While this conflict’s major theater will always be in space, limited ground operations are underway by sympathetic warclones across New Eden-- primarily in mercenary operations to secure planetary defense sites and provide training to colonial militia. Before any of us were allies of the Collective, we were citizens of New Eden from one corner of the cluster or another. If we have the greatest experience, resources, and discipline in combating this threat then we have the responsibility to take lead and provide support where we can in the name of our shared humanity.

In addition, some broadcasts are directed at the Sisters of EVE Flotilla in the Hive system. This time, someone seems to have taken the time to add a plainspoken version of the message to the original broadcast.

We speak for the assembled groups and individuals fighting for the Collective cause against the Drifters.
On short notice, we recommend to the Convocation of Triglav outside the Struggle the following:
Destroying the Drifters remains the highest priority.
Experimenting with the Drifter Hypernet Network to gain additional knowledge is a wise course of action.
We are against sharing knowledge with those that have not successfully participated in the fight against the Drifters.
We will discuss this further and reach an agreement on our next steps soon.
I refuse to see the results of the resolution held during this “Drifter Summit” as anything but illegitimate. I hadn’t heard anything about it until waking up roughly four hours after the event, and it seems obvious to me that a limited-hangout panel held behind closed doors in Jita 4-4 with minimum notice isn’t going to be a representative sample of any of the factions that were supposedly privy to this. Its no small wonder then that the resolution that passed was the minority opinion among the representative factions but outvoted by the pool of capsuleers at the Sisters of EVE summit in Jita 4-4. This in itself should be an immediate disqualifier for ever recognizing the results of this non-binding resolution.
Now onto the meat of the matter, allow me to illuminate you with some insight that I would have loved to add to the conversation if I was able to have been a part of this conversation as it was happening. Let’s be very, very clear here-- I do not see any significant difference as far as the interests of the Collective are concerned between a Joint approach versus the Open proposal provided by EDENCOM. So far as the Collective is concerned, it has been very clear that all pilots who assist in the war against Azdaja should be embraced with the Collective going so far as to offer materiel support for pilots outside of the Azdaja Redoubt for anyone working to combat the Drifters. Let’s be honest, the ability for each faction to secure a hive system was essentially a numbers game and not reflective of the capability of individual pilots-- If a pilot has proven themselves as a capable asset in the war against Azdaja but chose to align themselves with the Society of Conscious Thought or Paragon (I can’t imagine why they would) then does that alone make them unfit to aid us? Does that make them unproven? The only difference, to me, between the proposal for Joint Development and Open Development is that the Collective would be depriving themselves of these otherwise untapped assets. Even worse, and this is the important part, all of those untapped assets would be infinitely more valuable for victory in the Ancient Domains and Bujan than any amount of joint development with EDENCOM.
Lets call a spade a spade here. EDENCOM is a joint defense initiative that has pilots from every empire and maintains commercial interests with nominally independent corporate entities like Upwell. Having a joint development agreement with EDENCOM at all means that one way or the other the information will end up in the hands of “unproven” factions. So again, I fail to see a meaningful difference between Joint and Open development regardless. I suspect EDENCOM knows that. Of the capsuleers represented in this closed door limited-hangout, a disproportionate amount had EDENCOM sympathies for precisely this reason-- its one of the few factions that you can openly be a supporter of your own nation and another separate entity. This is the same EDENCOM who as recently as this month said in regards to the Collecitve “We are not, nor shall we ever be, on their side.” EDENCOM continues to see the Collective as an enemy, feigning an open palm in these talks with one hand while holding a knife behind their back. Both these factors taken together screams to me that this entire “non-binding” resolution exists to manufacture consent for further EDENCOM meddling. They are an organization working to pass a diplomatic measure that will put them in the good-graces of their coalition partners to shore up support and establish themselves as a diplomatic authority during this crisis. The same organization, mind you, that got caught conspiring against even their own constituent empires to further their own interests during the Shadow War. If not even their own allies in the Caldari State can trust them not to spy on them and undermine their efforts then anyone who claims to act in the interests of the Collective would be committing outright dereliction of duty to ever allow for the Joint Development proposal to pass. Why would we allow them to establish themselves as a diplomatic authority by legitimizing the results of this Summit, knowing their next target after this Crisis is over will be Pochven?
This should not be about preventing “unproven” combatants from benefiting from the achievements of the Collective when they might otherwise be capable assets. It should be about letting the Collective maintain control and sovereignty over occupied territory to allow them to decide for themselves who to share research and development data with, without committing to any agreement that puts us in bed with a self-professed enemy of the Collective like EDENCOM. A Closed Development strategy does not mean locking out the rest of the world, it means allowing the collective to maintain control over this information at their own discretion. If they wish to share their information solely with the Caldari State while denying this information to the Amarr, Minmatar, and EDENCOM then let them do so. If they wish to share their information with the world, but deny sending information directly to EDENCOM then let them do so. If they determine in their wisdom to keep the information solely internal, then so be it. But there is no world, none, where it would be a wise move to provide unconditional information to EDENCOM.
For these reasons, I ask that my fellow loyalists to the Collective completely reconsider their position and instead advocate for a closed development plan.
