What purpose would that serve that the Venture doesn’t already?

This makes no sense, it doesn’t do anything except fill the hold faster and 20 drones so 100 m3 of drone yet still only enough bandwidth for 2 drones???

I can say CCP isn’t gonna consider a ship like this especially for alphas, a better approach, use the existing ship (venture), but increase the ore hold to 10,000 m3 sounds better.

i forgot how the stuff works i mean 20m3 capacity of the drone bay

well it whoud give alphas more Choice in mining ships then a single ship when im mining in a venture i dont feel like im doing a lot in mining fleets compared to other ships. it whoud let alpha players help harvest more ore in bigger mining fleets for Corps and aliances

So, the idea is a faster mining (1.5x faster) tougher (extra midslot) version of the Venture with the ability to field combat and mining drones. That exists in similar forms already; the Prospect and the Endurance, destroyers…

If you feel like you are not helping in a mining fleet then you need to accept that doing the best you can at the skill level you have chosen is a good contribution (your FC will appreciate any contribution - if he doesn’t then he’s the Muppet here). Alternatively there are other fleet roles in a mining fleet that are useful: if you are in a rat heavy area then combat support is useful. A hauler, such as a Miasmos (T1 Gallente specialist ore hauler) is always handy - it keeps the mining Command Ship on station providing bursts to the fleet while you take ore to a station.

If you are after a faster miner in a fleet then look at something like a Coercer or another turret destroyer. It’s got a small hold (not an issue if you’re in a well supported fleet, stay near the command ship and just push the Ore to it). It can probably be fitted for more mining rate than a Venture (CPU will be the challenge, but you can rig and fit modules to compensate). I’d also have a look at a Dragoon - it’ll probably match your proposal for mining performance in a fleet (five drones and three turrets with more low-slots, space in the drone bay for salvage and combat drones).

Talk to your FC. If you are helping the mining operation in being more efficient then he should be including you in the payout - and it can be more fun than just “Kill that Rock!”.

The Alpha player always has the choice of going Omega for the cost of a coffee a week - and in that way they actually support the game rather than just milking it. And please, for the love of god, don’t think you can grind for enough PLEX to go Omega - that way lies disappointed, burnout and rabid insanity.
(OK, that’s a nice coffee not instant disappointment in a jar).

You can go omega if you want more choices.

You have battleships. With jetcaning or hauler friend you have retriever yeld as alpha and much more tank.

Options are there. People just don’t use them. Riches are away from road that everyone is following. Find your own way in your own sandbox.

Venture does this perfectly, pirate faction miners and barges focused on some forms of mining is better.

I once suggested a mining Cruiser with 5 turret slots and 10k m^3 ore hold that would outmine Venture but not a Retriever and be available to alphas, because I still find it weird that a Venture, despite being so cheap and quick to train into, is still the ultimate ship for gas mining. Even though a Gnosis with 5 gas harvesters and a mining command burst outmines a Venture, there aren’t many situations where I would use it over a Venture because of worse agility, less space for gas and lack of built-in stabs.

Alphas dont need more ships.

OP
alpha status is just a way for new players to test eve to see if they like it.
Like the free to play part on many other mmos.
If you wanna play eve without restrictions, then upgrade to omega.
Or maybe you would want alphas to be able to fly cloaky ships, use capitals, etc?

So tldr: no. Your idea is bad.

Alpha isn’t just for new players, I let my accounts go into alpha state regularly when I get bored with the game, and restrictions for alphas are just in place, I don’t think that many people are seriously suggesting for alphas to be able to use cloaks and cynos.

yeah we dont really need more alpha content, alot of things alpha can do to quickly get omega besides just mining 23 hours a day.

#Nostalgia

Reminds me of the time the thorax was a great miningship

All I can say, as an Alpha Industrialists for 3 months now and I think that especially the porpoise, should be an alpha ship, of course at the moment it is a command ship, but if CCP really want Alphas to upgrade to Omega, the players that like mining or an industrialist, they have to allow them to use a better ship, I do think that the barges and exhumers should still require Omega to use. Or you can do it the other way around that the Alphas can use the Retriever, which is the worst when it comes to mining yield per hour and the strip miners are already Alpha level free, but cant be used because they can only be fitted on Barges and exhumers.
Thats just my opinion

If they don’t change that, you can use ships such as a Talos or Megathron for mining(i use those because I’m a gallente clone and have the needed skills for them. The problem with that is especially with the Talos you will be a massive target and you will have a paper-thin tank. so usually put on some warp core stabilizers and I’m always aligned(just jettison your ores, fill it up, fly to a station and get into a Miasmos or a ship with a cargo hold more than 27,500 m3, I use a fully fitted tayra so that I don’t need like 5 haulers

Alphas. Give 'em an inch, and they’ll take a mile…

Alpha should be reverted to first implementation. Max cruiser and racial limit.
