I wans’t reffering to the Expansion, but @MILINT_ARC_Trooper’s suggestions.
The idea of seeding Exordium with NPC sell orders for items is an insane suggestion.
I understand the point…but if you want to teach the new players in Exordium the ideas of market.
It needs either to be fully NPC…or materials made by Exordium players only with Exordium Resources Only. No externals. Potentially they could more directly associate market…with a specific market station again another map training. (Something currently missing in game because there are alot of stations with market modules that are not being used.)
The main problem with the ‘AIR Capsuleer’ idea is this, the Faction that New Players pick basically influences how their Capsuleer will look…
The AIR NPE / Capsuleer Training Program teaches New Players how to interact with the User Interface, execute basic piloting commands and gain a basic understanding of game mechanics…
The only way for New Players to access the Career Agents is to pick a Faction right at the start…
The Career Agents give New Players various skillbooks, modules, T1 ships, ISK and Faction Standing…
Ok. maybe it’s time to sleep for me now. been reading posts on x, truth and on this forum. Seems Oil prices won’t go down any day now. Straight of Uedema is being opened and closed. lol
This concept has been used before in game, as well as Frontier in its playtests.
The NPC buy/sell orders…were used to generate the initial market demand to start the engine.
If CCP is going to allow the system of the Homefronts in there. We are going to see that some of ways to make ISK are going to be NPC buy orders. [Fixed amounts/fixed prices…with higher taxes to boot.]
You can have the NPCs purchase the T0 ores etc…for ISK yes the conversion and taxes will slow down the progression. But that is why then you offer the option of building your own ship and modules as a substitute. (And another learning experience)
Certain components will not be available in Exordium…but We don’t want people people to “import” and drop that on the market for their external profit.
We want to use that component to teach who to trade and contract…via an NPC.
Either you gather an NPC component from an NPC site…then trade/contract with an NPC to get the component or resource to build your own ship/modules.
Exordium needs specific sell orders…items that can not be acquired in Exordium for obvious reasons. But at the same time No one can import from the wider EVE to throw on the Exordium market to manipulate it. Because we want to teach the players to buy/sell/flow of ISK in the economy.
It is still a Sandbox interaction and training system. Its just a fair and straight forward way to train the new players the basics. So once they leave Exordium they understand the basics of how things are done.
And if its NPC oriented, CCP can more carefully tune any problems with the new player experience without external sheenigans of veteran players throwing things off.
Its still a sandbox, players can figure out different ways to play the game in Exordium to an extent of the limitations of that system.
Visitors are welcome…just we need a system more that allows the new players to interact with the mechanics of the game. And having a more NPC aligned and controlled system allows CCP a bit more effective ways to control new player experience. Yes there will be losses, yes there will losers to timed sites and no more ore for the day due to mechanics. And people might not run their missions to the time frame and lose out on extra isk and bonus materials.
I think having a more NPC centric economy in Exordium will also allow CCP to ID botting situations as well. Because massive spikes in certain resources or turn ins would allow them to zero in on botters. Which allows for some filtration as well at the start too. Exordium can work in that way as well.
I think Exordium has some potential (Both good and bad) for the game. We will see how it goes, and if it backfires.
Because the current known rules state that you can’t do it as you are maybe used to in space outside of Exordium.
If we stay at the popular basic shuttle example: as a shuttle feeder i am not going to transport shuttles around the whole universe. I pack my blueprint and my mining ship and go and acquire the minerals in a belt where i want to produce and sell the shuttles.
According to the current rules i would not be allowed to do this in Exordium. I would not be allowed to mine the minerals there without being in some alibi fleet with noobs and even that would be a violation if it is only for alibi reasons.
I would be farming content in Exordium as a 30+ day old character in order to be able to produce my shuttles or other stuff.
So i have to explicitly change my behavior and have the rulebook open on another monitor or something, so that i either bring my minerals with me, buy them from players in Exordium or establish a shuttle transport infrastructure for supplying Exordium.
