This over and over… The only reason people are happy about this content is it shifted the lazy afk ratting/botting to lazy afk pvp. Sit in a well known system cloaked, and wait, no real pvp, no real skill, just easy slow kills… That’s honestly all the blackout has accomplished is shifting the lazy aspect of the game from one group to the other, and those lazy gankers are reveling in it despite all the hypocrisy of complaining the game was too easy for one segment of it’s population…
Well that’s a way to do it ofc but seeing more than 3000 players converging in a staging system is even more impressive. When you see that number on local chat, you automatically know that you’re part of something much bigger than your personal perception. 3000 people, each doing their own thing for a common purpose… Or when you hop into a system and seeing hundreds of enemies in local, you know that something very big will happen.
And it’s not easy to move around cloaked to get easy kills? lol. That’s literally one of the reasons this blackout makes NULL less safe than WH’s, you can move around as often or freely as you like, in WH’s door shuts arbitrarily and if you move too much stuff through it. And no amount of intel will save you from a dude that logged off hours before DT or hours/days ago, pops back on immediatly cloaks, and then just sits in system for hours waiting for someone to go rat/do sites/ect. It should not be easier to kill someone than it is to farm, why? Because you already have the advantage with the fact the ship is fit for pve not pvp, you should have to work for it, if everyone is getting easy kills then the kills don’t matter anymore. It’s all about finding balance, and the game isn’t balanced when you shift the lazy aspect to people doing the killing instead of the farming… There’s still afk/laziness either way you slice it (risk averse, easy kills, picking your targets with them having no way to know you’re there or defend themselves)
While I generally agree with your post, I feel the need to point out that ganktarding:
a) is not pvp - free kills on something that doesn’t shoot back is lower than ratting.
b) generates no content - ganktards only jump when they can avoid any pvp, thus generating 0 content.
when I see large numbers in local I just keep passing through till I get caught in one of those dammnable bubbles someone launched in front of gate when they see someone enter local…
I mean killing pve ships in general is actively avoiding pvp. Just as one example, if they’re fit to do angel’s sights you already know there is a very high liklihood they are A. shield tanked, and B. have no EM resistance, so easy kill. If they’re doing exploration, you know your chances are even better, because their mid slots are probably all scanning/hacking modules, so unlikely they’ll have a scram, and all you have to do is scan down a relic site, sit there afk and wait for something to decloak near you, again another easy kill. As I said this whole blackout has just shifted afk/lazy gameplay to the people who complained the most about it, and ironically they are happy about it b/c of the sole fact they are benefiting from it…
“Gatekeeping” is the (generally delusional) belief that one possesses the authority to dictate who does or does not belong to a certain community or identity.
It almost always takes the form of, “It’s not REAL (thing) unless (some actually irrelevant criteria the speaker dictates)” or "You haven’t really (participated in a thing) until (again, some arbitrary criteria are met).
e.g., “You’re not a REAL eve player until you’ve been ganked on the jita undock with a hold full of PLEX” or, “It’s only REAL PvP if it’s an honorable duel between identically fit ships piloted by players with perfectly even skills!”
But in all honesty if you want to make null more dangerous remove player owned station and npc station I mean no safe space to dock up to would be even better. Also if we want more meat for pvp remove every pve elements I mean common no pve mean if you want play eve you got to pvp.
If you really want to add content, make it so that cloaks have a timer, the irony is that without local the whole “cloaky camper obfuscating a system by just sitting in it cloaked” has always been an issue, now instead of dealing with that form of pvp they simply upped the anty, by now not only allowing that to happen, but now you have no idea he’s there at all. If you can sit in a system and make money by doing nothing by mining or ratting and that’s a problem, you shouldn’t be able to sit in a system cloaked and do nothing and make money (selling SP, looting modules off easy kills, ect)
