Thanks for letting me clear that up. You are thinking of a different channel that was shut down by CCP. We never use anything outside of the normal ways to promote our trade channel. I agree with you that those spam invites were terrible lol. I had every single account spammed for days on end and im glad its over.
But it has the same/similar name so it’s safe to assume it’s the same people.
Exactly.
Nope, completely different people and no connection at all. Its run mostly by an old group of friends and traders who met in Amarr. We are a diverse group. We have streamers, null leaders, mercs, industry giants and citadel owners, traders, etc.
Simmer down ganker.
Thank you for mentioning this whataboutism.
Casinos have their terrible reputations. They get somewhat regulated but common folk know they’re still ruinous. Casinos haven’t tried to address anything and have earned their poor reputation.
Grocery stores get limited by concerned community members via blue light laws or just banned outright from selling liquor. See: state-controlled liquor dispensaries. This is common in certain parts of the US and other countries. It comes with social stigmas. So these problems were addressed by the people who still view state run liquor stores as branded with a scarlet letter.
Restaurants these days painstakingly label every kind of ingredient in a dish or even the ingredients a dish „might have come into contact“. The times a person has had to inquire about ingredients is on the wane. Not all of this is regulation but Restaurants wanting to be better and earning a positive reputation that way.
This is the kind of language that makes you folks come across as completely nefarious and unreasonable. It’s not an absurd opinion.
It’s not absurd that y’all are acting like the casino example above: no regulation, no proactive community engagements, just simple greed.
What is absurd is acting like them and then being surprised and upset for having the same reputation as them. As I said originally: y’all have earned it.
It’s really, crystal clear you are upset with the reputation it has. It’s just part of the business. I’ve been telling you repeatedly — as perhaps your harshest critic — how to meaningfully clean it up. Most people just stay negative and can’t put to words what you’d need to do to change their minds. I’ve given you a roadmap to good reputation. You keep calling it „misguided“ or „absurd“ but it’s no sweat off my back: enjoy the continued poor reputation.
I’m sure if you keep shouting „it’s absurd!“ and „it’s misguided“ etc enough like a 19th century Robber Baron you’ll magically shed that reputation.
Get a hobby…
Ah, grade school insults. Well, I appreciated the constructive dialogue between us while it lasted.
Party on Garth
How are truffles regulated? Couldn’t we agree that the Hypernet is New Eden’s Truffle!
Well Princess knows where to find me!
I don’t know how anyone can come to the conclusion that the hypernet is a scam.
You know what the cost is per ticket and what the odds are per ticket and no action taken by the seller can change this at all. A seller buying half their own nodes doesn’t make it a scam - you still get the same odds per ticket as all tickets must be sold for the raffle to close.
That doesn’t make it a good or wise choice. But it’s no more a scam than your local church raffle.
(in fact it’s more fair as a church raffle every ticket sold lowers your odds)
All a seller buying their own tickets is doing is playing the odds to make a profit. If they buy half and win they get to relist the item and keep half the value of the ticket sales. If they lose then they can’t relist the item and effectively lose half the value of the listing. If they’re any good at it, over time this could make them a significant profit.
But everyone that participates in that raffle gets the odds they paid for. It is in fact completely equitable. If you buy in to a raffle where the tickets are priced unreasonably that’s your own stupid fault. If you buy any tickets and lose that’s your own stupid fault.
But it is a scam, tho. I mean, it is.
Good for it.
I still won’t spend any isk on it
That wouldn’t be a scam, suppose you put up x ship for 8 nodes.
The seller buys 4 of the nodes, if you as the buyer only buys 2 nodes why does it matter who the other nodes belong to? You are only still purchasing 25% of the nodes, you paid for a 25% chance to obtain that ship.
This is very true, the only person being scammed by the seller doing them is the seller, because they suck at math.
I will be buying some hypernet today, I dont have the money, but im gambling what I do have, instead of paying my fee to be omega, im just gonna gamble it all away, i mean invest, i mean try to make more, here we go!!
