendous can only mean one thing!
It’s a sure fire alt account of [Redacted]
The same person that claimed an entire null sec fleet of over 100 pilots docked up the moment [Redacted] showed up in local!
If it’s true, CCP must love these whales. And why shouldn’t they pander to their whims? Remove ganking in high sec so [Redacted] can fly [Redacted] blingy ships in high sec with absolute safety and scare off null sec blobs!
I was just quoting lucas…
Oh, my mistake. I take back my post and apologize to [Redacted]’s obvious alt.
Sorry mate. My lack of digging in for context before posting.
NP, I F’up all the time trying to keep up with it all.
Hi MB, what was actually posted was:
Max Deveron: I actually do have 156 accounts…
(LK): Only 156? Weak. I have more omegas than that.
{post #530 in ‘Proposal for Rebalancing of the Suicide Gank’ (closed)]
It’s scary. I could be the only person posting on the Forum as myself.
Yikes!
This is the post I was referring to.
(Glad I bm’ed it!)
Edit; Does lucas still get a ping for a response even if he banned?
omg 100 accounts
damn
And you wonder why he lobbies so hard!
All of this tangential waffle really only serves to evade one very important fact. More noob vessels are lost to PvE than to PvP including ganking. How can anyone who claims to be defending noobs against those psychotic PvP people overlook this ? You rattle on as if PvE were the safer option and there’s some huge imbalance of kills for PvP. But it is actually the other way round !
