Since today there’s a new login background that, to me at least, is quite obnoxious. Someone in Rookie called it a flash bang and that’s pretty much spot on. The theme is obvious given the upcoming event but does it really have to look like it does?

I could care less about what is shown on the image, but the color choice is hurting my eyes everytime I logout/login. And even now when typing this answer.
Is there some way to override this by an image of choice? The previous background was cool.

I fear it depicts what will happen during the event time starting from 9. Dec. until 12. Jan.
So if you can’t handle it for a split second during login already, i don’t know how you will handle the actual event content?

Eh, the event is no where near that bright, it’s still mostly black. I would like CCP to add more darker blues to the login (won’t say no to them adding more blue to the weather effect as well).
And that’s the reason for this post 
Perhaps some dev reads this and goes “you know what, this is silly”.
A rare occurrence: I agree completely with Aisha. If I wanted to get snow-blindness, I’d go to a place where actual snow is falling. There is a reason why websites all kinds of apps offer dark mode. It’s not good for the eyes.
ingame I can use CTRL+SHIFT+F9, over the years and graphic and camera updates it became essential to use when multiboxing or playing from laptop.

Darkmode being better for the eyes has been debunked years ago.

This article makes points in both directions, though still more in favor of darker screens than bright screens. That’s not nearly as “debunked” as you want to believe.
I really like the blue and I feel that it is one of the best logon backgrounds yet.
I have to close my eyes every time I switch a character now. And my EVE is on low brightness. I can’t imagine what it looks on max brightness.
Why shouldn’t we complain on something that is really bad? And this game has so many bads…
It is peoples like you, who tolerate everything and won’t complain, why this game is so shitty. Why else would bugs not be fixed for decades, like ships not jumping through gate or not docking when you gave that order etc.
Come on, don’t be a doormat guys. This is paid service, and expensive one, not some fan made server developed by one guy who does it in free time.

Come on, it’s not that bad!
The Catalyst character-screen background is honestly gorgeous — clean, sharp, and perfectly lit, like CCP really took the time to make something calm and stunning to look at. The smooth gradients fading into space, the subtle dust and light, everything feels polished and intentional. It’s simple, but beautiful enough that just loading into the character screen feels satisfying.
It’s great. It’s bright and colorful. A bit of fresh air in the design philosophy. I like it.
