Also, congrats on this.
“CCP released a thing they said they would release, therefore they agreement with my opinion” takes the cake as the dumbest thing I’ve read all month long.

Everyone,
If you are in the U.S. please view the following bill which was introduced into the Senate this year.
https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/senate-bill/1629/text
Simply write to your congressman/woman and request this bill have an added portion to cover this type of online gambling. At the time of this post this is all we can do. If you want change act on it. Companies will always do whatever it takes for a profit regardless of the morality of it unless there is written law which prevents it. Companies are already figuring out how to worm around the “loot box” issue and this is a prime example. Let your voice be heard and you too can help put the hypernet Relay on the chopping block. Might take a few years of legislation, CCP will have recovered any investment from allocated dev time, and thousands of people will become gambling addicts before then, but totally not CCPs fault right guys?
CCP has no need to go there. PLEX gives them generic RMT for any in game asset that can be traded for isk. Why would they mess with a system that’s already working, and break one of their core features?
The CCP ban-hammer makes it harder for people to get help. There’s very little CCP can do about external sites. Free to play means alts are super easy to replace, so it comes down to ip address bans to try and shut down the transfers. That doesn’t address the sites or their communications channels. CCP can only play whack-a-mole to stop third party gambling and RMT.
The number of players using out of game tools to run this type of raffle is probably a lot bigger than you think it is, but no one talks about it because of the ban hammer.
From reading the linked proposal, the hypernet most likely won’t be regulated by it anyway. Good try though :P. I think we need less government infringements on our freedoms and anyone whom doesn’t like certain games/features are free to not purchase them or the game. Speaking with dollars goes further than some half assed regulation attempts.
All that aside I am enjoying the hypernet and have made billions already!
Hence that mention of you need to have something added for it to cover the Hypernet. CCP found a nice way to worm around the current anti-gambling laws. Personally I only care about things that encourage gambling addiction of which this is one. I already had my son stop playing and move to something else once news of Hypernet got dropped.
Can you tell us how you would word it or what kind of language you would use to specifically cover the Hypernet, or is this a “hey Congress, do something about this” kind of thing?
Maybe not, but various states are now banning flavored vape products because the federal gov’t wouldn’t act fast enough after all the deaths from people apparently “smoking”… vaping… whatever… the THC-infused vape liquid ■■■■.
And American parents hate gambling and video games ALMOST as much as they hate drugs (*and sex), is what I’m getting at.
I am not sure what planet you are from where supposedly everyone hates it, but pretty much everyone I know gambles once in a while and also plays video games, even if they have kids. Even in states where it is supposedly illegal to gamble you can still go to indian casinos within those states and also gamble at cards as long as the game is not against the house. Hint: They charge a fee per game to play but you play vs other players. Kindof similar to the hypernet where they are charging the cores for the “venue” and players are setting up the raffles for isk.
As for gambling and loot boxes for kids lol… Look at kinder eggs, LOLsurprise, the claw game, bubble gum machines with those toys in them, and many other ones. Kids can already buy legal loot boxes in any store. Parents all over are even buying them for their kids. ANd here we have people bitching about a raffle for a known item in a space game. “Gambling” is all around us from the time you are old enough to go out anywhere.
Is this gambling?
stop advertising this as some “revolutionary trade system”, its a raffle system.
gambling, any game of chance where money or items are staked against the outcome.
Lottery, bingo, casino games, penny up. This not really getting around gambling rules, just ignoring or amending it.
But it’s their game, so you have a choice not to play.
Because the entire business model of the F2P cash shop revolves around making the cash shop mandatory for progression. It’s like with the new lottery system: they could have made it work purely with ISK, but they want to get cash from the whales. Maybe the next thing they introduce is T3 frigates that can only be bought in the cash shop, and you really don’t want to lose in PvP do you?
There’s very little CCP can do about external sites.
The sites themselves? No. Banning every character involved with them? Yes. Alpha alts only matter if you never cash in that ISK by transferring it to a real character, and once you make that transfer you’ve identified your real character to CCP and risk getting it banned.
And yes, nobody talks about it, which is the point I keep trying to explain to you. A potential gambling addict does not have easy access to third-party gambling, they do have easy access to CCP’s new gambling option.
Which I’m sure is no coincidence when CCP gets free profit from every lottery that doesn’t finish…
The post was more of a stop complaining, but if you actually want to do something here is a pathway since CCP won’t do anything. They have already plainly stated by introducing Hypernet they want to encourage gambling addiction. Actions speak for themselves, and very loudly I may add. A lot of this would be rectified if they just increased the age rating of EvE Online.
Hi,
Just stopping by here saying what a GARBAGE is is. Also saying that @Ryan_B_Thiesant is well known alt dropping by on forums only to defend questionable actions on behalf of Pearl Abyss and CCP. Kids you are being played. Do you see through it?

Things like this hypernet relay should not be tolerated by the community.
Huh, your “summarizing” video is mainly favouring this new “Relay” thing.
They don’t want us. They want diferent playerbase.
CCP is dumb.
If you’re going to gamble on anything make it the killboard and open it to sports betters.
Stop ■■■■■■■ with the game mechanics.
Suggestion:
Move character generated Hypernet Ads to their own restricted chat inside the Hypernet UI.
This is getting out of hand.
So much this
