Mass Test on Singularity Thursday 23rd of October, 17:00 to 19:00 UTC. (Mining UX, Phased Fields and More!)

Greetings, test server enjoyers!

We are planning a masstest on Singularity on 23 October, from 1700 to 19:00 UTC

What exactly is being tested?

We want to have a dedicated performance test for a brand new site we’re adding for the winter expansion which is using unique graphics as well as the new mining UX. We are also interested in feedback about the gameplay of the site, as well as feedback on changes we’re making to Mining UX and mining gameplay, and other mining related features which are being introduced into the expansion.

More information about what is available to be tested is included in this post on the feature preview page.

Also check out the news item covering this here.

Keep in mind that features are still in active development, graphics, stats and design may not fully represent the final product. This is primarily a performance test, but we welcome any feedback, but bear in mind that some feedback may be impossible to action before the expansion launches.

How to connect to Singularity for this test:

Change the server from Tranquility to Singularity in the bottom right corner of the launcher and log in as normal.
More detailed instructions are available here.

Test Instructions:

Join the in-game channel masstesting. Read the MOTD to familiarise yourself with the mass test instructions

Join the massquestions channel to ask questions before and during the mass test.

Move yourself to FD-MLJ (type /moveme in any chat window and then select FD-MLJ the list)

Prepare 2 different ship fittings for the mass test within the FD-MLJ - MASSTEST keepstar

  • 1 mining fit, Ideally a bonused mining ship like the Venture, Mining Barge, Exhumer etc. (with mining lasers, strip miners, mining drones, etc.)
  • 1 PvP fit (with combat based modules) - We’ll shoot eachother a bunch after doing some mining.

Be boarded in your mining fit and ready to begin at 17:00 starting in FD-MLJ. Instructions will be relayed via the masstesting channel.

What else should I know?

Look closely at the visuals of the site and your mining modules, effects etc. If you noticed anything amiss, please report it via a bug report (F12) or here on the forums!

Please try and use this forum thread for bugs, defects and questions for the mass test. For feedback that is more focused on the design of the features (i.e. I think this new ship doesn’t have enough powergrid, or there isn’t enough ore in the new site) please post that in the feature preview thread.

Singularity will be open from 16:30 UTC on the day of the test. It will remain open over the weekend until Monday, 27th of October 11:00 UTC.

Fixing DirectX 12 performance being awful when ?

Wow. Its been two years since High CPU Usage since dx12 upgrade - #2 by ISD_Drew

I am a mac user. CCP managed to b0rk that too with buggy t3c textures that would cause the client to freeze and my M3 seems to now struggle when the client that used to be around when I had the OG M1 ran for over 6 hours on battery. So, no that is not a fix.

No I saw it, I have a mac and a PC and both had worse performance or needed settings turned down when the did not have to be.

Default graphics settings. Dock in a station and check which is getting hammered more, the GPU or the CPU. Zero ships on grid, patently worse.

Back when snorlax supported the linux client, alt-tabbing would do the same thing.

%100. I mined for a hour with each of the barges and noticed the covetor got %25 more yield, as small rocks resulting in shorter cycles had less impact.

\o/ Perfect timing CCP! I was just talking about trying to get hold of a Marshal for screenshots; so I can draw a new Python poster! Thanks again o7

I have a fix for you right here:

did you miss this update
funny thing now people are complaining that there GPU is now there bottleneck instead of the CPU

CCP please, for christs sake use this chance to buff active mining over massmultiboxed semi-afk mining.

PLEASE design "mining “crits” and “Hyperspace fractures” in a way that the miner has to actively do something that demands quick decision making and some knowledge and skill to use them to their full potential (like manual piloting to increase the hit quality on turrets…). So a very good solo/dual miner can actually outperform some semi-passive massmultiboxer.

This is YOUR CHANCE to really improve the quality of your game. Don’t throw it away!

Same. Mostly have issue with multiboxing and when my monitor goes to sleep. When I hit the ESC key for the EVE setting options or to log off to change characters, the screen goes blank. I can hear the client running in the background but I cannot pull anything back up. So I have to kill that client from the task manger to restart the client again.

They never do it. Neve! The multibox = lot of money. They dont care about single miners or who use 1-2 miner ship.
They dont give back the 3 Strip miner head. This is why the Hulk and covetor was so awesome.
They still dont made a voice line when the Strip head change to new crystal. I so love when the head just stay and “ ohh ye new crystal in it. “ -.-”. But they care about mining. xD Sure dude. Sure.

Please, do something about Orca bumping. Its hilarious.

This update seems over all very good for minning. All ores should be in every security, just more plentiful versions and exotic in nullsec because of things beind depleated in old popualted space, or that they just keep the best parts walled off for themselves and not freelancers.

I am of for some way of making minning more active to hinder the norm of all the pros doing multiboxing is kind of imersion breaking and everything else with it.

But how would they do it?

In dune awakening, to mine something you have to scan it, and aim cutter beam at particular weak spots to distroy it, so you cant just blindly shoot laser at it eve style (or any other game) and expect gradual progress or reward.

So the idea isnt bad but what option would people want that could be implemented to make it more active like PVE shooting NPCS (which itself can be just as afk and multiboxing with ishtar AFK fits a thing).

Something to look at, is crashing when warping to and from the fracture.

I really like the changes that are coming with the ‘Catalyst Expansion’ in November – they seem well thought-out and solid, at least from my initial look. Well done to the CCP Dev Industrial/Mining team … great work.

May I however, make a small suggestion for an additional change to consider, since we’re already looking at mining improvements? Would it be possible to adjust the lower limit on how many units of ore or ice are required for refining and processing?

At present, you need a minimum of 100 units to refine, which sounds fine in principle – but in practice, you very quickly end up with a cluttered ore hold full of odd ore remnants. Which is a bit frustrating to manage (perhaps that’s just my neurodiversity showing, but I suspect others find it tricky too).

I’m not suggesting lowering the refining requirement to a single unit – I completely get that that would create unnecessary strain on the servers with the number of daily refine requests – but could it perhaps be reduced to something more manageable, say 10 units?

Thanks for reading.

anyone else do just some basic math and see that on average you’re better off always just randomly reprocessing the new ore, even at current prices, you’ll get more value with the worst possible amount returned at jita buy value, than the best possible roles from the new unrefined values at jita sell. and that prices would have to spike upwards of 300% on some of the minerals for it to even become a viable trade off to even save 1isk….

Now that there is a compress all shortcut, We really need a stack all short cut. Please!!!

I think the *Faster Mining Cycles” just leave it as is personally. Everything else looks good/

Please add ISK/m³ as an optional inventory column and a filter to hide low-ISK/m³ loot. Thanks!

@Mu_ad_Diib No longer spawning and merging existing ore into base types—e.g., Fiery/Luminous Kernite to Kernite—can cut clutter by 66.7%.

This isn’t very readable. Maybe an outline instead so you can actually tell the color?

Remove ore variants and instead make asteroid variants be mined faster

Its supposed to highlight the asteroid, some people on sisi were saying some of the arrays were not working, with the T2 one it highlighted the rocks in orange or blue.

They also no longer have to be cycled I don’t know if that was intended or not, but I was able to keep it on permanently.
