He is far more calm than most of the people posting.
Too many people āsplit hairsā. Better off having at least some sense of humor about itā¦
Edit;
Weird flex, but ok.
Iām not reading the 2500 post backlog on this but at what point is CCP going to realize that a 10% rake (5% mandatory layout on 3-day raffles) is horrible for using the hypernet as a way to sell items? The hypernet would be a good way to sell items that donāt normally move fast (rares, t2 bpos, shiny officer gear) since you can market to a wider audience than āpeople with 400bil to burnā, but the time limit and massive house stake make it a really inefficient and risky way to operate.
A lot of traders have stopped using the hypernet for basically everything already, because itās not a comparable option to forums/market/contracts for selling things unless your business model is 100% tying to appeal to gambling addicts with the gambling aspect.
A 5% rake and a 15-day time limit on raffles,* with a better search function, would turn this into a legitimate market tool for traders trying to sell their wares.
*For that matter, why not something like ā3 days until you can manually cancel the raffle, but you can leave it up for up to 15 if you want?ā or āafter 5 days people can get ticket refunds, but if your buyers actually want the raffle to continue & complete they can also let you sell out the remaining tickets.ā The 3-day arbitrary limit is one of the worst anti-seller and anti-customer policies Iāve ever seen.
But thatās not the intended purpose soā¦traders already have the market, auctions and contracts soā¦
If itās not a place to sell items, what is it for?
I mean they could just introduce an actual roulette table thatād serve the same function, more smoothly. If itās for pro gamblers they could put in poker and blackjack, which require more skill & more fun (compared to the zero skill required to buy hypernet nodes) and are something a lot of people want in the game.
Unless the hypernet is solely a way to gamble while getting around banned-for-gambling restrictions in the E.U., of course. In which case, would it hurt to make it a better marketing tool as well as a way to milk gambling addicts?
Itās a lotteryā¦
ā¦you answered your own question correctlyā¦
unless the hypernet is solely a way to gamble while getting around banned-for-gambling restrictions in the E.U.
This I agree as v1 is garbage. No sorting, chat is now borked and tools to find good lottos MIA to name a fewā¦
Not pooping on you BTW, just think you are not seeing the forest for the treesā¦
My guess is that CCP/PA will introduce NES items soon that can ONLY be sold via HyperNet. Special skins, augmentations, fashion, etcā¦
(Moan) Now I donāt like it.
Iām just guessing but it kinda feels like thatās where this is goingā¦not only would that pull ISK out of the game but real money could be used to buy these special things to then convert to ISK via the HyperNetā¦
I hope Iām wrongā¦
I ābetā your not!
Cheeky monkey
maybe, but this is my tree - Iāve got a lot of stuff thatād be great to sell on the hypernet, except I donāt wanna frontload 10b at a time and watch it go up in smoke when I canāt spam my ads 24/7 for 3 days straight to sell stuff. Net sellers are getting carpel tunnel trying to out-spam each other because we canāt just post things and let them sit for 2 weeks as people search to find them
Use auctions and advertise on forums/etc to get better visibility (itās cheaper too)ā¦at the moment, HyperNet is a mess and mostly useless now.
Auction contracts suck/are bugged, they often end at random-ass times so itās really hard to bid on them without getting sniped all day.
Forums are the best tool but donāt get quite as much visibility, and youāre still stuck advertising to people who can afford the full price of the module - which is a really limited number compared to the number of folks whoād throw in 35mil to bet on the module.
Hypernet would be an absolute godsend for me, personally - except that itās been made needlessly terrible.
Spam hyper net offers are ugly to see and should be ugly to make.
Hyper net browse window shows a random selection of offers.
Making offer visibility fair.
Auctions that end at a random unknown time, limits snipping.
I just want my Amarr local to be great again, man. Itās filled with hyperspam. I have quadrupled my mainsā blocklists and Iām still adding to them every time I pop out of my WH into HS. My new alts I made in June still see all the crap in Amarr and Jita and surrounding environs, though, it really drives home how valuable to me the time it took to make those blocklists on my mains is.
But boy would it have been nice if CCP had saved me and all the other people hand-blocking the spammers the work by putting all of this trash in a walled off new channel that didnāt infect the rest of the game, eh?
And while trying to compete with the other spammers youāre all being added to dozens and dozens if not hundreds upon hundreds of block lists that might have been interested in one day buying a contract from you, but since the contract spam and the hyperspam and all the other stuff must either be fully blocked or not blocked at allā¦ ah yes, what a choice.
Local in Amarr was dead anyway. Now you have spammers/scammers at leastā¦
This is one of the best sinks to have ever been released. It sucks out PLEX from the economy, it sucks out ISK, you canāt ask for a better sink.
CCP please add more sinks such as these to the game!
Lies, damnit! ;D
Okay, itās not ALWAYS hopping, and it certainly was more fun and active a few years back. But thereās some regulars still around (Tenla, Tish, Zander, etc. etc.) always screwing around in local chat, sometimes on the undock. I havenāt seen Chribba and his Veldnaught much in years but Max Singularity still undocks his Apostle now and then and plays Space Pope on the undock.
Much fun, trolling, fights, heavy RP, etc. etc. in local compared to Jita where the spams and scams just drown it all out.
But yesā¦ itās not the good olā days anymore. Still, itās not too late for some good new days. Butā¦ the hyperspam is making it difficult, I can tell.
After blocking 300+ toons in the past month, Jita is actually nearly tolerable. And there ARE some people in there with similar blocklists to mine, presumably, having conversations and stuff. But I live near Amarr, not near Jita, and only go to Jita when I have to for a good buy/sell deal.
