We are a tiny group of newer players. I want to ask if there is a way to hire a pilot or a small group to help teach a player (character) a lesson.
We were not ganked; at least in that case, we could try to defend ourselves or try to run away. Instead, we are getting “just” bumped away from the ice mining field. I know that this is a legit way of playing. But it might also be legit to hire help to shoot that character out of his ship as a response. If this is the wrong forum or outside the game rules, please comment on that, and I will delete the post immediately.
In case it is the right place,
Please get in touch with me, and we can determine if such a contract makes sense for us.
However, before you spend money you should try this.
To counter bumping, the first requirement is you pay attention to the game. If you already pay attention to the game, Make sure you can see what types of ships are on grid with you, how fast they’re going, and their transversal speed. That last one is crucial. If it’s not a mining ship or mining booster, you need to watch it closely. If it starts moving and its transversal speed is zero, it’s coming straight at you and you need to start moving. Your best options to counter a bump in progress vary.
If they’re not in a battleship, the best option is to approach the bumper and turn on a prop mod. Approaching them forces the bump to counter your forward momentum before sending you away, which takes a massive chunk of the energy they’ve built up. Turning on a prop mod, even an afterburner, increases your ship’s mass and also increases the forward momentum they have to counter before they start propelling you away. The end result is you’re moving much slower back towards where you’re working, with the approach command actively trying to 180 the applied momentum.
If they’re in a battleship, just start moving at 90 degrees from the direction it’s approaching from and turn on that prop mod. A battleship moving that fast doesn’t turn easy, and you can just move out of the way. Orbiting the asteroid with the prop mod on when there’s a battleship on grid is a great way to keep it from bumping you.
It’s a Machariel with a cloak. I try to find someone to solve that problem. We were 5 players; now 2 (a couple) quit. I would just like to see if it’s possible to enact some explosive answer or see if all the services are more role-play based than a real in-game service.
He’s not worth the isk it would take to hire someone to shoot him. Unless you can get a scan of his fit and find he’s running full bling, no ganker is going to touch him and mercs are pricy for a highsec miner’s income.
The solution is to always be moving. Orbit your rock and as soon as you see it decloak, change your orbit so it’s aim will be off.
If you’re orbiting, they have to aim for where your current orbit is going to let them hit you, and if you change that then even a Mach will struggle to adjust in time.
You seem to know who this is, so set their standings to -10, and make sure that terrible standings flash red in your overvew settings. That way, the instant they decloak on grid, you’ll have a flashy red warning on your overview so you can react.
Ultimately, you’ll want to consider moving to another system. From the little information I have, it looks to me like someone is taking offense to your mining in “their” system, but since you’re in an NPC corp they don’t have many options to force you to move. Take some time and explore your surrounding systems, you probably don’t have to move far, and at this point you don’t have a lot to move anyway.
I have the scans, the times, and the usual locations. Some people have already stopped playing Eve and moved on. I probably won’t continue omega plexing and drop back to alpha. I use the money for hiring, and after it is done, maybe I’ll come back in a few months after playing some other games. If there are any serious interests, they can contact me. I will later release the list of contractors who just scammed or noped out of the contract and the ones who actually did the job.
As I mentioned, I am willing to hire a mercenary to take care of that ship to make that person think twice in the future (or not, who knows).
There are just many good games out there I would like to play them too, and I don’t have infinite time to play in a week (as probably most people). After I fall back to alpha, I will take a break and enjoy some of those games.
So far as I can say, there was only one group that declined the contract because of the time zone and another person who probably scammed.
Maybe such a list can prove helpful for other players who would like to know whom to contact that can actually do such work.
Good luck with that. Your target is pretty much uninteractable. Because this is happening in highsec I presume (if it was low he just kills you).
He is cloaked and if not he is moving with rapid speed. That makes hitting him with good shots extremely hard especially when all ships that could be used to gank him are short range. He also has a MWD+cloak so he can’t be easily caught on a gate when leaving the system perhaps.
And mainly since he is using a battleship, then despite it has likely very little to no tank, he has too many hitpoints to be killed easily. It will require multiple players to take him down. And unless he can be wardecced (why would he be? But if he is then why crying on forum when you can wardec him yourself? Wardec him then!) it needs to be gank. Which further reduces the potential takers to pretty much zero because those who don’t mind go criminal in highsec have their own lucrative content so why would they spend hours trying to catch low-cost fit Machaeriel? Even if you pay 1b that is too little for the amount of effort and manpower needed to successfully gank this guy. And aside of gankers there are very very few players willing to go criminal in highsec and even if there are a few they won’t have the required manpower (and strategy) to kill him.
Have you tried talking to him? Why is he doing this? Who he “belogs to”. I bet it is someone who you or your members somehow triggered by insulting or in pvp. Or he is your competitor or he is after your moon. Or he wants you to pay him protection rackets to live in that system.
Negotiating with him is your best option. I would say your only option.
Eitherway mining isn’t even playing the game. So maybe you should really find something else which you would actually play. Or consider doing security missions, exploration, courier contrac hauling. All that actually requires player input and is “playing the game”, yet everyone just wants to mine and falsely claims he does that because it is fun. It isn’t. It is just very lucrative, moon mining especially.
