Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

so that’s you … and probably half of them like you… but other half is probably l;Ike me but hey say 25% is like me lose 3 accounts do the math right?? im not referring to Chinese or Russian bots just regular players that take part of all space all activity… . i wont quit just yet over this. although it is enough for me to get into star citizen and Elite dangerous. back to my point again , wouldn’t we want more players instead or risking loosing from what we have? ) i dialed my original post meaning down into a centrist question)

EvE doesnt need risk averse players in risky areas whining that its not safe enough.
If players want safety, there is highsec.

I don’t actually think this will force smaller entities to join larger. That was more a problem when everyone could so easily defend against roams by having perfect intel for several regions worth of travel time before they got to your pocket. Now there’s room for smaller entities to live modestly yet be able to hunt and fight under cover of Blackout, as the super umbrella loses some efficiency.

There’s still a lot that needs to be dealt with, from skill injectors through super proliferation and so on, but this is a step in the right direction for letting smaller numbers be able to play by now being able to slip around the big boys and their titan spam.

can even anchor structures in someone elses sov and operate more or less undetected for months.

LOL You can look down your nose at the small people in this game as I have seen it happen in many other games

The results are very predictable. The most interesting aspect of eve for me is that buying a T2 Battleship and blinging the ■■■■ out of it does not make you safe from 20 T1 frigates run by alpha players. You had a place playing even if an alpha.

The impact of this change is not equal between those established players and new players. Not seeing this is short sighted

There’s a different between “not safe enough” and “too vulnerable” you know … stop thinking every constructive comment is salty, just because you like to troll.

yep. Even PVEs have more to do this way… harassing or stealing from precious moons that need to be constantly monitored by active dscans or attentive people on their grids etc

if you feel vulnerable i got news for you son.

go somewhere you dont.

It kinda is, often enough. Minimal attention required, unless a dread or titan spawns. Just use T1 fighters and don’t care if they die.

But then, I think they oughta be removed completely.

Capitals aren’t the issue. Dreads, for example, have been used as disposable cannons for a very long time. If anything, they’re about to become less disposable, considering the insurance changes on Sisi right now.

Operating costs would be an interesting mechanic to add, and one I’ve suggested in the past. It’d also make it more likely that we’d see mixed-scale fleets, as groups have to balance military buildup with economic investment.

It hasn’t lost any efficiency. It’s actually gone up a bit, as the hunters end up kind of meandering around looking for targets when they used to immediately know if a system was empty or not. It’s the little guys who are most at risk: they can’t see us coming, either.

Pros; they cant see you in local
Cons: you cant see them

Many in this thread only see one side of that coin; its a stupendously ridiculous way of thinking.

Anchoring a structure in someone else’s sov gives a notification.

I did not know that, is that true of pos’s and citadels?

It’s true of everything bigger’n a deployable (mobile inhib, depot, etc).

shouldn’t that tell you something?>

i stand corrected then about the anchoring of structures then :stuck_out_tongue:

Everyone should feel vulnerable but they do not do they - afk ratting

it is the level of threat -100 mil fitted BS making 8mil ticks - how much threat is needed to make this ratting a net lose isk operation?

A several billion cap with ability to cyno and drop other caps - how much threat is this change to that?

I think you might have forgotten your roots

That many people are whining about the loss of local because they are only interested in the benefits it provides to them?

How close is the nearest NPC station? Dread bombs are still a thing.
