Is EVE Online dead?

Justifying that we should keep the legend alive in New Eden

Pot, meet Kettle.

I think the official metric for “dead” is when CCP starts selling AT ships in-game like Serenity.

Hi, Pot :slightly_smiling_face:

CCP drove out my corp a long time ago.

I tried helping new players for a while, but all that got me was a soft and fuzzy kill board.

It’s been over a yr since I gave anyone isk in the forums. From all those, I think only 2 got it and went on to do better. How many bil have you given away to new players?

I wish!

So what you are saying is that you are not in a player corp. Tried to “help” some players… And out of what, 20 (that is just a number. It might be higher or lower for all I know.) or so only 2 “got it”. If you helped some and out of a sum of players. Your success rate was not even, what, 1%?. That says more about how you teach than the students that you taught.

As for me I am a newish player. I believe I mentioned that before. Fairly certain that I did. Anyways teaching is not giving away Isk to new players. If that is your Idea of teaching. I am surprised even 2 “got it”.

So we have established you are not part of a player Corp. So when you flew in a fleet. Was it FW, incursions, or some such. Where the variety of skill levels and experience can vary widely.

Again you are claiming to be just this good and as you have implied you are not currently part of a player Corp. There are more than a few Corps that teach new players. Goonswarm Federation I understand is real good at teaching PVP and PVE. Others with varying degrees of interest and knowledge.

Just as a suggestion, why not join one? It comes down to either cut bait or fish. So far all any of us has read, by your admission, you were great back in the day. Deplore that others are not at your level of play.

So which is it? Do you go out and have an impact on the game in teaching new players? Or do you cut bait sitting here on the forums and continue to cry that you are just so good back in the day. That new players are just that bad today.

That choice is yours to make. shrugs

As an aside how did CCP drive your old corp out? That is just curiosity on my part.

I wished it was the case this morning when I got blapped in my pod :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Game didn’t feel so dead when I saw my clone’s body floating in space in none but a loincloth… I wondered what happened to my bra but maybe now I think it got ripped off in the power of the explosion.
:cry:RIP clone-00001

Most definitely wasn’t a bully pod you handed out for no fault other than your own.

Please make bounce points for the lowsec systems you travel through.

Students need to be willing to learn more than whine 1st.

All we did was WD the null blk’s. Ad nauseam, lol. Probably why some of the rules got changed. Most of my kills are against them.

Grrr Goons! Easy targets.

My 3 accts do more damage without a corp.

You got it! Shame you were not around to try EVE when it was hard. Why play a dead game?

Crap, I forgot you missed the forums like they used to be, just as brutal. The grammar/spelling/punctuation police… Some of which I thought was unfair to a non-native English speaker. I got my arse chewed out the 1st time I posted for something I wanted. Now it’s in game.

CCP changed the rules to cater to newer players, but the basic game mechanics were not designed for that. They were designed for a nitch player group that’s just fading away. Now you get an award for not even logging in?

CCP gave away the game to those who will never understand or appreciate the game for what it is supposed to be.

@Chad_Frostpacker I don’t understand what you’re trying to say.

Reading posts from the Frostpacker clan is best left to deep thinkers.

@Mr_Epeen I’m deeply sorry but I don’t understand what you mean.

So it is the students fault that you were a poor teacher. Yet here you are whining how dead the game is today.

Seeing as Goonswarm just had a major move and no one and interestingly not even you did anything to even slow it down. I am going to guess you were off baking a cake.

You have answered one question. You are here to do nothing more than whine here on the forums. Telling everyone how great you were then… SMH

Welcome to Frostpackers word salad of the day. Try some zesty Italian salad dressing when reading a Frostpacker post. It might make better sense… Or not…

I prefer Ranch dressing :yum: but I’m afraid it won’t help with his wordsalads.
I also have difficulties understanding the salads of those who have ulterior motives on the forum instead of genuinely wanting to discuss. Maybe I need a CAT scan?

Edit: Maybe I should write a word or two about Is EVE Online Dead lest this post is hidden by the community.

I vehemently refuse to believe that EVE is dying. A game that receives regular major expansions cannot be dying.

As far as i am concern Eve is not dying. In every game that i have played. There is inevitably someone that posts that x game is dying. The game has changed and changed again as the meta has made something not as good as before and emphasised something else. Players come and go. Sometimes the game overall culture is different from what was there in the initial years.

I play another small niche game that has regular expansions. And yeah almost like clockwork someone posts that the game is dying. Sometime accompany a rage quit because something happened or is going to happen that he/she/they does/did not like.

While I have been given to understand the burn and churn number of people trying this game are not great, in fact bad. Still the game is far from shutting the servers down and closing the doors. It’s a problem that I understand that is seriously being worked on.

With vanguard and the new expansion to drop next week. The game is not dying. Nor is CCP in danger of closing its doors any time soon. Will the game one day close down. Likely one day it may happen. It’s just not anytime soon at the moment.

As for people genuinely wanting to discuss. I have yet to be on a games forum where that happens with any regularity. Reddit is a better chance of having a decent conversation. And it seems the eve subreddit is a lot more focused on game mechanics, hull fits, and real humor.

As for Frostpacker and his word salad posts. Just try not to make too much sense of his posts. Your mental health will thank you later. Just pour some of your favorite ranch dressing over it and leave it at that…

@Aallin_Gicquet I completely agree with you. I play another game on steam and sometimes go on its forum and, true enough, someone always whine about something and says the game is dying. It needs to become a meme we can all laugh at.
It isn’t easy to find someone on a forum who wants to discuss other things than stats and mechanics. Maybe lore but that’s about it. I like that this forum has the Like and Get Likes thread where we can somewhat get away from the drama, and the Say Something Nice thread. I guess some people can’t or won’t connect with others on topics beyond their familiarity and the moderators don’t particularly facilitate exchange of ideas for for the most part I guess it’s fine. I don’t like to complain.
As the Frostpackers, well… That Ranch sauce is going to be exactly what I need!

It isn’t dying at all. It’s more that the gnarled old bittervets who post here but never play any more can’t bear to think that people are still playing Eve and enjoying it. The whole ‘Eve is dead’ thing is their way of trying to freeze time so that their achievement cannot be surpassed. It is really all a dog in a manger type thing. They no longer enjoy Eve…so they don’t want anyone else to. And they thus come on and poison the well.
