Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

It is not an out of game tool and it does not help afk mining in the slightest. So you fail at logic again.

I just come back 2 weeks ago from a long break, saw this and figured it could be interesting. This works for my play style as a solo roamer. No longer interested in Cap battles so I am happy to see the game move in a direction I like to play. Just using my cepter to get back into it, may get my T3 going again if this works out. Hope to see some of you out there!

Not this way, and you know it.

You are going to argue that watching your client’s UI and the grid you are on, is comparable to having intel bots ping you on Slack and Discord when something moves a region’s chokepoints away?

You seem salty. Do I see someone who has always wanted to have some of the big toys but never got to it and now, because he doesn’t get to play with nice things nobody should nice things?

Neither is Local, and yes, knowing you’re taking damage helps afk ratting. Especially if you have sound turned on and hear the ‘YOUR SHIELDS ARE LOW’ warning.

You should ask Arrendis what toys I have had access to and who’s arse got kicked with them. Owning plenty of big toys doesn’t mean being blind to what the current titan and rorqual spam has done to Eve.

Like I said before. Local on itself is totally fine. If miners abuse it to get AUTOMATED warnings from neutrals 10 jumps away while they are PHYSICALLY away from the computer it is botting.

So far, we’re not seeing anything that indicates a significant uptick in activity or in numbers. They’re not doing anything they weren’t doing already, and nobody who wasn’t already doing it has started. The only difference is now, you have to have more pickets to track their movements.

I’m going to say that painting with an overly broad brush is still painting with an overly broad brush, and question why you’re really surprised that I, of all people, would nitpick about something like that.

No, Miz has at least one supercapital that I know of, and has participated in some of the biggest campaigns in EVE, including the Casino War/WWB, and the first keepstar kill (M-O) in New Eden.

Newp. It do not.

Of course we haven’t seen fark all so far. It’s been live for the average afk ratter’s attention span, and we don’t even have zkill to work with at the moment. Give it time. This is the sort of thing we’ll need weeks and weeks worth of data to conclusively say one way or the other. Players Online says sod all reliably at the moment, and can mean either worthwhile players are offline (lol, no. If this makes them log off, they added nothing of value to Eve as far as I’m personally concerned.) or what I believe: afk-ratters and bots aren’t logging in because they suddenly lost perfect safety.

This’ll take a long time before we can nail down the actual effects of Blackout. Personally, I genuinely can’t see the losses being notable, while the potential for positive change increases with this sort of thing.

Edit: I forgot I can’t say fork, or people might get upset on an Eve Online forum.

Well then he’ll surely go ahead and, as a good example, reprocess said super. Cause it helps the game and stuff, you know…

No matter what ccp does, they can’t please anyone anyway! Those who have fun with pve content in 0.0, for them the blackout is a slap in the face. I’ve probably read 2000 comments and thought about it and have to admit that the pvplers are right somewhere! I haven’t lost a hulk in 5 years. And never a rorq. Yes I am a proud carebear xD. Afk…afk people lose their ships all the time  poor fools! But we also don’t know what ccp is up to yet and what adjustments they are making available to the pveler to compensate for that! If there comes a local rig or module for the structures, we will see. The first thing I think we can do is to adapt our fully yield oriented fittings to the new conditions. Let’s make it as hard as possible for our pvpler to shoot us from space  maybe ccp has heard us and adapts the mining ships to the new conditions. In any case I’m curious how all this will develop and it’s time to take a look at the pvp content. Have fun people  o7

Miz’ll probably do it just as soon as Goonswarm does: when the enemy does it. We’ve been saying #deathtoallsupers for over ten years. They’re a cancer. They stifle the game. They need to go.

But until they do go? We can’t afford to not have absolutely as many as we can. They’re like nukes that way.

I am a single tooned player with a single account. I have been playing a couple of years. I really enjoyed the game when I first started playing. People who say Nullsec was easy before have never been camped in by Goons, Skill Yourself, Unspoken, Volta, and several others for most of the time in game. This means the majority of the game had a camping problem. Now I have watched the PVE loot get lesser and lesser in these two years. I have watched the miners get nerfed, and many of players favorite ships and modules get nerfed or changed.
I have come to the conclusion that we all make too much isk. Even me a lone toon, one account. They used the Drifters to kill structures before the blackout, to make more people stay logged on worrying about their structures. We enjoy piling our isk and filling our hangars with ships. The problem with that is that it does not get more plex bought. They have to recoup 330 million dollars. So who do you think is going to pay for this?
It is the players who pay for this. It always has been. I pay for my subscription happily. I always hated alts and multiple characters in other MMOS causing issues. I can see the main reason for them is profit. They just want to make sure they buy plex with cash. So they pull harder on the wallet. I want to keep giving them my money to play , But they need to cater to the players better somehow. I want Eve to be successful and grow. I think more content in the way of actually giving the players more, not taking it away is the real answer. You made me feel like I was really getting good stuff. You made me have friends and work in a group as psychotic and anti-social as I am.
Do not dupe the player. Build us some more alien races to shoot. Non humanoid. Add more ships and modules. Add more battlezones in space where pvp groups meet and fight to attain sweet loots in randomized systems. Help new players stay by making exciting innovative ideas to entice younger generations into being interested in Eve. Make assorted mini games in stations. Build a new market interface with talking aliens, anything cool. Add more levels of gameplay all you want. Don’t take stuff away, give it back. The feelings I had of amazement when I first started playing.

