I already did start with a frigate…which got gate camped on my very first trip into lowsec. Not something you see in the ’ go exploring in Eve’ glossy video
Do you want an Incursus fit? I can can set something up next time I’m around Dodixie. Need to know your PG/CPU/WU/AWU skill levels. Train for T2 blasters.
It really does not matter how many ships you’ve lost in this game. Unless you are losing Supers or AT ships no one else will care. Believe me - I’ve lost thousands.
Some null blocks will practically pay you to lose them, I think goons srp was about 60% for solo roaming and you would get a fleet logi back for free on start ops.
But unless you lose a bunch you’ll never learn to win.
I have a Vexor with 320 DPS capability, a Catalyst with 400 or so ( I hear full T2 Catalyst can manage 720 ) and a Caracal with fairly high DPS. I’m not that keen on the Vexor as I don’t see how drones are gonna cope with gate camps…and most of that 320 DPS is drones.
With my Character 2 I specifically trained for the Caldari ship Caracal. And then added Hecate. I am also in a corp that has excellent fittings setups for Gnosis and other such ships., but in this character I have trouble with CPU/Capacitor for all but their most basic setup. That’s what comes from trying to balance mining and combat skills. Char 2 is solely for PvP and racing ahead in the skills for that.
Killboards are fun for some, but for real fun, ignore them.
One of the most fun situations I had was trying my hand at tiny, cheap PVP by going to frigate only combat sites in lowsec. I was in a somewhat slow, but solid iron Punisher. A Kestrel kited me and I could not catch him, but I had a little active tank going and he could not break me. I think he used up all his missiles and flew away. Perfect fun and even if either one of us had goofed, it would have been no big loss. If was fun to see there are situations where it is like a tic tac toe game where it will inevitably be a cats game.
There is an anti-gank/gate camp channel you can look into. I can’t remember it’s name, but the conversation there is cool.
Gate camps can be fun if you fit up to try and run through them. That’s a fun art in itself.
Also, this is where that team fleet thing is useful. I really miss that little merc corp I was in before ccp wiped out high sec war decs, for the most part. Here, have some cheese with my whine.
It’s okay, we don’t need war decs in the new EVE, because we have mining waste. Fit up some special crystals to your barge and shoot your enemy’s rock in order to beat them in the PvP mining battle. Fun for the whole family!
I sense a hint of sarcasm in the air.
I may for real have to do that. I feel like it’ll be great fun.
Once, in Wrath of the Lich King, I (Horde) and an Alliance player were going for the same Frost Lotus. I was a rogue, so I could out-CC him. I picked it and ran away, taunting him in local chat after I got into the air.
Like half an hour later, a fresh Horde character started spamming me and calling me the n-word over and over again. I replied with different movie quotes until he got bored and quit.
Yup. Been there, done that. Just today as a matter of fact.

You look a lot like the gnomes I loved killing in Stranglethorn Vale:
Be mindful of your thoughts Destiny. They’ll betray you.

Holy @Q#$%#@$, Batman. I just realized this forum stuff is my new Eve PVP/PVE/Fun!!
You’re gonna have to choose a faction.
Uh…Scotch…is that valid? Smile…
@Cilla_Cybin This is really good advice. If your total pvp experience consists of losing a Tristan to a gate camp, you are gonna be down a Hecate fairly quickly. Spend the same amount of isk on 20 blaster frigates, lose them, THEN think about taking the Hecate out.
Me, and a whole lot of other folk in eve. NaCl is far more valuable than isk.
It’s no bother much at all. Just a few clicks and you’re in a sparkly new cat, or hecate, or talos or whatever (no tornados…touching a tornado would be heresy of course) with the same fit you just used in your last social experiment of EvE.
Is it safe to assume that you haven’t found how to fit from your saved fittings yet?
You actually can pretty much do that (in a better ship than a condor, of course) and players who have been playing for many years will get dominated by you. Their frustration is very funny to see! lol You’ll want a battleship (T2 or faction is ok, but a marauder works best). Skill injectors are a thing, you know…
You have to invest some isk into putting the right modules on your ship, but it pays off and seems like you’re able to get isk pretty good.
The secret is to put as many Officer Modules (the ones with the purple corner on the icon for it in the market) as you can on the fit. Your ship becomes kind of an awesome pwnmobile with those good mods on it.
Marauders (for you it would be the Caldari Golem) can fit these unique and so-useful modules called Bastion Modules. When you activate it, your ship can’t move, but “digs in” and becomes a fortress. Your shield booster / armor repair doubles it’s strength, you become immune to electronic warfare, and your weapons get better!
Go dominate gatecamps, etc! Enjoy their tears of impotent rage! lol
ps - Some folks are almost guaranteed to not want you to do this. Ignore them. Many just hate that a few players such as yourself have the smarts to beat them so badly using this shortcut when they have been playing so much longer!
Once you’ve gained some experience and confidence try out r/Eve
(And make sure to set a proper user flair too.)
