How to Retain Players in EVE

Bah. I never met anyone who was doing well in EVE who was afraid to ‘expose’ their main. Only people with 10 kills and 27,397 losses.

What’s more it is somewhat arrogant to presuppose that anyone even cares who you ‘really are’ to the extent that you need to hide it.

Again it says a lot more about you. Then it does the rest of us that posts with our main toons..

But as my young friends say, you do you.

You guys really are desperate.

You people and your large pictures …

And …

He didnt say there were space ships in WoW. He said Eve isn’t an easy game made for 8 year olds, with space ships.

Also, there are spaceships in WoW.
(Vindicator and mount at least).

@Rose:
1: You are wrong and clearly didn’t understand - or is trolling.
2: You turn away from the fact and deflect with a personal attack about emotions, to try cover up you are not answering the question.
3: You continue by accusing the other of your own misconduct.

You people …
A statement is not more or less valid because of who says it. Now if you don’t understand a statement, some people might be worth your time figuring out what they meant - most are not. so knowing who says something does matter.

It does not have to be your main, although that is of course an easy way to do it in games. But as long as you use the same character always, you are always standing by your statements and letting people learn if you are worthless or possible worth listening to.

And as for demanding people speak up on their main, so they can face repercussions … the only reason for that combination is your repercussions for participating in a forum debate are completely against values such as free speech, and adding a statement about real world on top …

So from making a good point of having to post with just 1 character, to showing why people should make an alt solely for the forums, and definitely never give away name, address, country information etc.

EDIT No decent preview …

I voted:

  1. Lower subscription price.
  2. Better and permanent log-in rewards

It wouldn’t hurt to improve the value of drops either. I think that would increase player numbers and participation.
Getting a handle on the runaway inflation, prices at Market and lowering taxes - always a popular move - would improve retention.

As long as a person has a decent level of discernment the truth is pretty easy to spot.

I would like if you included the first part.

I certainly hope people read everything BEFORE they weigh in.

The biggest problem here is the constant trolling.

So you misunderstood and also found me offensive?

Let me break this down. IF you or the poster @Cypherous had replied, my comments were off topic, I would have to agree with you. I played WoW back when it was new for about 6 months, then I dropped it. They did have some weird transports like zeppelins and griffons. I honestly didn’t know, if they added them and I don’t care, that is not the point. Cypherous made an analogy to people wanting this game to be WoW with spaceships. I agree Eve in not WoW with spaceships but I don’t think anyone can really know what the other players want. I didn’t think I needed to do a whole paragraph to explain all this. I don’t think everyone wants Eve to be WoW with spaceships, but assuming they did, D&D ( basically what WoW is based upon ) has in fact added spaceships to the mix since 1989.

I am a very nice person, when posting I try to avoid idioms, slang, and tropes. If anyone is trolling, I feel it must be you, or you failed to comprehend and need everything written out in a complete dissertation. I honestly don’t see how you can get offended by my apology to Cypherous.

Have fun!

Actually EVE is Traveller except for the driving around in vehicles and walking on planets nor in Stations.

The idea with quoting is that people don’t need to read the whole part. But quotes also must show what was actually said, when you completely remove the context, like in the above example remove who the subject is, you change the meaning of the quoted sentence. In the above example, change it from referring to people who only post with 1 character, to possible meaning every single one, the only hint there is a part missing, is the grammatical error of the first letter being non-capitalized.

If you feel part of a sentence is useless, you show it was removed fx

or more lazy

But in both examples, you make it completely open for interpretation who I was talking about. Without showing I did have a subject, and nowhere in your text do you mention who the subject is.

If you expect people to read the whole post you are replying to in order to understand your post, why do you quote anything at all?

EDIT Wow forums eat if you write

Good thing you missed the spelling and punction police. Posting on the forums is just like undocking. You consent to pvp in all its forms.

You obviously didn’t follow the conversation.

It’s been my experience that physically weak people talk the most $hit.
