Introducing the HyperNet Relay

I don’t see anything wrong with that being a possibility. It would be a bad idea to do so anyway and reducing the chance you sell your item, considering it isn’t free to start a raffle.

wonder if some of those people get their accounts back if CCP is doing the same thing

Scroll up a bit, I’ve already explained in earlier posts how this ‘smart idea’ has a negative expected value.

I, personaly, have no problem with this. Another piece of the game I happily can and will Ignore…

…but the second I see someone linking to this in fleetchat and shouting “Promo!” on coms I promise I loose it!

Also, I want it on public record that I hereby retract my standing ovations for CCP when they axed Somer.

Nope. In this case i will sell an item AND i will get my own item back  so i can put it back for selling againt.

It’s not. You are. The options are:
8, 16, 48, 512.

You can set either hypernode price or total price. But the fields are… really bad. Like, it’s trying to take what you’re entering in either field, do all the math, and display both fields as you enter it. Which means it’s trying to re-resolve the number you’re in the middle of typing as you type it. If you want to go from 1,000,000 to 900,000, the moment you delete the ‘1’, it resolves to ‘0’.

Using BACKSPACE and DELETE in the middle of a number also makes it go all sorts of insane.

EDIT: in fact, it’s showing me decimal values on the prices, and only showing her rounded integer values.

A somewhat “brave” decision by CCP to decide they have a lawyers workaround to avoid multiple countries gambling regulations.

Usually people who take on Governments regulations, with such tricks, gain a name for themselves.

The name is the Convicted.

Yea, or you lose the item and sell it for only part of the value you would get in the first place. The end result is that your expected value is exactly the same as the price you would get when you sold all the tickets.

Except that you now have a lower chance to sell your item in the first raffle (since you can get it back) and each raffle costs you money.

End result: you’re losing money.

And you assume that people will have a 100m worth item on a raffle for 100m. But in reality a 100m worth item will go for 300m and the ticket number will decide how small of a cut others will have to pay. So even if you buy ur own tickets you still make money. And please refrain from using words like “Expected” it means nothing.

See you again soon!

‘Expected’ most certainly means something if we’re talking about probabilities that some people attempt to exploit. If you want to calculate how much money you can make from a gambling system like this, you should know that.

Why the limitation to NPC stations? At least if there is a way to make them private, I don’t think there is a problem applying them to Null Sec citadels.

@CCP_Dopamine Is it ok for Belgian players to keep play the raffle system in EVE Online? I will obviously not use that mechanics in anyway to avoid being fined.

“As the Nationale Loterij has the monopoly on organising lotteries at a national level, no other nationwide lotteries exist. At the level of municipality or province, however, it is possible to receive an incidental license to organise a raffle or a tombola. The license can only be awarded if the profits of the tombola are exclusively destined for the public benefit. In recent years, on average about 50 raffles have been organized each year.”

PS: Is there a possibility for an opt-in? In the oworst case an opt-out so I can proove I am not breaking the law while playing EVE Online ?

Exactly. It means nothing since we are talking about profitability. And it doesnt have to do anything with expecting a value of a randomly generated number.

When you enter a casino for profitability your most profitable move is to walk back out with your money, because the expected value of any of their gambling games is negative.

And we arent the users but the casino. You are missing the point.

We’re still the users. The only one winning here is the house, who is selling you HyperCores.

So, this is how you repay those that CCP banned from 3 years ago before World War Bee. People like Iron Bank and corps like IWantIsk along with SomerBlink 8 years ago.

Looks like to me you are manipulating the rules to benefit not only yourselves as a company, but to those willingly to invest in HyperLink.

What’s next, you going to ban them too, once you the company realizes the damage is irreversible.

Might as well quit while you’re ahead.

Should we call it ‘HyperBlink’?
