Is highsec ganking still a thing?

”Well then maybe EVE isn’t the game for you, as EVE is all about destroying stuff.”

This is such a meaningless line. Only thing you destroy is subscriber numbers and content. If you think that suicide killing people that cant do anything is a important integral part to the game, I gotta encourage you to reflect on that.

If you think they can’t do anything, you don’t know how to play EvE Online.

Why can’t they do anything?

You really need to let go your illusion that a gank is “killing someone”, with some kind of “final fate” and “moral guilt” associated. It’s a score in a game, nothing more, nothing less. You respawn. You can learn what you did wrong and avoid it the next time. Every loss can make you a better player if you decide to look after the tactics used and think about countermeasures.

I mean, if you run around in CallOfDuty™ and get shot, you lose your equipment and respawn. And have to run around grabbing new equipment to keep fighting. And nobody is complaining about it. Of course not, everyone nows that you will get shot if you start a game.
What is so different about losing a ship in EVE? Just know that some people will try to destroy your stuff… it’s a PvP game. Most frigates with a solid T1meta/T2 fit can be built for less than 10M ISK. Even newbros can replace that in almost no time with the simplest forms of PvE. Nobody forces anyone to fly around in ships that would take days, weeks or months to replace. It is your free decision if you want to do that.

Really, if you can’t accept that in EVE you might get shot if you undock, you simply don’t understand what game you have signed up for.

Instead of debating with plebs, from now on I will be generating top tier space music in response to posts I agree with: https://www.james315.space/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Undock-and-Get-Dropped.mp3

Lol. Last night I sat outside Jita in my ‘puny’ Navy Augoror….in range of 14 Catalysts from ZLegion corp. Practically everyone else, most of the regulars, had scarpered. I figured I’d take at least 3 Catalysts with me….3 more solo kills…if I was attacked. That is how you play EVE…..not cringing in a burrow like some scared prairie dog.

Success in EVE is very much a state of mind…as exemplified by those such as Aiko. If you haven’t ‘won’ ( regardless of whether your ship even comes back ) before you even undock…you never will.

Calm down

Imo, the public courier contracts’ collaterals should not be able to exceed the load’s price to avoid the scams. Also although ganking is a part of the game it is way too easy to gank a freighter / JF ( or maybe those ships are too expensive… ). Lack of balance to be brief.

Make my day.

This thread is about high sec ganking. You lost all your freighters in low sec, very different scenario.

With safe regards

Yes, I’ve done the same with no problem at all. I only have a T2 fit for my maurauder, maybe one or 2 cheap named modules here and there but nothing overly expensive. OP as long as you’re not flying around in a 12 billion isk ship you should be fine.

With hauling I just keep the haul value at around 150 million, tanked,

You should stay under the radar with this sort of playstyle, use your other 2 slots to create alts in cheap frigates that can jump into a system and check for known gankers.

Another good idea is to check zkill kills for areas that you pass regular, have a good look at the kills and add any gankers pilots or ganking corps/alliances to your red list so that they immediatly show up when you jump your scout alt into a system. Use every tool available to ensure your safety.

Good luck OP I hope you come back to the game.

It’s a good feeling to know the game isn’t it.

In 0.0 I purposely undocked a bulkhead hauler knowing full well the enemy alliance would report it in their intel channel, I proceeded up the pipe knowing in one or 2 jumps there would be an interdictor waiting for me, I managed to kill it but some of their buddies came and got me. Not a flawless victory but its good tricking people into a good fight.

Eve Online is a niche game for those who don’t believe they are wanted in other games or can’t do the things in other games.

A very strange statement as i have always seen it the other way around…

Stats for high sec ship losses proves high sec ganking really never was a thing.

CONCORD is hiding it’s own kills, which include ganking.

A Look into January Ship Destruction in EVE Online | The Ancient Gaming Noob

In 2025, ganking in High Sec EVE Online continues to be a risk, particularly for players who transport valuable cargo or fly expensive ships without proper tanking or safety precautions. Although high-sec ganking has been on the decline, it still occurs, particularly along busy trade routes and in systems like Uedama.

Ganking remains a part of the game, with some players even advocating for more ganking to counter botting or as a way to learn the game.

The thing is, the gankers have no idea whether or not the ship they are attacking is a bot. Ganking is not a way to learn the game as there is no real ship set-up involved with ganking. Fit destroyer with T2’s blob to a freighter or mining barge and then gank. Sounds more like Groundhog Warfare.

Hisec ganking isn’t as much a thing anymore as mouthbreathers camping mission gates now.

  1. Havent signed up for it

  2. Having zones for people that want to relax and enjoy other parts of the game than what you like makes sense to me, as it would likely increase content creation in the game (aka more subs, more players) with incentives to go to low or null. Right now (i assume) the game is just suiciding your ship to kill someone else - which is terrible content, at least its a fact that many people have quit due to this, and its kind of a twisted way of playing a sci fi game from a lore POV, but thats maybe besides the point here.

  3. Yea you cant do anything. The people killing you are generally good pvp’ers that couldent find any content in null or low, so they go suicide some ships for content. What is it you want to do? other than fly a t1 miner? Im not looking to become a PVP miner, thats not what I find interesting about the game

  4. Im not trying to say you should change the game neccessarily, just asking if the issue with HS ganking has been fixed, because to me it is effectively vets ruining the game for good people that dont have time to be super serious about the game, as well as new guys. But be that as it may, I dont have to play the game neccessarily - but obviously if you like a game, like I do with EVE, you’d want to change it for the better. Which is the aim here.

“Stats for high sec ship losses proves high sec ganking really never was a thing”

This is so distorted - maybe its different today - but its really not true at all from my experience and I have many friends - and people in HS corps that have issues with people leaving the game due to this

Its a niche that you can suicide your character into other players for fun?

Nice niche………………….. -.-

You have no killboard activity.

There is no evidence you play the game. There is no evidence you have friends, or that they play the game. There is no reason to think you have any valid opinion. Let us know if you can provide proof of actually playing EvE Online.
