Kicking Over Castles news discussion

And what happens when you can’t defend your stuff ? people stop having stuff. And the market stagnates.

When the attacker is 10 times bigger than the defender, there is no point at all in adding ships to the bill.

If you were truly serious about kicking over castles. Remove the idiotic damage cap?

Why the .5 day everywhere? If attackers can play evening EU tz, (and idk, attack friday evening) 2.5 days later means monday 2 am… or 5 am if defender chooses to add 3h.

Or, you know, just make a balanced system when you are able to. Just keep it to 0.5 and everyone is happy.

Would be nice if low power prevented any repairs.

But If you really wanted to force spending on fuel then
Low Power:

  • No Tether invulnerability.
  • No repair facilities.
  • Limit access to corporate offices to directors.
  • Penalty to TCU fuel bonus per low power structure in system.
  • Reduction in i-Hub spawn bonus per low power structure in system.
  • Penalty to Activity Defense Multiplier for a system with low power structures.

EDIT: This is for low power Structures
For the old style POS - offline you should be able to hack them on consecutive days at the same time & unanchor them

Your Wardec was dropped because you don’t understand wardecs or how to use this same strat to nullify your own wardecs, you should probably look into that…

Nothing that happens in hisec has the slightest effect on the overall economy, you hisec industrialists really need to get over yourselves…

This exactly. This change effectively means you are going to either band with the big groups, or watch all your ■■■■ burn because this game isn’t worth my goddamn time to miss out on real life. Sorry I’m not going to put off seeing friends, family, relationships purely because your mechanics essentially make it so you either don’t have a life, or don’t play the game.

its pretty clear not enough people in this thread care about addressing the real problem of CCP trying to force player behaviors instead of letting conflicts evolve on their own pace. Even MIttani lamented this recently. There’s no interest in discussion there’s just people sniffing around looking for people to belittle.

Also I didn’t see the big tough nullseccers dig in their heels and weather the storm when the blackout happened. I ran out of fingers counting on one hand how many people I personally knew who went on hiatus because of it.

I’ve seen several indy corps both ice belters and moon miners suffer from repeated wardecs. Putting control in attackers hands? Is mounting a defense somehow obscene? As it is highsec bases are stripped of many benefits afforded in low/nullsec. There’s features barred from being used, something I didn’t know about until just recently. I know there was a soft nerf to missiles during an invasion when base weapons hit trigs like a wet noodle. either that or trigs were buffed out the nose.

Keep on with the mustache twirling and gloating. I’m reminded very much of one of the people I contracted a war against. They seemed to think themselves above everyone else and once they were cut down to size they decided they needed an everything proof shield. I have my own suspicions but that’s something for CCP to address. Not a single change thats been forced out recently has had the desired effect CCP seems to be aiming for. Rorq nerfs, vexor nerfs, anomaly nerfs, event nerfs, they seem hell bent on ramming a square peg into a round hole.

There’s no player-based economy anymore there is no natural shift of supply and demand, there’s incessant micromanaging, constant tweaking, and its driving away long-term players. EVE’s always had a niche base, and a consistent one, but there’s been people I started out with that just up and dropped off the face of the planet and these are players that had been in game long before I got my start, and it’s not beacuse they got tired of the game. the game basically doesn’t want people to play anymore.

Nor should you. A longtime friend of mine lost one of the very first athanors he’d ever made because he’d been caught up IRL and didn’t get to respond in time. How is not enough stuff being destroyed these days? whats this imaginary threshold they are trying to achieve? I feel like they keep tapdancing around the real issue instead of going for the throat, but of course you can’t talk about that or else you’re just ranting.

They want more to be destroyed because of the massive proliferation of structures. The problem is, the changes they make just continue to make structures ‘big group’ only items in game. The cost of structures vs. POS isn’t even compatible. The defend-ability is a joke, they don’t even auto agress single ship attackers anymore so 2 stealth bombers can now reinforce structures.

All these changes just make banding into giant groups the only option. I agree the amount of structures in game has reached ridiculous levels, but this definitely wasn’t the answer. I would have rather seen penalties applied to timers offset of corp main activity. This is easy to monitor. Groups with solid 24/7 presence could still set timers. at their choice.

