Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

I have never played the game AFK. The trouble is people like you make assumptions about all of us in NS based on the actions of a minority who, quite frankly, cheat. And no risk involved? I take it you’ve never been in nullsec and seen a group of Tuskers or Lazerhawks pop out of a WH and start hunting you? Or Goons, Tri, PanFam and a multitude of others who set up gangs to roam other people’s space. Or Bombers Bar who hunt the whole of NS looking for kills. I want to fight people not NPCs.

Mind telling me who your “people fighting character” is so I can search it up on zkillboard?

I’ve been in nearly all the large blobs, I’ve died to bombers bar, I flown with bombers bar… and the people AFKing are not a minority, don’t kid yourself. Mining/Ratting are huge in the big alliances, to say otherwise is stupid. Majority people in the big blocs don’t even need to watch intel channels with programs like near2 which are actively encouraged. Just wait for the ping to let you know enemies are a few jumps out. It’s lazy, pathetic “gameplay”. Nullsec is supposed to be this dangerous, lawless place but in reality its much safer than hisec.

Drifters need changing no doubt about that but removing local is a great decision, only hope it’s going to be permanent.

looks like game is going right direction once again… I am actually considering subbing even more accounts now

Actually, now I come to think about it.

Lets look at the difference between proposed nullsec and a WH.
Call the hole JX8008X for arguments sake
We’ll give it a static Lowsec exit and a static C5 exit.

WH:

Pros: Valuable Loot
Always an exit to lowsec of another WH system
Live in a deployable structure similar to the rest of new eden
Valuable PP planets

Cons: No idea where each WH exit is everyday
Can have structures destroyed by other hostile corps
No local (see below)
Broken ‘v’ key

Nullsec:

Pros: Valuable(ish) Loot (not as much as above but depends on amount of time your willing to invest)
Always have an exit to surrounding systems
Live in a deployable structure similar to the rest of new eden
Valuable(ish) PP depending on the planet and amount of others using it.

Cons: Active hostile roams
Can have structures destroyed by other hostile corps
No local (see below)
Broken ‘v’ key
NPC’s also attempting to destroy structures

(did I miss anything)?

I think it will be an interesting experiment. I can’t say that it will be good for the game until more data is in, but at least it will be interesting.

On the surface though this looks like, from a planning point of view, a process of:

“CCP Guy 1: Hey, we need to shake up the game. What can we do to shake things up?”

“CCP Guy 2: Well, we can delay local in null. It’s easy to do, effectively requires breaking something that already works - so we know we’re good at that! - and it’s something players have been asking for for years, so if it bombs we can blame it on the players!”

“CCP Guy 1: Win win! Let’s go!”

There is a qualitative difference from a game design perspective between asking “What can we do to shake up the game a little?” and asking “Given the overall design of the game, what should we do to make it a better game?”.

This change looks a lot more like the former, but could possibly turn out to be part of the latter.

About time, thank you CCP. If this is permanent, you are forgived for all your fails and faults.

Curse isn’t invisible on d-scan, if I recall correctly

It is

I’ll get that out of the way first and foremost. My f*ckin cheeks are a goddamn river right now flowing with null bear tears. Because the salt load in my 1 ton wont fit under the tarp. Now.

TLDR:

If i wanted to live in a wormhole I would. Thanks. You’re going to injure the player base in 0.0.

Here’s “My prediction” Of what the population will be like.

And hell yeah i drew it in paint!

Player pop with no local in 0.0

For alot of players, seriously guys, 0.0 is a way of life for us. It’s what thousands of players love to do and enjoy doing. The “0.0 Population with no local” is based on the amount of time at 1 week. The effects would scale i would imagine but it will have a semi permanent effect on players not coming back to the game. This is a serious concern of mine folks. Yeah i like to sht post and whine but fck me this scares me.

Not because “it’s dangerous” but people don’t like it and they will stop playing or move to highsec. And the longer that period is the more

Some of you know im an FC in providence. More specifically a defense FC I run daily defense fleets to fight gangs, fleets, small gangs etc and I rely heavily on my intel channel to know when a threat has entered the region. Then a scout will go to them and track them.

So I wont be able to know if a threat enters the region and provide content for the boys. So i’ll sit in my staging system with a cloaked bomber on each gate and wait I guess. Ill give it one day and if ccp is done ruining the game for us what with the drifters attacking every structure in the region and losing our pvp content drastically. After that i’ll probably be setting the game down for a while.

Now. “I think” I know what ccp is trying to do. They want to see what kind of economic strain this will put on the system. I’m no economist but price and demand have a correlation with one another higher demand low supply = high price. So I think T2 components are gonna rise with the reliance on highsec care bears and the sneaky wormhollers to provide because If I had to bet at least half of the exports from 0.0 will come to a screeching halt.

CCP In “Reparations for your sick torture on a targeted demographic of players” I demand a 1 Day Highsec PURGE DAY. Where we can have no rules. No Police. No repercussions for decimating the high sec populations.

I stand corrected, thank you

Noone cares about all those nullsec botters and crabsters anyway, lol.

An ‘FC’ doesnt know how to use eyes and scouts? Cool, gotta try some runs into Providence, if they have such ■■■■ defensive FC, that cand do ■■■■ without that cancer local, lol.

Ty ccp
Null sec became lazy: too much income for hardly any risk (in well-controled space)
Much more work needed now on intel.