Sort of this. I mean, I’ll gladly let CCP delete everything I own that’s bigger than my testicular fortitude, as well as the skills from my characters (jesus christ, rough headcount says eleven capital and super capable characters, what the hell?) as long as they do it systematically across Eve. Of course, it also has to kill skill injectors, Rorquals and the ability to just spam it all back up again, or it’s a pointless reset that only benefits the current winners anyway.

Well the null sec space I am in lets see.
Right at downtime a WH to a group opened up then the WH residence entered our space. ( before the DT the local was working )
After DT local was in the 'delayed mode"
the WH + the WH residence is now in the systems using dcan to hunt which worked out to be about 70+ triglavian ships with sabre / ceptor ( normal day in null before the blackout )
After the blackout the game was intense an then engaging for an endless 9 hours of gameplay
BLACKOUT - DAY 2
Been boring as all hell for there is no one online on both sides of the game an nothing have with all the perpetual hours of scouts about not seen a single player an also no more WH to Kspace…
hmm
so then in the space I reside in there is nothing happening in my space directly unless a new WH opens up an then the WH residence enter our systems…
( travel up the null sec pipeline )
DSCAN = SISTERS COMBAT PROBES
hmm well DSCAN SOME MORE
see a loki
then more ships
then it turns out to be all blues an zero player PVP engagements possible ( was the same way before the blackout )
/move to the next system >
24 stealth bombers on dscan
must be landing on a stargate to the next jump
lets go chase after that fleet
Again it is all BLUE targets. > zero engagement possible ( was this way before blackout )
Move to the next system >
nothing on dscan then out of the sudden there is a caldari shuttle
I launch the interdiction sphere shuttle lands a little short i thought ahead moved to the edge of the bubble before the shuttle landed visually confirmed the target is not blue fired off an alpha strike then destroyed both shuttle an the pod
wait 30 seconds for the next system jump

jumped to the next system with a recon pilot scout corpie
corpie launches combat probes an then we both confirm there is absolutely nothing in the system an was this way for a total of 14 systems traveled

so then it is not always static there will be content with a black out anymore than there is content with local as it was before the blackout
**The core differences is this **
**IN null PLAYERS WANT TO HAVE A GOOD FIGHT AN THE LARGER THE FIGHT THE BETTER> HOT DROP CAPS HELL YEAH WE WILL DROP CAPS BACK!! **
**With the pre-blackout it works in all purposes for all player in null. **
**Risk adverse not really in null … **
**We just make more … **
what happens now with the blackout?
**wasting hours an hours to hope to locate even with combat probes for a null sec player is more experienced to know what is happening when the DSCAN shows the combat probes out. **
**NULL SEC BLACK OUT creates a massive waste of time in eve online therefore what I have witnessed so far only on one area of one of the largest null blocs in eve online is there is not really a lot more content being generated with the blackout outside of the WH that had opened up before the blackout due date 10 minutes before downtime which was connected to Thera… **
The larger players in eve in null are active hunting being alert yet there are so many damned blues in null before this blackout that so far all the dscan have accomplished it locating more an more BLUE pilots in the blackout space…
**What is the point of the blackout to create… **
**So far nothing of value… **
–
yes there is content however this is the same content which always exited without the null sec black out therefore why force onto players the game mechanic of a broken design…

  1. As far as I know, CCP says otherwise. But you surely know better than CCP.
  2. Remove it for all I care, it does nothing, my warnings come from either a system name I can recognize in intel chat, or teamspeak.

Like I said, near2 makes it easier to track spotting history, but that’s about it. As for warning, it usually pops up when I already saw the message in intel channel.

Actually I even have a cool suggestion for you: make eve client delay writing to chat logs for, say, 5 minutes? Would solve your “issue” with near2 killing you, won’t impact me one bit. Won’t impact bots either though.

Ok, see, using markup so you can scream in even bigger capital letters? That’s another thing that should get wiped out by #deathtoallsupercapitals.

Three dead Nyxes as a result of no local, thanks to seeding of Sabres and such before DT.
Christ, those fits. I’m going to be sick. But that aside, even if only these three died as a result of Blackout, that’s a clear and upbeat benefit from Blackout, so far.

It’ll be really interesting to see what zkill has to say when it goes back up.

Edit: I’m getting a fairly steady stream of kills mentioned to me on Discord, from a few folk I used to fly with. Blackout is generating content for people, it seems. Excellent.

Everyday story, seeded sabres were catching Nyxes before.

It’s sad ganktards needed complete safety to do the same thing they could do with local all the same.