At a bare minimum, attackers shouldn’t be able to scan structures for ref timers with this change. We are essentially moving to nearly POS mechanics, but now we’re giving attackers the ability to scan a structure for the amount of ‘stront’ the structure has. Come on CCP.

Yeah, the point being that one whiny little crybaby like @Gwendolyn_Arwood leaving won’t actually make much of a difference. I doubt he’s got the connections to make enough people leave the game that there would be any noticeable impact.

If they don’t like a bunch of low power structures sitting around all over the place then have them go into catastrophic system failure after say 2-3 weeks or so, so that they have to be at minimum maintained. If someone cant maintain it or arrange for someone else to fuel it, well tough cookies. Have contingency plans for it.

As for defense why not let those old modules be useable with upwell structures? the defense batteries etc. One of the things that got me interested in eve was the Citadel trailer but the real fights are far from epic. usually just 2-3 people sitting pecking away at a base until reinforcement because station weapons hit like BBs.

CCP: “We want to have everyone utilizing player owned stations and make NPC stations obsolete.”

Also CCP: “There’s too many player owned stations, so we need to make them easier to destroy.”

Uhhhh…
I guess the whole Titans thing really didn’t teach any lessons about their players.

That’s quite a reply…ok here goes…

  1. I don’t really care what Mittani thinks. About anything.

  2. No I didn’t see that either, they cried like the carebears they are, wormholer btw.

  3. Ok this one is important, I was not attempting to ‘belittle’ high sec industrialists, the lack of benefits to having a structure in high sec vs anywhere else is the reason high sec industry has little if any impact on the economy, you simply can’t compete with those refine rates/build cost reductions etc not to mention the cooperation that goes on, people with this argument that we shouldn’t kill them because they help the economy usually have a corp that contains only their alts or a couple of other people at best…you want to play on your own then complain you get stomped by bigger groups? Everyone is a bigger group than these people coz its just ■■■■■■■ them! How else can it end? Citadels were not ment to defend themselves, the missiles always hit like a wet noodle, you’ll struggle to clear even a sabre off grid with the sub-cap ones, the cap ones are pretty good but obviously useless in highsec…get some friends then you can actually form a defence and drop your structure somewhere you can actually defend it, ie not high sec.

  4. lol you don’t want to wardec us but feel free. the nerfs you mentioned have worked out pretty well for me but I will concede that since the big nullblocs already have infinite isk it seems a bit short-sighted to nerf it now.

  5. The game wants you to play it, the problem is some people don’t want to play EVE, they came here expecting a different game and now they want to make EVE into that game and if you live under a super umbrella then you’ve probably managed it…and if you are still a high sec carebear, why? Don’t you know all the carebears moved to delve?

Can you give us some examples for the RF Timers now ?
Low Power / High Power
LS / HS / WH / NS

I think this will made it easyer to understand.

thank you

Glad that they’re looking at this – the design behind these mechanics is crap – but this is not a solution …

The defender can still set their timer to the opposite of the attackers’ peak play time, and increasing the random factor can make things worse. There will be situations where the attackers have to reinforce the shield and armour of a structure 3/4 times before getting a timer roll that they can actually make.

This doesn’t shift things in the attackers’ favour, it just makes it more RNG.

Structures are useless anyway. The only advantage the small groups ( to be read wh people ) had was the reinforcement time. Now everyone will move either to hisec in the first step or out of the game.
The plex price lost 30% ( since the POSes became useless and the structures undefendable ), indicating how the demand for gametime dropped. Mpst of the stable players ( not the ones who play 4-6 months but those who play for years ) are tired of constant ccp nerfs in advantage to some groups whining that they cant take down a 20 bil structure with five 10mil isk cruisers in less than 3 days.
Now they will be able to. And there will be no more structures in w-space. Nor corps to live there. Those corps were the perfect setup for people who have a life and cannot dedicate hours to eve each day.
Wanna bet where those pilots will go ?
Good move. ccp.

Nobody can destroy your structure if you don’t own any :smirk:
Be mobile, go light, stay hidden!

This is the regular answer, it will work, their coalition will just become an actual alliance.

And by the way, change the rules too, allow wormhole people to build super and Titans.

I fear that what you writte here can be true. I really hope not.

I have to say you are right, and the repair ship mode is interresting for cita, and easy way of services. But you can’t use them to fight really. It is more a support than anything else.
