If you lost all your assets and had to start over how would you go about it?

I agree that the core activity of PI is not directly connected to the EVE universe, and is a bit similar to the hacking minigame of exploration in that sense.

Both are activities that are not directly connected to the core spaceship gameplay. Both are improved by character skills. And both are a puzzle you can solve, after which you gain rewards.
In case of hacking, you can loot the can. In case of PI, you then get a certain amount of goods within a limited time.

The main difference I see between hacking and setting up PI is that you are vulnerable and in space while hacking. You can be completely invulnerable on tether while setting up a planet infrastructure on the other side of the system.

If I would improve the connection of PI to the universe, I would force players to be uncloaked and within range of a planet while building new infrastructure. I’ve always found it strange that I can build all my planets safely from tether.

(Whoops, that was off topic  )

or just require basic materials when performing modifications/update to the system ?

Instead of ISK, to build storage, extractors, factories and such? Sure, why not!

But we should bring it to the planet itself while setting up the planet, and put our ship (with those materials) in danger, instead of safely from tether.

Speaking of off topic, the things that have no connection to spaceship play were things I was being told didnt exist in another thread.

But yeah, make there be a risk to these elements like hacking, and my own objections are withdrawn.

Picking it up in a Nereus doesnt really count imho because the risk is minimal. But I do grant its a spaceship element required in the process.

I could lose everything and it wouldn’t matter much to me at all. Mostly because I have Leukemia and am fighting a totally different fight. But even if I wasn’t, I could start over from scratch, and do just fine in game. It’s about the fun of space flight and all the players of eve and everything they bring to the game. For me, while I like having stuff, I fairly frequently go on selling sprees just to buy different stuff. Which ever flavor of EvE has currently tickled my fancy.

Is there a new ship? I gotta train for it and try it out. Don’t like it? meh, fine, it sits in my hanger till something new comes along, then gets sold so i can buy it. Some ships I keep just because I like the look of them, even if I am not thrilled by their functions. Other ships I keep because I am using them, or plan to in the future, and as for modules… well. They come and go as needed.

So should I lose everything today… I’d be right back at enjoying eve tomorrow, or whenever I next log in. Currently my thing is collecting random corpses I find in my travels around eve. I want to try and fill a station warehouse with players corpses (5 million corpses). Why? Well, because it’s not been done in eve that I know of. With leukemia, my time is pretty limited. So I know my goal isn’t realistic, but it’s still fun to try.

And if I lost everything, I could still fly around in a corvette, and find random corpses. So yeah.

I’m not sure that in the entire history of EVE, that many pods have even been killed. I mean if yes, then just barely, not counting situations where the corpse is unlootable (e.g. abyssal sites).

Prolly not, and it’s basically 200 corpses for every person (25,000 persons). But still fun to mess around with. I know it isn’t actually realistic, but I’m gonna give it the best go at I can anyway just for the lols.

We all got our things lol.

I collect exotic dancers. I burn the extra time to pop structure that have them.

Some stay in a station. My thing when I pvp’d was to take 1 or 2 and put them in ship cargo. Joke bonus loot for whoever popped me.

I think I have… mmmm… maybe 30 ED’s? Both male and female. They sit in my container named “people I imprisoned”. XD.

I would boost my ISK by buying PLEX packs and turning them into ISK.

Then I would find a chill Wormhole Corp and ask them what ship they need.
I would buy that ship and join the WH Corp. If the corp provides the fitted ships, even better.

I would train one of my alts as a Boosting alt and all needed skills for Fleet Command.

The third would be trained as a scout and/or scanner.
