Lots of people run W7 systems specifically for gaming because there’s literally no way to play many good retro games on W10+.
Sob story for them then.
According to the stats I see for gaming platforms, the number of W7 users is tiny compared to W10. Absolutely TINY. Miniscule. I have posted them on my other main topic for W10 for minimum.
Keep the old machine with W7 for that purpose, not modern or new games.
You don’t get to decide that.
The market has already spoken. Prepare the giant box of tissues in 2023.
Still salty about the lack of Linux support that you wish this upon others?
Nope, DX11 and Vulkan runs great on Linux.
So W7 users don’t like to be treated the same way Linux users have been? Funny that. Welcome to the unsupported club soon.
Hope they like retro viruses too! W7 is no longer receiving security updates.
Or browser updates or Steam updates.
That problem is almost completely mitigated with proper computer usage.
It won’t be a problem with Steam for quite a while (specifically for the reason I quoted, in fact). And I’m sure some browser makers will continue support for many years to come.
I’m not arguing against new OS adoption (although Windows gets worse and more intrusive with every iteration), but there’s a reason why older versions are still being used.
EVE Online getting into the 21st century, how cute.
Smart move, though a bit late.
Good day to you, sir.
Edited.
I suggest reading my other thread that details the killing of W7 in Chromium, Chrome and Steam.
How soon is it going to happen?
I give dates and details in it along with sources.
If I was using W7 for gaming or even browsing after 2023 I would be nervous.
I did a quick search but couldn’t find the relevant posts, so please link.
W7 is going to survive as a retro gaming platform for quite a while I think, though gamers who fall into this category will no longer use it as a primary OS at some point in the near future. I know that I’m not going to forget that retro games I like even exist just because MS wants to push through enhanced abilities to data-mine my cringy chats and creepy German pornography habits.
This isn’t about retro gaming. You can isolate old platforms for that. I linked the topic in my first early posts in this thread.
DX11 is already the default graphics layer and has been for some time.
DX9 is ancient - came out in 2002. About time it was dropped.
That doesn’t answer my question. I know DX9 is old.
not trying to be an ass, but did you read the article?
