Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

Not sure who keeps hiding him, it’s cause me more work to unhide it. Not sure why I’m unhiding it of course… am I a masochist?

If they have any sense they’ll print this thread out and use it to salt the parking lot next winter, that’s about all it’s good for.

Naah … the “people can’t handle the truth”

You fool, if they do that, NOTHING will ever grow in Iceland again!

Not really sure where you come up with this stuff.

Everyone who has ever ganked me has been a decent enough sort, when spoken to. Definitely nobody I would describe as “not a person”, just some guy or gal who happened to get the best of me in a video game at that particular moment.

Likewise, for the most part, everyone I’ve ever ganked is just another person playing the game to me. Sometimes we even end up being friends, despite the fact that I blew their stuff up.

GFs in local are the norm. Unhinged ranting is a lot less common.

I would not do that because then the cars would just slip in to the Atlantic Ocean. Well there is lot of salt in that ocean.

There could even be a story even for this. Drifters siege all the capital systems concord called in to respond and defend with regional defense fleets. So the only systems with concord would be the capital systems. It would be glorious, Mission hubs would be blood baths. Sign me up.

Considering the character who delivered that line was the head of a criminal conspiracy to cover up unlawful orders that resulted in someone’s death… maybe quoting it isn’t the best way to indicate you think the people decrying the test are honest actors arguing in good faith.

I really think some people on this thread should watch this to understand that if you think this change is exciting you probably are in the elite player category.

If you have been whining about not having a safe playground, not being able to grind ISK with immunity and loosing your hand holding nanny

  • Then CCP has identified you as NOT being core to the survival of EvE.

If you don’t believe me then watch and have Hilmar explain it to you.

Are you saying Jack Nicholson is not a good actor? Great movie anyway …

Edit: Do you trust CCP?

Do you really trust what Hilmar is saying? That is just some “marketing” bull there …

I suppose you might see it that way, if you’re walking around with a permanent chip on your shoulder and an irrepressible inferiority complex.

For the record i am a filthy casual. Most of my isk comes from day trading in market hubs fighting against market bots. I pvp in one nullsec corp and run a small nullsec indy corp because it is how I relax. But honestly miss local. My pvp has slowed to nothing by cyno’s and the occasional gate catch. I miss the diving into a system with 10-15 shotgunning anom’s which we still do, but without local it feels like we are wasting time. since no one is out ratting in anything smaller than a carrier. With umbrella’s it’s blah & no fun. Generally by the time we get our prey locked down and dps them down, they cyno in allies. and we get the feeling of wasted time. we will adapt and move on. But most of us are bitter vets and teaching an old dog new tricks gets harder every year.

I like now everyone is like ohh people are still playing the game… see look at the numbers… …yes look at the numbers and how little is happening in null vs whats normal…
Did I log out in protest? No I didn’t. I just came back to high to make isk semi afk and super easy with almost no risk at all.

Log in numbers might be the same or a little less but null numbers have changed… people need to look at the full picture. Not just one stat that they like the look of.

I didn’t say anything about the quality of Nicholson’s acting. Jack Nicholson plays Jack Nicholson incredibly well. He’s like Nick Cage that way. If the character you have isn’t Jack Nicholson, don’t cast Jack Nicholson for it.

About as much as I trust any company. This isn’t about trust. This is about data. And if you’re collecting data, there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it. CCP’s not doing this perfectly, but they’re doing it a lot better than they have in the past. If players want CCP to be able to fix things, then we need to be patient with them as they go through the long process of getting their heads out of their butts. Most of their initial attempts will be epic fails. But they’ll be necessary failures. They’ll be Edison’s 10,000 ways not to make a light bulb.

I live in nullsec. I live in the nullsec region that has most successfully adopted AEGIS sov’s requirement of ‘live in your space and keep your population density as high as possible’. Is there less going on? Yes. Is that necessarily a bad thing? No. It’s still way too soon to say how this shakes out. Groups are only beginning to adapt.

True, but I take the GF after being ganked by “ganktard” anyday rather than go through 500+ messages from forumtard - someone who could say what he has to say in one good message and not to keep on spamming same agenda again again again and again…Did I said again?

Personally I’m looking forward what will follow the blackout.

CCP defines EVE as a PVP game, then 95% of the activities that the game offer are clearly PVE or just plain afk orientated activities and when that 5% of actual PVP comes to the equations CCP goes a long way to punish you from even thinking you can PVP in EVE.

I don’t think players care what the company has to say about the game. Unlikely other games I have extremely rarely seen people link statements from the company.

Bottom line if you come to EVE to PVP get ready to be severely disappointed because you ain’t gonna see much of PVP. Especially taking into consideration the game starts you from high sec and NPC corporation.

If you are a PVP player you are not core to the survival of EvE , since clearly the people who pay hard cash are mainly miners and ratters, actual PVP players in EVE are to be found with a telescope or microscope.

Calling EVE a PVP to someone coming from Dota, LOL, CS, Overwatch or even in front of a kid playing Fortnite will result in a burst of hysterical laughter once those people realize what EVE so called “PVP players” regard as actual PVP.

The only reason why the PVP nonsense flies unnoticed is because CCP has went to great lengths to feed the media with the illusion that EVE is nothing more than a collection of massive battles in a brutal unforgiving universe. The vast majority of outsiders believe the nonesense because media talks about it so it must be true and because they dont dare question it when they have hard time stomaching the brutal experience they have in the actual PVP games they play.

Not only EVE is not a PVP game

its not remotely close even by a light year to being a PVP game.

But nonetheless as a PVE game, EVE is very good.

Good to see you’re still playing  This is what HS is intended for, the difference is the payout for the lowered risk is appropriate though.
