Sigh. I’m no expert in game design, but I do know that modern game development is stupid complicated, and that every game I play has bugs. I also know that as far as bugs go, Eve doesn’t hold a candle to some of the most egregious offenders. Hell, this bug doesn’t even hold a candle to other bugs that have been found in Eve -it’s a mild inconvenience that will likely be rectified shortly.
So, IDK, maybe try to have some patience and understanding when it comes things like this. Even highly skilled and hardworking people make mistakes, and I’m sure the job is made even more difficult by the fact that they’re working on a highly complex, 17 year old, sandbox MMO with over a million lines of code.
Never really looking deeper like you do, I still think you can increase your SP till the 20M alpha limit .
That is the purpose of the “alpha daily injector” .
You are an alpha so unable to skill “freely” after 5M but with a hard cap of 20M .
It happens that one of my alpha with the daily reward ( kill some rats and gain 5-10-25K 6-7 month ago) at 5M reached with the daily reward 5.5M and was even able to extract it .
So unless there is some new rules , your alpha should enjoy it as long as his skill is under 20M .
Just read the Dev updates. “The final fix for those of you who are missing this SP is still being discussed and is anticipated to come early next week.”
Huh? C’mon man, what a stinking credibility gap. I watched carefully as these skillpoints built up, anticipating using them once completed. Assigned them to a character, and then…nothing. You’re telling me no one, I mean absolutely no one, figured out how to implement this adequately?
On top of the new event that should be renamed “Conduits for Battlecruisers,” I realize that CCP is off the rails and reveal their growing inadequacy to manage the game. The recent market changes are one example of the sledgehammer approach to dealing with cheaters. Every player in the game now has to pay to solve a situation CCP isn’t creative enough to fix otherwise.
Hey, CCP, go take a break and get some lousy tattoos or something, and maybe grow up and take care of your game.
Is it possible to just send the offending item back to redeem queue for those that have it trapped in their hanger so that it applies properly with the hotfix that you have in place when they re-redeem it?
As a person from the IT development, I can’t agree. It doesn’t f-word matter how many lines of code you have, it’s about the architecture of the application and the processes you have. It’s actually quite stupid to compare the lines of code, as it’s a matter of formatting. The only usage of ‘1 mil lines of code’ line is to impress those who is no expert in game design or anything about the IT development. Someone like you.
The problem here is : lots of people sold and bought those “skill point cans” already, screw them imo, they knew it is useless, they could assume item is bugged. Best solution in my opinion, is make those sp items appear in reedemable again to all who tried to use it before hotfix, and make it usabe. If someone was stupid enough to buy it? Tuff titty. Some1 was greedy enough to sell it? Minus his/her wallet, let salt flow on the forums for a while, and perhaps then people will learn.
