I’m curious to know how players organize their hangars. Specifically, if you run some kind of business from an item hangar, how do you keep your items separate from items that come in and go out through contracts?
As I see it, there are a few options:
Store all your personal belongings in a separate station.
Use storage containers.
Spreadsheets.
I haven’t figured out how exactly I’d like to store my stuff and keep it separate from stuff for contracts, so if anyone has any advice, I’m all ears.
Containers. Don’t even start with these useless filter things in the inventory, you will just go mental. They are good for searching things in containers but completely useless to organize huge amounts of items in a well-performing manner.
If you want to automate your incoming and outgoing contracts separation more, you probably have to either use different stations or use corp contracts for one and personal contracts for the other kind, as you cannot tell contracts to deliver items into or take contracts out of a container in a station.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ve been using a hodgepodge of containers I somehow acquired, though they’re all various sizes. I do wish I could nest them. I’m sure that’s been suggested to and dismissed by CCP for some reason.
Where I’m at, we have stations optimized for different tasks, so one station has a market, another has reprocessing, another allows for all things BPO/BPC, and so forth.
Since I’m interested mostly in reproc, I think I’ll put a Station Warehouse Container there for my personal ore, and one for contracted ore. Then I’ll have smaller containers for the refined minerals. That way I can use the item hangar itself as my “factory floor” and keep everything I’m not working on tucked away.
