I noticed that the Moa was the most commonly used ship to conduct illegal activity with. Next is the Punisher then Osprey, Gila, then the Venture Consortium Issue.
But why? What makes these ships likely to be used amongst criminal?
If such ships are destroyed and later to be found to have been involved in illegal schemes, shouldn’t the Capsuleer receive some type of recognition, maybe a new type of medal awarded based on the number of ships killed that were part of illegal acts.

I always thought the most popular ganking ships used by criminals were destroyers like Catalysts, Coercers, and some battlecruisers like Tornados.

Notably the only one of those I’d call a good ganking ship is the Vexor, so evidently gankers aren’t big into using input broadcasting.

Criminal and illegal gameplay are roleplay things in this game, and definitely allowed by the game (even if not allowed in a roleplay sense by CONCORD).
Cheating is an entirely different thing. Cheating in EVE is neither illegal nor a criminal act in real life, nor in game, but cheating is not allowed by the game and results in a ban when caught.
Dryson is talking about cheaters, not about illegal activity done by criminals.

Gerald is a prime example of a video gamer who has blurred the line between reality and illusion. It’s obvious that I was referring to the ships used in botting based on the extensive debates I have had on this forum regarding the criminal and illegal aspect of ganking in-game.

Those two things are totally unrelated topics. Botting is cheating and against the EULA, but it is neither criminal nor illegal inside nor outside the game and is not particularly linked to the activity of criminal or illegal gameplay in the game either.

I have him blocked, so thankfully I’m not seeing what he wrote. But I still see the title, and – like you – I thought it was about ships most commonly used in ganking as well. ‘Legal’ and ‘illegal’/‘criminal’ are specific game play terms, and not just random words to lend creative interpretation to. But I know there is a contingent of players who will never get that.

I think the only reason the ships are popular with the macro users, is the cost and play style. Moa is running 10 million ISK and they are cheap for a good PvP cruiser. It boils down to the same reason other honest players use those ships. The macro users are not botting, but have created shortcuts that allow them to attack faster. These ship probably have little to nothing to do with their method of cheating the system.
Just because someone kills you in a Moa, doesn’t automatically mean they are cheating.
