Introducing The Bounty Bid

I’ve launched The Interstellar Bureau of Bounties, an unofficial, player-run bounty board for EVE Online.

Anyone can sponsor a bounty by sending ISK in-game to Officer Bounty using Give Money. Put this in the reason:

Bounty: Exact Pilot Name

Sponsor names are kept anonymous. The site lists active bounties, tracks eligible killmails, and calculates payouts.

How payouts work

The calculation uses Jita sell prices for the target ship and its destroyed items. Dropped items are excluded. The net Platinum insurance benefit is deducted, then 70% of the remaining value is divided among eligible hunters, subject to the bounty’s remaining balance. 10% of each hunter’s gross payout goes toward operating the bounty board. Paid at the same time as the bounty pay out.

Capsules have no value in the calculation, but destroyed implants do count.

Payouts are reviewed and sent manually once a month at a minimum. The site records what is owed and checks Officer Bounty’s wallet journal to verify transfers; it never sends ISK automatically.

Take a look at the site for the rules, awards and payout history: https://thebounty.bid.

I do not think a 4-day-old, reputation-free character is a compelling choice for a “service” that requires people to send you unwarrantied ISK.

aiko alt? or maybe it’s another one ugly cat alt.

Aiko is too cool for this.

Fair concern. Officer Bounty is a new character, so I understand why people may be hesitant to send ISK. The deposit and payout process is documented, and payouts are verified against the character’s wallet journal. I expect trust to build through a visible track record over time.

Well, there was a bounty system ingame, with instant payouts and rugpull proof… and it did not work at all, so as fancy as it seems, it’s hard to see why a 3rd party replacement for it would work. You face same issues the old system did - you pop yourself and collect all the isk.

I’m not reading the OP for obvious reasons, but from the handful of words that managed to nonconsentually enter my eyeballs, it sounds like it’s probably meant to be loss-value based - not like the original bounty system, but the more recent one.

That one wasn’t really effectively self-claimable, but it was still pretty pointless, and noobs would start hyperventilating when someone threw a random driveby bounty on them.

he just deducts insurance value, drops, and then pays the rest (minus 10% fee), effectively giving you 90%+ srp for your pews if you get alt on killmail. Funny that you mention the noob hyperventilating tho, I remember you could absolutely trigger the spiciest reactions by placing bounties on whoever was already triggered for dirt cheap, that was some tears   This one probably won’t work, like, even if he automated evemail sendout to tell you a bounty was placed, it would not have the same panache as ingame notification/board.

But than again, that system was quite complex (albeit flawed) and still did not make the cut. Bounty hunting is one of those fantasies that sounds great on paper, but reality of the game hits you harder once you actually try to play the role.

like i said in your other one, this is basically a hunt capsuleer freelance job

Thanks for the mail idea. It is now implemented. There are 10 automated, rotating mails that notify a target when a bounty has been placed on them. Here is 1 example:
