Allow the option to scan only the rocks,gas,ice,etc you have targeted, “focused” or “omni-directional” scan.
Allow survey scanners to be mounted to either a turret hardpoint (“high power slot”) or a midslot, allowing for more customization on ships that would otherwise go without one for more shields, such as the venture. I can see no major game breaking problems from this, other than making some people happy, thus pissing others off.
