Making an Engineer

Hello , decided to make a passive indy alt , but need advise in case something is not worth doing.

When I think of ‘Engineer’, I think of Research and Development… Like doing Invention to make T2 BPC’s…

Course Planetary Industry basically does the same thing, takes raw materials and turns them into basic or advanced materials to manufacture various items…

Unfortunately I don’t really have an answer for your question since I mostly do Exploration… However I will wish you good luck and much success with it…

ye heard that there might be too many indy chars and maybe not resources so i do not wona compete in glass ceiling , so maybe just stick to resources />

Never thought of it as an ‘engineering issue’.

From resource gathering to actual selling has a series of processes, finding the particular task you enjoy and working with others to benefit from economy of scale.

Or being the manager of this process.

still looking for ideas

It really depends on what activities you enjoy, and at what point in the production chain you want to get involved.

All industry activities will require some level of active involvement, even if it’s setting up BP copy orders and then selling them.

All my characters have PI 5 because it is passive income, but that still requires transportation (I do it in a WH for extra productivity, but extra risk) and either making something with it or selling it.

I have a PVE character that collects salvage from NPCs, another that does similar with data and relic exploration in W-space, and another that mines.

They all hand materials over to my PC that does R&D and manufacturing, who hands over products to my sales PC.

I could just focus solely on market trading to make a ton of ISK and ignore all those activities, but I enjoy doing them (and can still trade while doing so).

Likewise, I could trade for all the materials instead of sourcing them directly, but for me that defeats the purpose of playing a game.

You need to decide what you enjoy doing in the game, and where you will be active in the industry process/es.

Good luck o7

Hardcore industrialists and traders aren’t going to tell you what to manufacture and/or trade in. It’ll amount to giving away your own trade secrets. You have to do your own research.
