These channels already exist.

Nobody uses them, but they are available!

I’ll be! I even found faction ones:

Hm!

Perhaps CCP could give a few hints and assist in making these channels more prominent, so the players know these exist.

The reason Local and most player made chat channels are pretty much dead now is because CCP pushed the playerbase into using these 3rd party sites:

Lot’s of players used Eve Voice… Despite what others may say, the reason CCP ditched it was to make room on their servers, same goes for the in-game browser, Jukebox, Eve Gate, Captains Quarters, etc…

Also let’s not forget in 2018 CCP switched chat channels to run on the cloud based site Ejabberd… From their March 2018 Dev Blog:

Why?

There are several reasons why we want to do this:

  • We want to break up the EVE game server into more manageable parts and this is one of the steps that gets us closer to a Microservices Architecture.
  • Text chat accounts for a significant portion of CPU use on the game server’s proxy nodes.
  • Running text chat as a standalone service with an industry standard protocol opens up new future of possibilities.
  • Easier access to text chat logs for Customer Support.

In the short term, this change should not affect you at all - if we did it right then you will hardly notice a change.

In the long term, this a step towards keeping EVE alive forever, and future proofing New Eden for decades to come.

Local was and still is for socializing, it has become a tool because of null sec mentality

Ahh yes, thank you. I wasn’t aware of the technical details but I do remember it costing resources CCP would rather allocate elsewhere. The music player and ingame browser suffered a similar fate. Back when I played Teamspeak was pretty much the standard way to communicate.

‘I logged in today…..’

This is what logging into EVE should be like….

I remember that show. Much like the game when I joined. Kill or be killed. For all the things CCP said they would never do but had to in the end. Killing pvp is what keeps player count down. Buying your way into a dangerous game makes CCP $ so who needs numbers?

My show was “HR Pufnstuf” … wow the drug references in that show are awesome to reflect upon.

I am now having 1969 Pufnstuf flashbacks now.

Have fun!

You can’t expect a lot of “friends” after a long time. Eve is a social game and you have to build relationships over time.

Very true! Sadly, CCP drove out most players including all my corp m8"s.

What was the issue for your corp mates?

Lack of null targets.
