Lost ship due to internet outage

i lost a golem due to an outage of my internet and when i requested it back i was told no and if i attempted to elivate my account would receive somesort of punishment this person was called thane …very unprofessional way to answer emails

Unfortunately Internet outages aren’t grounds for reimbursement.

CCP isn’t responsible for your internet connection. If they let one person slide with that excuse, then everyone and their dog would want their 4 billion ISK ships refunded when they lose them due to “internet outage”…

Well they did reimburse someones golem when they probably didnt need to

And they paid for it with OP’s golem.

Having a stable internet connection is a you problem.

“Oh no I cannot handle this dreadnought spawn in my Paladin”
quickly pulls the router
“Oh no I lost my Paladin due to internet outage! Reimburse please CCP”

There is a good reason internet outage is not a valid reason to always reimburse, people would abuse it for all sorts of reasons. At least server outages CCP can verify and reimburse for. They still might reimburse you in other situations if you’re lucky, but in this case they didn’t.

Too bad, get more stable internet or don’t fly ships you cannot afford to lose while internet is unstable!

OP complains about the language in the rejection, while you guys are harping on about their internet…

I got that message too once and thought it was shitty, but now it seems a lot milder than I remembered

I should start responding to my children’s requests for money with this

Saying no is not unprofessional nor does it warrant a punishment.

Not to make lite of your situation… (I’m guessing this is a joke?)
But imagine all the pilots that lost a ship due to lag the second a blob of ships warp in on a big fight. If they started to reimburse people for connections issues… oh my.

really,?!? Because he owns the company that provides the internet service OR maybe he knows how to control the weather!

This has got to be one of the stupidest things I have read recently not just here on the forums but in general.

It’s one thing due to lag, its entirely different one due to outage. This can be easily differentiate both by the game and through a server talk, it just has to be done. Then the game at any point would know if it is a lag or a connection issue that has nothing to do with the player and its outside of their control

They do already differentiate that. Alas, “not on your side” and “their fault” is not the same. I got a vargur reinbursed once when the connection isssue was their fault. (Clients were session dropped and servers not accepting sessions). Thing with connectivity issues is, unless the whole server disconnected with you, you can be pretty sure its not their fault (doesnt mean its yours), save your ticket filing time for something else and move an.

As Spyke said, just because something is outside of control of the player doesn’t mean it’s CCP’s fault.

There are three elements here:

  1. The server
  2. Everything in between
  3. The client

CCP generally reimburses for ship deaths that happen according to 1. They can verify server problems at that time and know it’s their fault when it happens.

CCP cannot verify 2 or 3. Even if something outside of control of the player (“but my PC has no issues!”) that doesn’t mean it’s a fault of the server. Not even if your discord is still functioning but EVE disconnected does that mean the server is down, it could still be point 2.

If CCP were to reimburse structurally for anything but 1, people would exploit the reimbursements by pulling their router any time they find themselves in a bad situation. “Oh no my internet broke down please reimburse!”.

It’s a ship in a game!!! HELLO!

Recovering it is basically a simple database transaction that adds the lost ship with its mods and items in the cargo hold, to the list of ships of the station where it was initially docked before the outage occurred, that COSTs ZERO MONEY and almost no effort from CCP, on the other hand by loosing that ship the player lost many hours of play time even days required to earn the game currency needed to buy it.

CCP can’t verify the client but can verify what happened up to the client, and if any of the servers along the way was shut down due to outage, then it’s not the clients fault. But if all servers were operational but player claims it was one of them, how can this be used exploited? I certainly won’t buy into that.

Restoring lost ships costs more than ‘zero money’.

Restoring lost ships costs:

  • opportunity cost. Someone who lost a ship but gets it restored won’t participate in the economy to buy another with PLEX or ISK.
  • credibility of the game. What good is a dangerous ruthless game where actions have consequences if you can apparently ticket those dangers and consequences away?
  • man hours of support. If ship reimbursement becomes a standard instead of an exception, everyone will starts petitioning for ship reimbursements, drowning support with tickets.

If you ask me ship reimbursement shouldn’t be a thing for anything but server outages.
