Nah, if you know what you are doing and take the proper precautions, you can go many years without blowing up. I have some ships that are over 10 years old. They will be entering puberty soon, if they become to sassy and rebellious I might have to take them to a war zone and have them destroyed.
There are plently of places outside Highsec for pve pilots like ourselves!

This just goes to show that Eve Online does hold a valid point about playing solo.

This is why I can lean to cap stable perma run builds. I know its a dps hit. I’ve lost a fair bit of isk to net issues and max gank less tank builds.
Remnant from the olds days of desync’s where if lucky…tank still runs while you pray the sync comes back. Or pray you can alt f4 back in time.
Or…irl comes up. When I first started eve I had the little one in the house. baby cries, leave tank running…hope its enough not killing dps when pushing harder content. Sometimes I came back to pods, most times…the ship was alive.
The little one is now 14. And I still favor cap stable perma run since 14 years olds have selective vision. So you must walk away to show them. They can spot a $20 bill in pile of trash papers. But not the pile of trash papers you told them to pick up.

Two disconnects today. Neither would’ve been a deal-breaker in any L4 mission or had one of the roving ganker groups shown up, but it did give me that added piece of mind.