I have to specifically adapt my possible other approaches of industry since some parts of it will be illegal for me in Exordium, but physically possible. If i don’t place care on the rules, my account could even be banned just for playing as i am used to do, but in the wrong area of EVE.
So no, i can not “feed the new Exordium market as is now”. If i do it the wrong way, i get banned.
This is a crazy outlook, if not outrageous. Either something should be clearly allowed or physically blocked. If there is interpretation possible after the fact already happened and someone can decide they did not like what you do and remove your existence from EVE after you have played for 20 years then this is just not acceptable game design.
New players want to make isk; these will leave the space almost as soon as they find out they cant make much isk here.. people who join for pvp well… and that leaves who exactly? im guessing not many.
Of course i could be wrong but in my limited experience of oh.. nearly 20 years playing every new character seems to be the two I mentioned…
I do hope it goes well but as it looks like you can only leave the region i dont believe there will be much inhabitation.
Personally i think the new region will lack anyone to buy your stuff anyway, i think its largely a waste of time and effort driven by some sort of illogical rationing; rewards are low, newbies want that cash… and they aint gonna make it there.
Why not? People are already discouraged from doing this with higher taxes.
Why via NPC?
So we need to create an infinite NPC seeded supply of items…?
Don’t you realize that you’re going to kill the natural supply/demand sanbox with this? This is an insane suggestion.
And again… Why does it have to be NPC and not player driven?
The mineral refining values can already be seen in the items attributes. They are not as low as CCP made you think in their news articles. They are only half as much as in normal space, not 1/5 or something you might have been expecting.
More than enough revenue for many that just do stuff for fun.
its practically worthless in normal space…
Just assign each new character created the least used bloodline automatically, to improve New Eden’s sense of diversity.
How is it “worthless”? Tritanium is the same item in any space and i can sell it for isk. Something tells me you don’t see the whole picture…
Which from the information being read up on, will be shifted up there.
They can potentially change the way even that start system works. They have done alterations to the start system before even when I started.
So potentially a neutral AIR Capsuleer could be more of an aesthetic choice…with “sub categories” of clone base background.
But once a player gets to a certain point then they chose their empire and the various options they can chose from that point forward. IE into the Career agents.
If you were a neutral you would have to build up standing with various factions…probably having to run an SOCT Epic Arc to get access standing.
So choosing a faction after character creation would give you a leg up on that particular faction.
Being a neutral (AIR) would allow players to chose how they want to proceed, and yes it would be a bit longer method of action. Or if CCP felt so inclined they could add AIR agents which give you ISK at higher amounts which would give you options to buy whatever skillbooks you preferred.
IE AIR Capsuleer with an Amarrian (Biology) -Flying Caldari Ships doing Minmatar Missions because his standings. Yes I know that sounds silly, but it would be more freeform than some of the current character development. To the purists of EVE…this sounds like heresy…but Exordium does give that option to CCP. Where they can consolidate the character creator into the start…and then as you are in Exordium then you select your faction of choice…or stay AIR and go from there regardless of how you look.
Its up to the Devs, but I think Exordium actually gives them an option to offer a completely different start as well. Which could make it interesting for alot of players.
because it takes an hour to mine about 4mil isk worth and you cant build anything with it.
How is this not possible now? … Do you even play EVE online?
Are you trolling now?
Veldspar-0 and Scordite-0 and other *-0 ores refine to the same standard minerals as in the whole universe. If i bring a blueprint i can build things.
Time for acquiring is not relevant for anything and here it is only even 1/2 when compared with *-1 ores.
Time is money; are you ok?
Your not gonna build much with 4 million isks worth of trit…
TIME is always relative…
.
You clearly lack basic understanding of EVE players. Some don’t build for profit and for some also time is clearly irrelevant.
Shuttle feeding for example is mostly an ideological thing for fun. But it can get you banned in Exordium as described above.
You need to realize that for some just getting any isk and mineral volume is just enough. Not everyone is going after maximizing it. Nor does everyone need to acquire PLEX or whatever. Some are just playing the game for fun and have a subscription, eliminating any need for income optimization.
