There’s too many ZEROS in the prices here! I set my wallet settings to NOT show the cents on ISK amounts. But… when I went to sell a bunch of silicate glass on the market, the cents still show on the market. I got confused and listed my silicate glass for a price that was 1000-fold too high… and wasted 700 million ISK on broker fees. A box did pop up saying that I was charging more than the average market price, but the message had green text, so I thought it was a benign warning. Any thoughts or suggestions or lessons or comforting words? After returning to Eve after a decade 2 weeks ago, that wipes out ALL of the profit I made this month!

The fill-in field for Isk amounts is tricky and you are not the first one nor will be the last one to make that mistake. I almost made such huge mistake twice and I haven’t been playing for that long.
Everytime you have to put an amount in such field make sure that you hover your mouse over the amount, a little pop-up will appear telling you exacty how much you have inputted in letters ( seven hundred million ) before you click “OK”.
Might be worth raising a ticket, but don’t demand - or indeed expect - a positive outcome. It is very much a case of “your consequences for your mistake”.
I’ve done something similar more than once - force of habit adding three zeros to the end of a sell order. It hurts: you swear, log off, take a breath, come back and re-earn the loss.
I’ve learn to double check, and sell smaller batches of stuff where I can make that mistake.
You have my sympathy.
Ouch!
I have made a few mistakes in the market too. I bought some items unaware, as to their function, then had to sell them back at a loss. One such item I bought is a skill extractor. These run 500 to 600 million ISK, I still have it stored over in Dodixie in the hopes I either find a use for it or sell it for a tiny profit. I have purchased big ships just to have them explode only minutes after getting them fitted. I don’t get too sweaty on this game, since I have no real cash investment here. But when you lose a month’s worth of ISK from a typo… OUCH!
Have fun!

Without mistakes, we would never learn. You will recover!
Make sure you read all the text shown in popup windows. Never rush. You can miss out on some important info. Don’t worry though. A lot of players have had similar issues over the years. We all make mistakes. Now you learn from it and move on
I filed a ticket and got my 700M ISK returned after waiting for 4 days for a reply. The dev also included a small warning not to expect similar help in the future. HAPPY DAY!!
Happened to me as well, some years ago. Definitely learn from it and take care in the future, they probably won’t do it again.
They did me a favor as well early on. I never asked for a 2nd.
Live and learn.
Yeah, I’m new to Eve and I’ve found that the system can be confusing with the amount of numbers and zeros. It’s not quite a friendly interface for new players or anyone who may be dyslexic.
Kind of the devs to help with the broker fees issue though.
That interface is not just unfriendly to newbies and dyslexics. I’m a scientist, and astronomy enthusiast. I’ve spent a lifetime dealing with large numbers. And in my day-to-day experience, large numbers come with the zeros in sets of three, separated by commas. IRL, I can tell a trillion from a billion at a glance. But with Eve’s market (and many other interfaces such as PI, etc) showing sets of three, plus the unnecessary cents at the end, it throws me off. EVERY TIME. I can’t unteach my eyes how I’ve spent a lifetime dealing with large numbers. I wish I could just remove the ISK cents display from everywhere they show up in the game. I actually thought I had turned off the ISK cents display everywhere when I clicked that option in the wallet, but unfortunately, that only applies to stuff displayed by the wallet, not the whole game.
