July Release - Strategic Cruisers

I don’t know if there is an option of “any” in the crafting system in this game, but for this it could work the best.
Every NPC station could sell these 1 run BPCs for 100 isk, that converts any subsystem to a new one you need. Sell them for a week then make them expire in 2 weeks maybe, after which they are removed without compensation, so you won’t get your money back.

It would be nice if this thread displayed a representation of where your character has spent most of it’s time (Nullsec,Highsec,Wormhole,Low) by percentage of total time logged.

I think that will help me understand where some of you guys are coming from, tested out the fits posted and the suggestions made. I still don’t see what viable alternative for running Wormhole sites with T3 cruisers unless you go crazy on the faction dead space gear.

I mean I’ll stop posting feedback if you guys are turning t3s into glorified Nullsec geared T2 ships. Cause personally my biggest problems has been blobs using T3s and just getting down right owned by neuts and ewar when using my T3.

What is the real purpose of the redesign so I know I’m providing the correct feedback.

BTW Guys, Please add in the suggestion for Sec Stat based Bonuses (Like Citadel Rigs) and Command/Titan Burst Immunity to the next redesign phase for 5 years from now :stuck_out_tongue: .

then it isn’t a definition. a definition is by nature somethign that DEFINE something without having to resort to subjectivity.

if one “definition” is so broad that it define everything and nothing, just because it want to avoid conflict then sorry but that definition is “false” or at the verry least inacurate

there is no such thing as “your definition” . Such thing goes against the principle of “definition” itself.

If someone write something in the most broader way so that it accomodate any interpretation: then this isn t a definition but a concept .

I’m about 99% hi-sec at this point, I’m mostly here because I really enjoy figuring out how things could work.
Also, I completely agree with the security status based bonuses: design these ships for wormholes, add hull penalty for null and double penalty for low/hi-sec. Unfortunately playing with this idea would postpone the release by about a month, though most players probably wouldn’t mind it if the result gets better.

post release tweak hopefully

Well this thread got way off the rails… >.>

The current Emergent Locus Analyzer on the Legion (mini Avatar) is beautiful! Please let it survive. However, I think that the current Legion’s Tactical Targeting Network subsystem graphic can be dropped, as it makes the legion look like a tortoise.

If you don’t believe me then feel free to do some research, cite some sources, and come back with an actual argument. Games are, in fact, an academic field of study these days so you can find published papers on them pretty easily in addition to the usual industry publications and GDC talks.

That you don’t seem to have done any of this reading before making claims about what is or isn’t a game doesn’t do anything to warm me to your argument. Which, by the way, you’ve still failed to provide any support for.

See, this is definitely taking an overly broad reading of the definition provided, as well as missing the precise use of the phrase “move freely”.

Eve is an entirely constructed rules set and it’s not attempting to simulate anything. Ergo, game not simulation.

Is that a simplistic enough reading for you or do we need more nitpicking here?

Player on player interaction is generally referred to as a “meta game” and having such a system does not in any way prevent something from being a game. Nor does it qualify it as a simulation.

Literally every MMO I’ve ever played has had some variation on those interactions.

When I hid half my brother’s money after he walked out of the room playing Monopoly when I was six that was completely outside the scope of the game. We were still playing Monopoly though and it’s still a game.

Also please drop the ad-hominem attacks, it’s not helping your argument, thanks.

This happens surprisingly often actually…

I guess if they looked at the numbers and saw how little tractors were used on these hulls (and a flying technique I was completely unaware of) then i’m ok with the change.

Gonna miss having the proteus tank everything while sitting still and pulling/salvaging sleeper wrecks on the fly.

This module works really well there.

If you sit still anyway, you could always use a MTU, even though it will not be as neat as before, I agree. The number of tractors being used just made the decision easier, as the main concern seemed to be the possibility of bonused T3 being near uncatchable while salvaging. I don’t know how true that is and even if, how much that could be an issue with seemingly low numbers of people doing that anyway.

Even if I wanted to believe you, how could I? You repeat platitudes, circle logic with the occasional mix-in of attempts to patronize, as other people have already told you. While I told you why I think that EVE is not a game, but goes far beyond that, all you care to reply with are empty words who go further and further away from the topic.

Bravo, you have neither a good understanding of game nor simulation and certainly are not qualified to speak about what EVE wants or doesn’t want. Random meaningless platitude mixed with presumptious allegation, ergo lol. If you care about my arguments, you can read them above, I won’t take more space than needed. This has already gone far out of hand.

Go on nitpicking though, you seem you enjoy it.

Just a hint though: before you bring your low level game studies which you claim to have done into the field of discussion, you might want to learn basic logic, because it will help you with more complex thoughts and analysis later. Following your platitudes and circular reasoning one might also say: “EVE is entirely full of colors, therefor it is a painting.” Duh…

That coming from you is almost funny… almost.

First off, a simulation is not “beyond” a game. That sort of ordering is ridiculous. Simulations can be games or their own thing, but they’re distinct concepts not two things sitting on the same scale.

Second, you could try and educate yourself a little more on the topic you’re attempting to speak to, then you’d better understand what I’m saying and why what you’re saying is more than a little ridiculous. And yes, I know, that’s incredibly patronizing, I just really don’t care.

You’ve done nothing to support your claims, it’s just your own empty opinion that you’ve tried to present as fact. Please go find some sources to site for this definition of yours, or go read a few game dev articles. You might learn something.

I agree completely. For one, while it is of great benefit to players like me, I enjoy the cat and mouse of bubbles, even though I have been caught in one or two… They are NOT insured death by any means. You just have to play it cool (and if you just came through, get to the gate). The nullification makes these ships still OP but in a way that just ruins the sport for everyone. It should be removed, and all the overheats don’t belong here either. They belong with the HACs. There should be NO overheat bonuses, and NO nullification option. In its place, better DPS and tank options. Based on all the covert-ee stuff this ship has I would naturally want to call it a recon, blackops or stealth vessel (you could give nullification to the rook and I would be very very happy  )

Tech 3 -cruisers have had bonuses for overheating all the way back from when they were added to the game. They weren’t as big as they are going to be after the rework, but it’s been part of the design for a long time.

You are incorrect. Just incase you didn’t believe me after telling you twice you can get a Loki over 800 dps without overheating… Here’s a screenshot of the ingame simulation showing it.

You also implied it does about half that in an earlier post without overheating.

I’m thinking a lot of people in this thread should maybe go on Sisi and look at the ships before sprouting crap about what Fozzie should do with balancing them. The sheet amount of utterly false information being thrown around is ridiculous.

It was only heat damage reduction before from the hull and one subsystem, this time we get effect bonus to defensive, remote rep and propulsion modules which is more powerful, while still having the heat damage reduction from the hull and one subsystem. It was strong before, but not this much.

By the way @CCP_Fozzie I love the steel cardinal Tengu!

As I said, they have always had a trait of being better at overheating. CCP is just emphasizing it with this rework.

Since we only can talk about visuals at this point, how about giving the T3 ships T2 and navy skins? This should be fairly easy to implement.
I think the best looking would be the Carthum (red-gold) Legion, followed by the Ishukone (black-gold) Tengu and the navy Proteus.
