It would be simple math. Smartbombs can’t crit, so there is at most 900 damage to tank, if all 3 SBs hit. If you have more than 900ehp, you are as safe as having 90.000 ehp. You can’t die, it’s mathematically impossible. However, you don’t even need such implantsets.
You would be mathematically safe in your expensive pod and Leopard, until someone decides to sacrifice two Mallers.
And then you don’t just lose a Leopard, but also rather expensive implants.
Hence, ballsy move.
I like the idea though.
You would see two Mallers and simply not warp into them. I mean, if you do such a thing, you have a plan, you scout your target, you don’t just pick a Leopard and warp around blindly. And again, you simply don’t use expensive implants.
If people could avoid two Mallers like that in a Leopard, they could also avoid a single Maller.
Why would people who know how to avoid Mallers bother getting more than 900 EHP in their Leopard?
I thought getting more than 900 EHP was meant to save them in the case they did not see the Mallers in time.
No, more than 900 ehp are meant as a tool to “hunt” smartbomb Mallers by tricking them into a suicide move that won’t kill you. If you just want to “fly blindly” you of course would have to use a HG-Amulet/Nirvana Set, but it could very well happen that they set you on a special list if you do and greet you with an SB-Praxis and a lot more SBs on your next run.
Thats why it only works if you chose the Maller and it only works well if it is independent from Implants, so you can switch pilots for the Leopard and they can never guess that this one will be the one they can’t kill wit their 3 SBs.
Ah, now I get what you mean, you want to intentionally fly through a single Maller and bait them so they get CONCORDED.
That may work.
How do you propose getting the EHP necessary to survive smartbombs that are meant to kill a Leopard without implants? You cannot change the fit of a shuttle, so the only invisible boost to survivability is implants or boosters.
Is it?
A command ship with 2 Command Processor Rigs can field 4 Command Burst modules. Shield Amount, Shield Resistance, Armor Amount, Armor Resistance. And the boost will stay quite some time.
I’m pretty sure the Leopard gankers have eyes on the gate or station the Leopard is warping from to get the smartbomb timing right.
I assume they would notice if the Leopard gets links upon undocking.
I guess it can work though.
Nov will be 15 years in Eve for me…
Never once have I ever witnessed, much less been victim to, smartbombing in highsec.
Novus Ordo.
The usual polyps.
How are they smart bombing in HS without being CONCORDed. That’s the real question.
It’s kinda hard to witness such kills if you’re not the victim, as I understand these things tend to happen in a safe somewhere between the gates and stations.
The trick is to not upload your losses to zkillboard.
All you need is 1% warp speed implant and gankers can never kill you mid-warp.
Ohhh, smart!
It won’t save you on a gate, but it completely counters the mid-warp smartbombs.
You only have to do that in certain areas. Everywhere else you zoom through the systems. You are still much faster than a normal shuttle or Dramiel.
I’m confused about the OP’s implication that using a Leopard outside of Highsec is somehow going to be better in any way.

Either way, if Leopard is another ship that can’t be used in HS. I am curious, what are the others? Capitals?
You could likely sneak a Marshal to a dead lv 4 mission area and have fun!
Plenty of lv 4 agents with low player populations.
I just saved a Leopard!!

@DrysonBennington @Dracvlad was this real PvP or?
Saw two Marshals yesterday passing Uedama and Sivala. Sadly, Safety nor R.E.M.N.A.N.T.S. no longer control the systems, a lone Griffin evicted them from their homes. These days you can safely rat with Marshal right in Uedama.
