Bump! We are at 155 pilots
Bump. We are at 156 pilots
Hi Eve players,
Today I have another chapter in our corpās annals to bore you with. But rather than a story of ship combat and death, it is a story of drama, broken friendships, and the loss of a great director.
Iāve redacted some of the name of our director to protect his privacy.
Review
It has been 11 days since our friends in Voidlings, Holy Amarrian Inquisition, and Lux Collective successfully defended our nub corp The Kingdom of Bretonia from Avantoās attack on our home system and station. This attack, I suspect, was prompted by our ex-director Lentoka who left us to join Avanto. After 4 days of attacks and gate camps on our home system, Avanto did as many of you predicted and ceased the assault to our great relief. Peace and tranquility once again returned to our great kingdom.
During this past week of peace-time, our corp managed to regain the numbers lost during the Avanto attacks, growing to a size of 155 pilots, and we even managed to establish a few cheap doctrine fits using Caracals, Crucifiers, Griffins, and drakes. I upgraded to a Nighthawk, Providence, and Bowhead, and our stealth bomber pilots were able to run our first blops fleet where we managed to bait and kill 5 venture pilots.

On top of that, our 2nd and last remaining director HuntinYou who is also our Blops FC managed to use his alt account to put down two Stations in a C3 WH with a Null-sec static with the intent to run Blops fleets weekly out of the hole. We in KXB decided to trial this C3 as a home base as an upgrade from our C2, and have spent the past few days moving to this new C3 system, and it has been a great improvement to our profits as the ore and gas has been plentiful.

Our #1 Venture pilot Turkeybop has died a significant amount less in this new system due to there being no HS static. Many of our other pilots are still in the process of moving to this new C3, but many still have already moved. That is until todayās crazy turn of events.
The Offer
A friendly corp ally who has known that we have been looking for a C4 3/5 reached out to me to offer to sell us exactly that, a C4 WH with a 3/5 static. The corp that used to live there has moved to a C5, and is looking to recoup some of their losses. The C4 system already has a station and even a couple freighters in the WH which can be used to evacuate loot should an eviction ever occur. The WH was offered at a price of 7b isk with the station and 2 freighters included. In addition to this, our ally offered to help us defend the system should an eviction ever occur.
The idea of living in a C4 3/5 is highly appealing to me becasue it allows our newer pilots to run C3 combat sites, and Gas huff and mine, while our more experienced pilots can enjoy the bounty of running C5 combat sites to get rich. It seems to me that running C5 combat sites is truly the main way of gaining wealth in wormhole space, and due to the fact that we in KXB are starting to be able to field a couple Marauders and Battleships, we might soon be in a position to take advantage of that.
I let our ally know that I am indeed interested, and that I need to run the idea past my corp and take a vote on it so that we can come to a group decision if this is what we want.
I immediately jumped into discord and made my corp aware of the sale-offer to gather their thoughts on the matter.
The Loss of our last director
Our director and Blops FC didnāt immediately seem hateful of the idea. He did mention pulling the 2nd station he had setup just a couple days earlier down. But 3 minutes later he seemed to become increasingly annoyed with the idea. Eventually saying that he will be pulling docking rights to the entire system. Keep in mind at this point, that we had not even agreed to move, but rather I was just putting the idea up for discussion.
I was really surprised to hear this sudden change of heart so I reached out to HuntinYou in PM.
After removing me as friend on Discord, shutting down the SEATS auth server, quitting the discord group, and leaving the corp, I let KXB know that we should begin evacuating the C3 to HS space. I wasnāt really sure if our now ex-director would change his mind and just cut off access to the station immediately.
I sent an in game mail to HuntinYou asking him to turn Seats back on and to re-add me as friend to discord to talk about this. Surprisingly he did, and we were able to talk a bit more.
And thatās all that was really said. Our 2nd and last corp director gone with the wind, and along with him, our C3 Blops WH, our SEATS auth access, and my buddy who Iāve known since this corp started out 3 months ago.
A little while later, our corp received a mail saying farewell. I also bid him farewell, sent him 3b isk to recoup the losses he felt he incurred, and hope maybe he will someday return to KXB.
Name of HuntinYou is redacted to protect his privacy
Iāve since put moving to the C4 to a corp vote which ends tomorrow. So far we have 13 votes in favor of moving to the C4, and 2 votes against. It seems like with the current trend, we will indeed be making the move very soon.
HuntinYou worked very hard to setup a SEATS auth server, our Discord Channel, and to configure the two to work together. Heās ran Blops fleets, offered to help defend us when we are attacked, and even joined a larger WH corp with the intent to learn how to FC and learn High Class WH ways so that he can bring that knowledge back to us noobs.
Possible Forshadowing?
I suspect that my day-earlier revamp of our corp buy-back system caused HuntinYou some frustration. Previously he was in sole charge of buybacks with all contracts going directly to him. When I had a chance to see how another friendās corp does buy-backs though by using a corp-hangar, I immediately jumped on the idea so that I could help, and I believe this may have rubbed our director the wrong way. He immediately ceased all offers to help with buy-backs. Itās almost like this was a foreshadowing of things that would happen the next day (today).
Conclusion
Even being as upset as he was, HuntinYou could have done much more damage than he did if he wanted. He could have used his director role to kick corp members, destroy the discord, and immediately remove us from having access to his station. While I do think today was a huge over-reaction on his part, Iām still thankful that he gave us time to leave his system, and did not do anything to actively harm our group.
I think that my raising the idea of moving to a C4 does not fully explain what caused HuntinYou to get so upset today. I think perhaps he was getting tired of Eve Online. Perhaps he was tired at work, and maybe even depressed-- all of which could have lead to this explosion of emotion that caused him to throw this last 3 months of relationship-building and hard work heās done for the corp away. Perhaps it was my interfering in the buy-back program. I canāt be certain.
This also was a huge twist for our corp members who were just starting to get comfortable in our C3. A member even expressed frustration about my being so quick to be ready to move again after just recently moving to this C3. I suppose I played a role in getting us kicked out of our C3, and basically making us homeless for the next couple days. Of course I think we will get through this, but I do think I might be pushing my corp a little too hard.
I do think I will hold off on appointing any new directors for at least the next few months.
A t3c with a KXB corp logo on the front
Looking ForwardIn the coming days, if our corp-vote passes, we will be moving to a new C4 with a C3/C5 static. This will come with its own set of challenges. Our new-bros will have to contend with having no access to a HS static to easily get back to K-Space. They will have to learn to Role holes, and run C3 combat sites instead of C2. Our veteran members will need to learn how to work as a group to secure the C5, and the C4, and run C5 combat sites using the biggest ships we have flown yet, and risking amounts of money on the line that is 3x the amount we have ever had to previously.
But with these risks comes the chance to succeed, get rich, upgrade and bling out our ships, and take even greater risks yeeting those ships against would-be invaders in fleet fights. We might fail, collapse our moral, and lose members, or we might succeed and take the next great step in becoming a truly formidable WH corp. OR we might find that half our members donāt even bother showing up to the new C4, and instead opt for other adventures. That story is yet to unfold. Will try to keep you guys updated though when it happens.
Thanks for reading!
