Is there a way to have subfolders on this hangar? One of my alts use to have everything gathered on the same hangar but, even with the filters that we can apply, is a little bit messy to remember “these are to send to Jita”, “these to be sent to Rens”, “not sell these for now” etc
I believe that if a corp have an office at the station, might do it with the Division’ hangars, but I can’t do that for now: my personal corp can’t pay yet Jita’s and Dodixies’ offices prices lol
You can buy secure containers and set them up in the station you wish to make “folders” in.
When you get the container of your taste just right click it and assemble container, keep in mind the bigger ones have a much larger size so be sure to check their info on volume to make sure you can haul it back home!
I am fairly sure you can, would not make sense to not be able to organise a hangar , specially in a trade hub where you might have piles and piles of items to categorise.
Just be warned that once you set up a container you need a minimum of 3 weeks to pull it out.
As an added security bonus (case you don’t trust your account password and Google Verify well enough) you can even set up a password to those containers!
Actually is weird we can have quick lists on the market and can’t create folders on the hangar - until now I’ve been using ships stationed there, fitted with cargo expanders and renamed like “transfer to X”, “transfer to Y”, “covert ops” etc to workaround this issue
I find it normal. Think about it, the quick lists in the market allows you to quickly discover what you are looking for, without that it would be a hellish nightmare to find things.
The hangar is pretty much a hangar, a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge room, you need to put the “folders” yourself, which are the containers
I haven’t tested them all, but I am fairly sure any container can be assembled in the hangar, the normal ones come with the disadvantage of not having a password
if its just for personal use, the password probably doesn’t matter.
if the containers are strictly for organizing your hangar (you aren’t going to be moving the entire container anywhere, just its contents) I would recommend using the station containers.
the only advantage to the smaller containers is that they actually have more storage space than they take up. (somehow) so if your transporting large amounts of small items in say an iteron V, using them lets you cram just a little bit more cargo in.
Large standard container = no password. capacity 780m3, volume 650m3 (afaik there is practically zero reason to ever use these, no password and the worst storage capacity)
Giant secure container = can be password protected, capacity 3900m3, volume 3000m3
Enormous Freight Container = no password, capacity 250000m3, volume 250000m3 (this is what I would use if I was planning on shipping the whole container full somewhere.)
Station container = password protected, capacity 1000000m3, volume 2000000m3 (these are strictly for hanger organization as they are too large to fit in any ship while assembled. this is the smallest version of this type)
Station warehouse container = password protected, capacity 100000000m3, volume 10000000m3 (largest version of the above)
with the specialized haulers now they don’t see as much use for that purpose anymore, since the majority of small items that you might want to move in bulk have their own specialized ships that can hold far more than a generalized hauler could even with the containers. and for freighters the added hastle of using them is often more trouble than its worth since you need to break up the stacks to load, them, then either unload them all manually or repackage them and re-assemble them to get the goods out. (might not seem like a lot, but doing that 7-8 times per freighter load, just to cut a 6 run trip down to 5 its often easier just to make the extra run)
The only thing I use the “packed to the gills” method for is ice products, because for some reason we don’t have a specialized ship for those, and they don’t fit in the kryos mineral hold. ccpls caldari industrial called the “penguin” for moving ice products… or just let them count as minerals.
1 thing to note here…
If you were to be hacked, passwording a personal secure container would have no effect.
Anybody with the correct roles in a corp can do a password recovery and receive it in their mail notifications, same if you forget your personal item container password(s), just use the password recovery system and voila.
Ideally they would not exist.
Ccp needs to just let us do our own tabs in our item hangar and redesign the station services window in general.
It’s redundant to need an item I your hangar to hold other items. Pretty sure the corporate hangar can just make new tabs why can’t i for personal use that carries over to every station I go to.
One more thing on the very long list of things CCP needs to fix.
