I feel this update is more about amount of new installs. And newbie systems are moved into this one area, so that it would be easier to recruit them, so that they end up in whatever quicker. No? ![]()
The way I understood that there will still be at the very least 4 different starting areas. But perhaps you are right that is still 3x less than currently and if the new center area of that region will be some kind of tradehub and it will allow depots then that would make recruiting easier too. The way I see it depots are still the best (most-visiblee) recruiting tool EVE has.
There will be 12 starting systems, around the central system with unique trade hub station.

Honestly not sure which is more surprising… that CCP finally introduced a “newbies” (aka: protected) area for new players -or- that some players can still find something to gripe about (aka: not being able to gank them). These systems are probably going to be boring as sin and have little to no revenue opportunities, so I’m not sure I really see the downside here…
I keep telling y’all, Exordium gonna be the new Jita.
Not with the increased taxes that will be in Exordium
Assuming they stay that way. CCP will adjust everything in the direction the most profitable wind blows.
Jita “lite”. Maybe all the local scammers will move there…
You don’t need to exactly move there…you can easily found a local branch of your business by either creating a new character or open a new account altogether.
The Red/Black pill concept is a mentallity or cultural idea that is relatively simplified for consumption.
IE someone could get up into Exordium and spread stuff about EVE.
Red Pill - EVEs mechanics are bad and grindy (Not exactly a false hood but negative perspective) Is an example.
Black Pill - EVE is X whatever a bittervet wants to spread to drive off people out of the game. Is an example. [IE generally a hatred real or imagined.]
Understand that also applies to characters and corporation in EVE as well. So someone constantly says something of a group…lets say take example the TEST vs Goonswarm vs Fraternity propaganda warfare across EVE and outside of it.
You don’t have to gank grief new players to ruin their experience.
@Power_Armor and @Sonder_Majus I just am concerned that with all these new players in one spot, its easier for certain thought processes, propaganda, and “This is the way to play EVE” becomes highly entrenched from day one.
Lets say you Red/Black Pill someone on mining…well there goes alot of content because people are not going to touch it. (Because of real or not perspectives fed to them.)
What if you Red/Black Pill someone on a specific alliance…well then people will never interact with them or treat them with hostility from the outset. (Yes some groups do deserve this, but others not so much.)
Or lets go one step further…some streamer starts promoting certain content, or even how to start EVE and players get confused or the intent of the streamer is to red/black pill potential new players in EVE? Because the experience in Exordium will be different from outside EVE?
They will probably moderate them pretty heavy in there.
And I think having a healthy solo player base will also generate alot more targets, as it is alot of people do not have the time or money to either do corporation activities or multibox.
It should be a choice for players, progress down the line solo…and interact and play with other players as a solo player. Then later on…decide if they want to expand their repetoir with alts or multiboxing. Although if CCP (Now FP-Fenris Productions) adjusts the standing problem. Solo characters can be more flexibly maintained and get options to content across New Eden.
I hope in the future that solo players can chose their own NPC corps for RP sake. But I can understand the hostility of Corps needing fresh blood to replace burned out players and turnover/defections from their organizations.
Scamming in Exordium will be against the EULA.
Probably (hopefully). I honestly wouldn’t miss seeing the scam aspect done away with entirely…
Not probably, definitely.
That would be a 1st.
Indeed.
We will see how this works out.
It will be interesting to see how it works out.
I honestly don’t see any downside. New players have a safe region to get to know the game better (maybe sticking around longer and converting to Omega) while at the same time not being very lucrative
Is Exordium going to be Alpha-only?
No, anybody can go there. However there will be set stipulations on what a vet can and cannot do.
