Introducing the HyperNet Relay

Spending RL money on tickets and here in the uk, raffles am classed as a lottary/gambling

Selling it from npc sell orders will help remove lots of isk from the economy, this is something I can support. But if ccp can make money then that is also beneficial for the game, as they can fund more releases and features.

Tbh I have no idea. All I know is that it seems to be their new favourite word.

No matter the studies you claim, I and many others will see no correlation between this and gambling. It’s so hard to gamble with this that it’ll be the same as being addicted to buying omega, something I mentioned previously.

Agreed, they will likely unsub but the profits will counteract their unsub loss. I think this will be fun to use when it comes out.

Depends on your part of the world your from and your laws in your country

Yup, because back then the majority of players had enough pull financially to force ccp’s hand. However the demographics of the game changed. Lots of players unsubbed, whether from blackout, or cyno changes etc, so the impact of unsub is negligible now.

Also ccp has always made a good balance. People used to RMT, plex really hurt it. People used to want to increase skill training, injectors do that. Now people wanna have fun and risk some isk, the relay will help do that.

Next will be Gold Ammo

What about, “You cannot dock Supers or Titans in NPC Stations and you cannot create a HyperNode from a Keepstar.”?

Your not winning money, which kills any argument that it’s gambling. I don’t know how the UK does it but this won’t be considered gambling anywhere.

in the uk raffles am classes as a lottary which is gambling under uk gambling law.

That is a fair enough point. Except you cannot blame people from reacting however they react in a situation like this, where we are all getting caught with our pants down (except for CSM…) and CCP is not providing any answers. In a way, similar to the BO debacle, the CSM guys are left out to dry. to try and defend a feature which is not welcomed nor appreciated.

One would have thought that CCP had learned their lesson from the BO debacle. And it looks also that Hillmar forgot his company is “a learning company” as he stated in the doc A Tale of Internet Spaceships

By now, CCP should be up in arms trying to defend this and should be responding instead of letting CSM respond

And my original question remains. If this was such a good idea, if this was a feature that was expected to succeed, then why didnt CCP announce it fully in Vegas or London? My personal opinion? Because they know it is a bad idea and announcing it live would have created a riot. And they would have been booed out of Vegas and London

Oh and by the way, I honestly dont think CCP reads anything on these forums at all.

I’m still waiting for someone to show me actual proof that this is violating gambling laws because I’m not seeing where video game assets like ships and injectors count as “gambling”.

Raffles for money and physical goods, sure.
Raffles for video games stuff? Let’s see the proof.

Cute how you still think they will use that money to fix things.

Have you done this with a Titan? It’s not cheap. CCP should put a Keepstar :european_castle: in LS, as close to each hub as possible. Then you could dock your PHAT CAPS immediately and let the games begin!!! Operators are standing by. :phone:

its going to go on hilmars next wak-a-do idea

Well, semantics aside, that’s debateable if not wholly incorrect. I think it always pays to check, as, irrespective of which side of the debate one may sit (if not on the fence) facts are always good - if at times awkward.

There has been a Select Committee which was tasked with looking into such matters as lootboxes, skins, and in-game mechanics similar to the one proposed here (which could be classified as gambling in a leglislative context) - and it was apparent that the Gambling Commission was currently constrained by legislation, but would be willing to act to limit or prohibit similar in-game activities in the future.

And yes, they did appear to view such mechanics where real money was involved as ‘gambling’.

That’s in the UK, where the servers reside. YMMV depending on location.

Bc you can translate it - albeit indirectly at times - into PLEX which can then pay for your sub. This is an ingame currency being used to pay for a service - vis-a-vis “cashing out” as the terminology goes. This paying for a service is what makes it rl gambling.
