Hi, do we know what the Jita portion of this update means yet?
Might have to wait for fanfest, it could just have been an event to kick off escalations to war(s) as the next three expansions are focused on the Empires being at war.
Oh I remember those “catastrophic impacts”
I, like most players, simply adapted to changed circumstances.
Others wet the bed and whined.
CCP does not have the best track record for getting players to do what they want vs what players want to do. Abusing the mechanics of the game has been a hobby of players for over 20 yrs now. Grid Fu being the best example I can remember.
I will wait and see…
To my mind, the huge flaw, if I have understood the format correctly, is that even a new player quickly acquires quite a collection of small ships if they do the Career Agents. Even if they only do one set of Career Agents, they end up with, off the top of my head, two Ventures, two haulers, a combat frigate, an exploration frigate, and a destroyer. Easily achieved within the first 30 days. Under the existing system, one could set up base close to the starter system and ferry the ships to the preferred station, at least for an initial period of follow-on growth. Now, one either has a one-way trip out via shipcaster, or one has to ferry out via Yulai…
@Mike_Azariah you have probably the best knowledge of current starter mechanisms; have I missed something?
if they choose to keep the ships or sell them, they can move them out one by one out of exordium, even before the 30 days or so.
But only through Yulai, surely? The problem is that then becomes the determining factor in where they set up base. Ferrying ships is a little tedious, so one does not want to go to far. Up until now, a new player would have started in one of twelve, reasonably spread out, starting locations and could easily find a new home, permanent or temporary, near their particular starting point. The great value of the Career Agents’ generosity in giving out multiple frigates is that it means a new player can afford to lose a Venture and still have another to continue an early career as a miner. Lose a hauler, and still have a spare on which to fall back. Now, all they will be able to do is ferry out via Yulai, which means being forced into a cluster around Yulai. Selling the ships seems unlikely to be a profitable exercise inside Exordium, as the ships being sold will all be the Career Agent types…
Seal clubbing as justification as a right of passage in Eve Online is such a sad take for someone to make.
I understand alot most of the players in Eve are reductive and break the game down to just numbers and a rat race to the finishline. But seeing some of these post about shooting newbies is really disheartening and makes me think that part of the reason some folks may not join or stick around is how hostile Eve can be.
That’s the unique selling point of EVE, though. It is also the only gameplay loop EVE has to offer: Shoot/Destroy other people or profit off of people shooting/destroying each other.
Or with the right mentors they could help the newbies by getting their stuff hauled out or go back and retrieve it if they need it
I dont purposefully seal club, but if i notice new player i reimburse their ship (unless they get angry in chat).
I think the game is built around clubbing each other, but with newbies its good to use squeaky clown hammers so it doesnt hurt as much.
That is forcing them to place trust in others in the first 30 days… very risky, and very constraining. I would have left the game in such circumstances.
Did you pack all your ■■■■ up when you did the soe arc after the tutorial and career agents? Probably not. You took one ship and started your adventure.
Most players I’ve met just leave their stuff there so they know if they need it they can go back for it.
Everyone is different. In my case i would love to get the necessary information and insights through tutorials or figure it out myself.
A social kindergarden where i would be contacted every 5 minutes if i wanted to ask something or need help with something to do would be very offputting for me if i was a new player. I would surely not seek a mentor when starting to play a game.
Some also don’t have the possibility to do voice comms or righteout hate it - same with constant chatting when they just want to try out the game or figure something out for yourself.
But everyone is different of course. I just hope that gets taken into account and someone could block everything if needed to.

YES!!! With every single account, Omegas and Alphas, and every single character. Work out where I am going to live, move stuff there, then do Bloodstained Stars once settled in. As I say, the spare ships are useful, allowing one to take the odd risk with easy replacement in the event of loss.
I would surely not seek a mentor when starting to play a game.
Spot on, especially in a game renowned for scams and treachery.
Huh. I joined EVE University relatively early. Found their resources (wiki) super useful, they had great reputation and you were able to participate whenever you wanted to.
Moving wasn’t an issue for me, because I found a spot to move to, then moved everything. Not the other way around, haha.
Edit: oof, this is the main feedback thread. Well, SPAM it is.

Well, ever since I first started playing Eve, I’ve been in RUN Starter Corp and have met a lot of new players who actually want to move all their stuff from the starter systems…
I was actually the same way when I first started, didn’t have much which could all be moved rather easily.. As I got older and accumulated a lot more stuff, I stopped caring about it all being in the same place… Mainly because it would take way too much time to move everything..
The selling point of EVE is cool spaceship game. Before high sec was ruined by organized ganking (a process that took years between 2010 and 2020) it had the overwhelming majority of players. When confronted with peeveepee, most of them did not move to nullsec for safety, they left. Now we have a game with four-digit players and a whole lot of multiboxing financed by whales. This is a brittle environment slated for failure.
Will the Concord “diplomatic” focus of Exordium translate to any specific game-play related activities for capsuleers?
In a previous announcement it was stated that “They hope to use the region as a safe haven to foster unity between their member states, providing a space in which continued diplomatic communication can be guaranteed, no matter how dire the situation becomes in the wider cluster.” They being Concord.
Thank you.
Cool spaceships were always a backdrop for the main selling point. Every trailer back then prominently and exclusively featured people shooting at each other and every narrative revolved around Everyone vs Everyone, which is what EVE stands for.
