If I buy a blueprint and make an omega ship, can I still fly it?

I have an alpha account, and I’m looking into getting into mining, but you need omega to buy a lot of the ORE ships with mining bonuses. Is there any way to build a mining barge and fly it? Or do I have to get omega to use any mining barges?

You have to be omega to fly the omega ships. Regardless if you build them or not
