That functionality should be disabled by default, and a more strict search should be the default and a checkbox to enable this shitshow, for anyone that really wants it.
Either that or you need to hit Enter after typing, I know some of the search boxes are like that.
Strange, all other search boxes on hulls (fitting window, ship hangar) are much more strict on the search.
