HUD Feedback Thread!

New Devblog but it does not answer the most important question: When are we going to get to test the first version of this HUS ingame? So far, CCP has not shown an updated version from all the feedback we have provided thus far.

it seems to me the Devs are trying to turn EvE into a flight simulator…so my question is …

When are we going to get boarding actions and walking in ships, and a bridge that works like Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica…when are we going to get Walking in Stations???

is the dev team really dedicated to reprogramming the entire game???
cause if this is not the future case…then this entire bloated garbage is really really stupid and you all should be fired and replaced.

This will be an essential feature in the Gameplay settings:

Make it so players can try out the new HUD, start customizing it, testing what works, and getting used to it in low-stakes situations like PvE. Then enable the option to switch back to the classic HUD for higher-stakes situations where the “muscle memory” (that you mention in the devblog) is essential.

That will also provide useful data on user acceptance – if you see players trying out the new HUD but switching back to the classic HUD and staying there, you’ll know you have some work to do.

Would be nice if the shield, armor, and structure health bars of the current HUD were a little bit seperated so they are easy to read, instead of all of them being together and hard to read.

I found this one on Deviant Art, so this one is an contemporary art photo. Note the dial his hand is resting on, this feels like Fenris is sending us back to the 1940’s and 1950’s of sci-fi decor.

Have fun!

I’d love to see a place to drop FRIENDLY SHIPS so you can’t easily attack them with weapons and drones accidentally. Friendly fire is real.

Apparently walking around in space stations used to be a thing. I should still be…complete with Star Wars bars where players can hang out in the station (and allow bar keeps to sell drinks.)

Since we’re discussing the HUD…let’s talk about the completely unusable ‘First Person Mode’ - literally any update or change to this would be an improvement.

It is just another camera angle, what do you find unusable about it?

Although here is a thought to the developers; why not place a new HUD in the first person view port? At present, all you show us there is a reticle, pitch, and roll indicators.

Have fun!

thats it, today is the last day, i logged onto eve found another brand new character taking content and leaving none, this is my last account there will be no more subscriptions because the Character farmers have ruined eve by making new accounts every day then farming them for isk, denying content to paying players.

you allowed this, so these character farming losers can support your business because i will not pay for zero content.

not that this will be seen it will be hidden because thats what eve does, I win.

There is no actual fpv as any thing you see are cameras from drones flying around your ship.

There is a little problem with suggestion.

They are going to need to show dynamic weapon effects.

Some weapons actually adjust depending on orbit/directional facing [angular etc…orbital match] Some ships end up with tracking deadzones. Even though the concept of the “tracking” and optimal/falloff indicators should have been in this game from DAY1.

I would wonder if the missile mechanics will be explained by a colored “blast radius”

But the biggest problem is the way in which the games damage models are coded. Turrets have a variety of issues in combination with other adjustable metrics. There are some weird issues and issues of overlaps. [missiles can end up with several classes doing the same damage rolls…if you fit with that knowledge]

I am not particularly amused by Fenris…posting on their Dev Blog…a cherrypicked “positive” set up. Might I point out the “red dot” code is still in game…just now related to different problems…the HUD UI with inventory still glows…especially during pod swaps…because the games code routes your pods implants as if they are in inventory…even though you are swapping a clone. Endlessly pinging…your inventory…with glow. [Red Dot legacy still there.] The dot might be gone…but its still there in the code.

Well its stuck…though.

You can only look…left right up and down inside a 180 hemisphere. Some ships its worse…then some its in a weird position.

If they could do a full-360 vision system. And a locking system interaction system. But that might cause some interesting graphic/computer weight problem for the game. I do believe it was the intention years ago…for direction control and movement in first person.

But, we need to concentrate on the 3rd Person mode. I am not particularly fond of the weird camera angle interactions that are currently in game. And in some cases Fenris has fosted off on us without considering. We have alot of problems with the “graphical changes” like the “fuzzing out” of the background. We still don’t have an option to “shut off” reflections. We have alot of default functions and options that have issues. The LOS fuzzy interaction will from time to time knock out graphical details like aerials and lights…that the game doesn’t recognized as part of the hull. So sometimes looking like a very poorly photoshopped photo from the internet of yesteryear.

I get the consideration…but I think the baseline problems of the HUD concept, and the various other core problems with normal mode 3D respresentations need to be discussed.

It does…if you hit the “drift camera” key…you can look left/right/up/down. Its within 180 hemisphere. Some ships the camera is offset…to the “cockpit” location.

However its still pretty basic…and you can’t look behind you. Its not like the much more advanced look and lock system of Frontier.

Its a left over from the project that introduced it. I have a hunch…that the system from Frontier will be integrated at a later point into Tranquliity…for first person…or direct ship interaction.

You have two layers of zoom in it. And a fairly good cone of interaction.

again, if you are going to ruin eve, at lease put a drone aggro marker to know which enemies are attacking them

Thanks for these expected exciting changes. As far as being able to save the HUD goes, my most common use case is resizing a window between half-screen and full-screen. I play with three accounts, and usually have one full screen on one monitor and the others on half of a 2560x1440 monitor. But that means every time I resize, from half to full screen, the windows don’t maintain relative position and ratio to one another. If pictures or a video would be helpful, I’m happy to share.

i was more or less pointing at the fact that the “pilot” cannot “see” so the fpv is more or less cameras and not really what the pilot from the bridge is looking at.

FC Junison:
But like we said in the third blog, this blog is more of a future vision just to share with you where we want to take things, it was not meant to show how we tackle the feedback we have already gotten. We are still working through all of that. Will get back to you all when we have something to show

Why are they not posting this on the forums and instead use you as a parrot? It’s not like setting up a stupid discord bot that mirrors messages like these to the forum. That way, @CCP_Avalon could contribute something useful to this forum again.

How about getting on the discord and reading it for yourself. Im doing this for yall. I can quit if youre gonna bring the attitude
