July Release - Strategic Cruisers

No i was just throwing together in 5 seconds to make example. I prefer to shield tank. I prefer resists to active. But try and get a missile fit that is effective with a decent shield tank. When you have something please post. I would like to see.

I will share my attempts after I go back on Sisi.

honestly i am really interested in finding someone who prefer the new chimera’s model. aka the ā€œrokh 2.0ā€

up until the chimera i never found anyone really complaining about ship’s new look. the eagle was great, the commorant is nice and just feel like an updated version and not like a complet revamp etc … http://imgur.com/a/IubEk
but the chimera lost its vibe/spirit. i dont know, it doesn t feel like a carrier like the old model did, but more like a very big rokh. a ā€œcapital destroyerā€
(Plus i really loved the spotlight on the front and back of the old chimera)

i can’t fly a drake yet, i am a brand new player hehe. I can fly pirate faction only, rook, falcon, Purifier, and Tengu. My skills with tengu or only L3. But the problems skilling higher will be that when you are blown up you go back down. Unless you never die you will always be fighting your way trying to make the ship useable again. But I agree with you, I have no business flying the Tengu with the rebalance. I don’t have the skill to pilot it -it’s not forgiving, like the old setup. I will discontinue down this path and stick with FW for now in frigs  I started playing in WH and nul doing exploration within days of learning about Eve. Had no one to tell me it wasn’t the right choice for a new player, just did what I found interesting. Since then, an these couple months I am learning that new players should absolutely stick to mid-large size fleet stuff in cheap T1 frigs for about the first year. Otherwise you wont get the right skills both ingame and actual ability to hold your own when PVP comes knocking -which in inevitably does. I am horrible at it, hit the panic button and freeze til im podded (lol) which is why I wanted something safe and easy to go about my business. Was pulling in a plex a day for a bit, brand spanking new to the game. Never lost a Tengu, lost everything else. I have yet to actually win a fight (other than sneaking in a target lock in an existing fight to get my stats out of the hole), and have had probably 50 now. Anyway, yeah I skill injected up instant into the the ships I thought would let me sneak up and nab other players easy. heheh all those ships got nerfed! lol (I fly nestor, worm, garmur, orthrus, Barghest, (this one got really expensive overnight and I can’t afford to fly a ship that’s 2.5B well fitted anymore, I lost one 1.37B already (before the price increase)… raven navy also. Gone to small stuff, just having buyers remorse (hehe for the tear jar) for sinking so much money into the Tengu. It hurts! lol!

What angers me is the sheer lack of information here, what happens to my currently equipped electronics subsystem? does it just die? do i keep it? if I lose it do I get refunded? How about another question what if my engineering subsystem has literally no comparable one? do i just get a random shot in the dark along with a big ā– ā– ā– ā–  you from CCP? these questions are pretty important for the sake and survival of my Tengu.

Honestly, I don’t mind the new look of the Chimera, there are interesting looking things on it, the tiny moving parts are cool too, but… what did they do to the engines?
I know it’s a weird thing to pick, but the old engines were much cooler. the current one looks like the design team realized that the ship has no engine literally 2 minutes before the deadline.

You get unallocated SP reimbursed . The electronics subsytems are converted to one of the new ones. It’s all on the launcher announcement
https://community.eveonline.com/news/news-channels/eve-online-news/important-information-one-week-to-the-strategic-cruiser-rebalance/?utm_source=launcher&utm_medium=motd

SP are irrelevant to me, and not what I asked about, I asked about the ACTUAL subsystems equipped on my ship.

specifically the info only mentions subsystems that are unequipped, I have no Idea what state my tengu will be in after their update, they havent provided information showing whether for instance my Amplification node on my Tengu will remain as is or will it become something entirely different?

My ship is currently running : Tengu Propulsion - Intercalated Nanofibers ; Tengu Offensive - Accelerated Ejection Bay ; Tengu Engineering - Capacitor Regeneration Matrix ; Tengu Defensive - Amplification Node Tengu Electronics - CPU Efficiency Gate and I wanna know how badly screwed the new changes will leave it.

Pretty much I need to know if my Tengu will be functional as it currently is or a Temporarily to permanently docked piece of scrap metal until i can afford to spend the tens of millions to buy a whole new compliment of subsystems since all it has are now useless.

The equipped subsystems will be converted too. Even if you are in space, your ship won’t fall apart, and a fifth subsystem will be placed in the cargo hold most likely. The worst thing that can happen is some modules will go offline because the fit will be invalid after the update.

