Is highsec ganking still a thing?

It’s merely the perceived threat of HS ganking that stops the majority of haulers from auto-piloting trillions of ISK in cargo-expanded freighters.

HS hauling is a lot more profitable for regular players just because the possibility of ganks exists.

Likewise miners and combat pilots also have to pay a minimum amount of attention in HS like they have to pay attention in the rest of the game to survive. This ‘the universe is dangerous’ is a big part of what makes EVE EVE.

I agree that null sec wars have a large direct impact on the EVE economy.

Ganking has a large indirect impact.

I think your analysis is totally wrong, as in, you think HS - ganking “slows the EVE economy?” by a percieved threat.

Lets just say it how it is - HS-ganking doesn’t create content; it deletes it

Also I dont really think HS -ganking is about creating danger - it just removes it - look at my killboard and you’ll see a lot of deaths in low sec - but the reason I quit is highsec ganking.

Like I dont mind that you are forced to go to low sec and fix some things there like planets and reactions and even mining. But sometimes I just want to relax with the few hours I have in the week to chill at the computer.

Just trying to give you an idea of another head than yours because you guys are really cemented into this “EVE = DANGER = HS GANKING = GOOD”

HS ganking is not making the game more dangerous, its just removing people from the game that would otherwise be around in the zones where you actually want the fighting to take place

What’s stopping you from chilling ? I suspect hunt all the way from Jita to Amarr and back….listening to trance music all the way. I also chill while cloaky camping gates….something I need more practice at. None of it stops me being alert for both danger and opportunities.

On the first page with hundreds of replies.

How can you people just keep on petty bickering with so much beauty around to look at.

Sounds like CCP should change all HS systems except the handful of starter/school systems to lowsec then?

I mean I totally understand the ‘i like to have a chilled game’ attitude, but that is absolutely possible. Reside in some backwater minmatar space highsec and actually nobody will care for you. Run yor missions, start your exploration tours, do your production jobs… do it all in nonblingy standard ships with quite a bit of tank and you have exactly what you want.

I’ve never had an issue and as long as you stay away from Jita, and a few jumps away from other hubs you’ll be fine.

I’ve also been here a long time now and maybe seen it once in all that time, so don’t stress about it, just find a nice quiet system you can chill out in.

Maybe one with a variety of mission agents and industry options then keep an eye on local..

Good luck.

I wonder how Glenduil and the Frostpacker will react to that.

Okat great if thats the case - I am happy to hear it - its just… the other times I played - you do get ganked quite a lot. I mean its not once a week - but its enough to the point where it really cuts into your profit and if you dont make anything - why bother

Maybe its better these days, but it defiantly made me quit EVE a couple of times for sure.

Well im more mobile than that because I dont really do missions - i just like to mine and plan builds.

But im listening, I think ill give a go one of these days. Just hope I dont get ganked again for flying normal mining ships.

I think we view it in different ways then. Its not chill for me and it feels like you dont do anything in the game if you keep getting ganked or have your frieghter bumped off gates and have to sit and wait for it to be over. Just is what it is. Not super engaging for anyone but the few people that gank.

Ill say this again HS-ganking doesn’t create content; it deletes it

Yet industry is bustling.

Deleting content improves the game. I identify bad content (for example, permabanned racists and permabotters), then I prune them out of the game. This shapes and moulds the culture of Highsec for the better, much like the banzai trees I trim while waiting on the CONCORD timer. It is only through the deletion of bad content that good content has space to flourish. The beauty of EvE Online is that the players determine what content defines our gameplay.

There’s almost no reason to ever die to Gankers.

Use a Deep Space Transport.

Make it as heavily passive tanked as you can, regardless of how slow it makes the ship.

Carry < 1 Bil isk. “most” of the time, you won’t be worth the cost of killing you.

Learn the Cloak-Align-Decloak-Warp trick so no one can lock on you. If you do it well, it negates all attacks unless you happen to decloak next to something.

All this Pretty much makes you safe. If you’re carrying 16k or less, use a Viator, or similar ship that can cloak while warping.

I didn’t get ganked ONCE in like 15 YEARS. And everyone can learn how to avoid being ganked. It’s incredibly easy. The constant repetition of the “danger of ganking” is nothing but a myth. Just learn the goddamn game, it isn’t wizardry to use the scanners and learn some basic rules of fitting and maneuvering.

I’ve safely moved my Nightmare, and my Leshak, and my Typhoon, and a totally unarmed 500m worth of Guardian, 30 or 40 systems, including right through Uedama, on multiple occasions. If you can’t be bothered scouting first…then of course you will lose them.

Well then maybe EVE isn’t the game for you, as EVE is all about destroying stuff.
