No, I think they will make all the mykosercin gases worthless as gold. They reduced the need for gases in ship construction, now they will reduce it for the booster gases. If they do, it is okay, I will just mine something else.

I have no hope. It will be another ‘Twice the size, half the yield’-esque change I’m sure.
The game is clearly on a path of pay-to-play to have even the remotest amount of fun.
Giant groups and CC whales. That’s all CCP caters to. And they are becoming fewer and farther between.
They better blow our minds with this update. Otherwise we will all go dormant until they make the game fun and rewarding again.
T2 Industrial Command ships that can actually mine, will cost an eye to make and skill into and will likely only be useable under a capital umbrella
Indeed- Null Sec only. And then it’ll get hunted so often that it’ll be shelved right alongside Titans and Carriers as “ships no one is allowed to undock”.
The update is being (tentatively) released on March 12, so I’m hoping we’ll see the promised dev blog tomorrow (Friday).
They should stop doing major changes. Learn to walk before you run kind of thing.
Change mining one bit at a time. And over time you got something great.
Whats coming smells like a bunch of stuff they are throwing at the wall and hoping for the best like an amateur.
You do realize that they haven’t changed anything since July right? They made changes, and let time pass before making more. Even then, it’s not that much of a change, at least not compared to previous mining updates (read scarcity and DNA changes).
One of the first things that ought to be changed is residue. At the moment you need a degree in math to figure it out.
The new design doesn’t call it residue, but simply “waste” and its a flat %.
So for example
[Miner II]
Yield: 60m3
Waste: 10%
Its easier to understand
And then next there has to be a line of miners that dont have waste and a line of miners that does. Its not good when going from T1 Miner to T2 miner that all of a sudden there is waste.
So imo the strip miners should waste some of the yield. And then a line of strip mining drones can be introduced that like strip miners have higher yield than normal miners, even after accounting for the waste.
Last but not least you can introduce new skill books that lowers the amount of waste of strip miners. GG
T1 mining lasers and strip miners don’t have waste, faction ORE mining lasers and strip miners don’t have waste, and there are already higher-tier mining drones, though they can be quite expensive.
I’m sorry that YOU need a math degree to figure out residue. Most can understand without one. If you don’t want residue, then focus on the zero residue stuff, simple as that. None of your changes address what is the main issue with sov null sec mining, which is what everyone else has been crying about.
This goes against the design choice (wanted by players when residue was first introduced) of not penalizing (and causing the exclusion of) newer players.
Again the issue isn’t residue, it’s the small size of belts compared to the size of alliance’s industrial wings in null.
I don’t mine in null sec, so I don’t know what you consider to be “small” belts. For example, in 0.5 high sec, some of the larger untouched belts can be around 1.4 million m3 total, though the average is around 700k m3.
What I’m getting from this is nullsec is whining that the individual rocks are too small so they can’t AFK 24/7 and actually have to actively mine and pay attention. Join the club. I pop rocks in high sec in 2 to 3 cycles as well, just like you…
If your mechanic needs a degree in math or a spreadsheet to understand you need to start over. Keep it simple stupid
If you don’t like formulas or spreadsheets, you are playing the wrong game…
You shouldnt need a spreadsheet to understand residue
It’s rather simple. If you want every last bit of ore, use T1 or faction. If you want a little bit less ore, but faster, use Type A’s. If you want about 30% less, but a lot faster, use Type B’s. If you want to wipe out an entire enemy’s moon mining OP, use Type C’s…
Who can answer this without looking it up “Which mining crystal is needed for veldpsar and which one for ytirium.”
My point is mining crystals are an abomination too. You literally need a PhD to understand mining
Not to mention the ■■■■■■■■■■■ of different ores + they have a vague names too.
Whoever thought that was a good idea to add that many different ores + different types of each ore is not smart.
Then use T1 strip miners. No crystals required and absolutely zero waste. Problem solved…
You can get the best of both worlds.
A line of non wasting mining requipment to progress through and use that is easy to understand!
And a line of wasteful yet higher overall yield equipment to progress through and use. that is easy to understand!
AND AS A BONUS
NEW STRIP MINING DRONES
I’m a math dummy, and i understand more about the game and such than i do regular math…