Dunno, I just gave you what I knew. I would suggest going on Sisi and seeing what kind of fits you can make work for what you need. Then wait until the patch and be prepared to pickup a few susbsys if necessary.
At least you will be able to remove rigs without destroying them. Small consolation, I know

Your argument here appears to be ā€œI’m right therefore you’re wrongā€. Look up any definition of ā€œgameā€ you care to name. Eve is a game, and only one game at that. It’s a single cohesive game system with all the parts interconnected.

They do play, by any definition of ā€œplayā€ that I have ever heard. Eve is a game, CCP is a Game Company. Seriously I have no idea where you got this idea that Eve is a simulation.

I’d really rather you not just assume you’re right without providing any sort of reasonable argument to support your assertions.

If you want an academic definition this paper has some good ones: http://nicolasesposito.fr/publications_fichiers/esposito2005definition.pdf

There are also various talks from GDC and other conferences as well, but frankly I’m too lazy to go digging for more than one source right now.

I’d also appreciate if you didn’t assume that I’m just regurgitating something I read or heard without understanding it. I understand this stuff quite well and have had quite a bit of fun hashing out the philosophy of games with industry professionals, my professors, and other players at various points. Eve is a game by any definition I have ever heard. Its devs refer to it as such, and I’ve yet to meet anyone except you who has ever insisted that it’s not one.

And that is my concern about them converting to the new ones, that spreadsheet one of the focus group showed earlier is a good example of how badly screwed my ship can get I mean if the tengu spread is right rather than my Amplification node becoming the new variant it becomes an Augmented Graviton? That doesn’t make sense or help my build at all, CPU Efficiency becoming an Obfuscation manifold? what? Accelerated Ejection into a support processor? the hell? Propulsion seems fine, but than we get back to the BS with my Capacitor regeneration becoming a covert reconfiguration which makes absolutely no sense and these all serve to leave my ship as little more than space junk.

Hi, actually.

I prefer the new Chimera to the old one for more or less exactly the reason you’re poking fun at it here. I like that it resembles the same style as the Rokh, I like that it’s a bit cleaner and more ā€œspace-shippyā€ as opposed to looking like one of those Styrofoam lock together models.

I didn’t hate the old model by any means, but I actually quite prefer the new one after I’ve had some time with it.

Honestly not really a consolation since i never really change my subsystems and rigs to begin with, so I get hit with a bunch of crap and no perks.

Lol, you’re getting exactly none of that. I’ve worked in software well long enough not to give out any personal information. Especially not to demanding idiots on game forums.

Ah, the old ā€œit works on my machineā€ defense. Classic. Has seldom worked when someone’s checked in broken code in my experience though.

Try searching for things like ā€œInvisible T3s eveā€ or ā€œeve broken T3 modelā€ and you’ll get plenty of hits.

Because I feel this is a waste of dev time that would be better spent elsewhere on something with more game impact that affects more players and doesn’t revolve around someone’s personal aesthetic tastes.

SKINs aren’t actually uniformly rendered. The game picks the default SKIN for the ship until you either get close enough or some other conditions are met at which point it loads the SKIN into memory and renders it.

I understand client vs server perfectly well, but as I said I was responding to your original suggestion which was decidedly server-side.

I’m not sure why this is surprising. It’s never been a secret that this was going to be an overall nerf to T3Cs. CCP flat out said so at Fanfest, among other places.

Nerf is one thing, making a ship unusable when they could functionally convert your subsystems into their actual counterparts is a completely different story.

Edit: and honestly they should just implement a system where you get to pick what each subsystem becomes because it still makes more sense than what the focus group has showed us.

The visuals will change, the functions will mostly stay the same. Let’s see if I can predict what most likely will happen:
Tengu Offensive - Accelerated Ejection Bay -> missile system, this will be better (keeps the name)
Tengu Defensive - Amplification Node -> shield booster bonus, this will get some upgrade too (also keeps the name)
Tengu Propulsion - Intercalated Nanofibers -> agility bonus, this will become the new Chassis Optimization with velocity bonus too
Tengu Electronics - CPU Efficiency Gate -> CPU bonus, this will be removed, but you will get an Electronic Efficiency gate in your cargo hold
Tengu Engineering - Capacitor Regeneration Matrix -> capacitor recharge bonus, I think this will become the new Augmented Graviton Reactor

I’m curious if I’m correct, please let me know after the update

I am curious where you are getting your information from on what each of those will become, the only thing I have found in the thread so far regarding this was this google document posted by the focus group member earlier. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1n5pwdXY7OVUiRs5t98KuGl27yxdZbcQVJcGXnZ9Oxso/pubhtml#
